edit: But yeah, I really hope they can overcome the uncanny valley with this game. I could tell it was that guy from Charmed in that one scene, so they have likenesses down. Of course, they've just got the actors saying their lines in a sterile white room. No one to play off of.

Yeah that's the challenge
The performance capture stuff is sort of like stage acting, but the closeup stuff is probably a bit more difficult
I don't mean to be an ignorant fool here, but who is John Noble?

Denethor wasn't a great character. I've reconciled the fact that this might be really linear like Mafia 2, but I'm still only going to rent it. I don't buy single player games unless their pretty long sandboxes like AC2-B, the Gta3 trilogy, RDR, Red Faction:G. Thats why Alan Wake was such a disappointment, I rented it and beat it in two days, and I wasn't even spending all day to beat it.
Hrrm, this is the first time they've showed some actual gameplay. Guess it's going to be kind of a phoenix wright/GTA hybrid.
I'm down.
Same here, though I hope the GTA-ness of it is kept to a minimum. This doesn't seem like the type of game where you'd want to get caught up in a lot of "side missions" or minigames
Jesus Christ Rockstar is on a roll lately. Red Dead was my GOTY last year and now this looks like it could easily be my GOTY this year and its still so early in the year.
Driving old timey cars never is Tofu. High speed chases of 40mph!!. Hah.
Still, I'm certainly getting this Day 1. Looks fun.

The mouth motion stuff is AMAZING. Especially in light of playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The eyes are kind weird for some characters for but for some it absolutely works. The emotive nature of the characters faces has definitely been improved upon.
Okay, yeah, that right there essentially looks like the one game I've always wanted to play ever since I started playing video games.
This is totally that game you imagined making when you were ten, and you were so gonna totally learn how to program videogames to make it. But then you got older, and you had to put such childish dreams aside and get a job and a mortgage.
And then one day, somebody taps you on the shoulder and shows you LA Noire and you gasp because it's even better than you imagined because it's REAL.

And I didn't even really like GTA4 all that much.
I didn't like RDR all that much and I'm getting really excited about this game.
Dammit, Rockstar, you're supposed to be porting RDR to PC and not making even more awesome historical shooters I can't play.
You can play them. The game just costs $260 (comes with a free console!) ;-)
And if you have a PC capable of running a recent Rockstar game (unoptimized messes that they are), you dropped WAAAAAAAAAY more than the price of a console on it.

Alright, I've had my eyes on this game through magazine previews, but I just went through those videos and they've sealed the deal (like there was any doubt with me and Rockstar).
My big wish is that they keep the toilet humour down (one preview I read mentioned that there was a Brokeback poster called 'Gay Cowboys').

Holy shit, that footage.
Man, I can't wait to interrogate a perp in this. I've already got Christopher Walken's monologue from 'True Romance' in my head just thinking about it.
"Sicilians are great liars. The best in the world. I'm Sicilian. My father was the world heavy-weight champion of Sicilian liars. From growing up with him I learned the pantomime. There are seventeen different things a guy can do when he lies to give himself away. A guys got seventeen pantomimes. A woman's got twenty, but a guy's got seventeen... but, if you know them, like you know your own face, they beat lie detectors all to hell."
I love that movie and that scene, though Dennis Hopper's response is what sticks in my mind the most. I hope we don't see much of that kind of talk in LA Noire, but we may, considering the setting.
I have the sudden urge to read James Ellroy. Or just watch LA Confidential. The latter is probably a better idea.
It suddenly feels like the lead-up to Red Dead again. Between this and Dragon Age II aping Mass Effect 2 as much as it is, this spring is looking wonderfully similar to last year's.
the new video turned this from "want" to "need when is it coming out oh gosh May is too far away"
Seriously. After watching 'Orientation' I went from "Oh, this looks like it might be interesting." to "Holy shit where's my credit card Amazon load up and have preorders pretty please."

Still though. Actors do monologues all the time!

My interest in this game just absolutely sky rocketed.
The faces. They're just unreal. And by that I mean real, very very real.
I'm down.

That is all.
And I didn't even really like GTA4 all that much.
This is the earliest Ive ever pre-ordered a game ever.
GTA meets Phoenix Wright with a little Dexter-esque stalking and police analysis mixed in? TAKE ALL MY MONIES.
Hope it doesn't suck!
Still, I'm certainly getting this Day 1. Looks fun.
Those videos got me hyped for Red Dead and they're gettin' me super hyped for LA Noire
Fuck, man
This game is the best game

Yeah same here, I was pretty hyped for RDR by the time they released all the videos. I'm looking
forward to this.

If there is one thing that Deadly Premonition taught me, it's that you can have a really good game even with horrible shooting and driving.
