why didn't I buy morde sooner? 19/7/4/ is boneriffic.
probably helps that I had my buddy playing taric attached to the hip for support but eh. probably gonna hop on vent later today and try to play with some of you nerds.
How often are the folks from PA playing? I've been doing nothing but solo 5v5s at the moment which isn't that bad, but it'd be fun to play with fellow arcadians.
Looking at vent now I see 11 people online, with a few more that aren't on vent but are on LoL. There is always someone!
What's the consensus on Shen and does anyone have some recommended builds on him? Really thinking about picking him up after I smooth out my Nidalee and Lux play a bit better.
Edit: By the way talith, thanks for the Nidalee tips, been helpin' a lot.
So. 40% cooldown on vlad is pretty darn silly. I'm still debating whether to continue with my more tanky build of Warmogs first followed by Rylai's and then spirit visage. Or to maybe try and go a more AP build by starting with Mejai's and super stacking AP and just getting the health from that instead.
Please never ever go Warmogs on Vlad. Only gives you 48 AP maxed out and makes you look terrible
Don't listen to this man, he tells you lies! Get double Warmogs and not give a single fuck about being killed.
Definitely do not rush Spirit Visage as your first item either. It's not at all good. No one in high ELO uses it ever.

definitely start coming into vent more man, we need to play.

Honestly I've found it better because you can take the time to communicate with your teammates and try to get a decent team comp going by asking who can play what. It really beats the 'ol "everyone on the team instantly picks a ranged carry and locks in" game.
This assumes that you actually try to communicate, of course. The first thing I ask when I'm duo queuing ranked (because solo queuing it is for suckers) is if anyone plans on playing a jungler and/or a tank, and usually that alone is good enough for getting a decent composition.
That said, they're both quite inferior to queuing with a group.

Just remember that Cho is a disabler and you will never run into that problem. Max cooldown on him and enjoy 3 second AoE silences on a 7 second cooldown. This is godly. Also knockup and 3 second slow on a 5 second cooldown.

Rupture & Feral Scream are mana hogs. You can't spam them.
There's like, these items.
Like, they're called, i duno, Rod of ages, and like, Chalice of Harmony.
See, they do this thing, with your mana.
It's like, "Oh no! I have no manas!" and then it's like "Oh, wait, nah, I got manas."
Chalice and full mp5/level yellows are sufficient. I'm only 10 points in Utility because I'm typically jungling with him.
Well I have definately decided on a character. The responses I received on vent seem less than favorable, so I guess I will keep soloing till I can find dudes who want to play with someone new.
...?
Was someone being a jerk and not wanting to play with you?

Ugh. It must be because i'm coming down with something because I can't tell which of you are being sarcastic right now.
I went toe to toe with a vlad in solo lane and was able to win because I had warmogs (Ended the game with something ridiculous like 5500 hp with all my items)
Spirit visage seems to me like it would mesh very well with him (I'm assuming you are being sarcastic about it but I don't actually watch High ELO games so I have no frame of reference here) The cooldown is important plus the healing passive and hp and MR are pretty nice.
I don't know about double stacking warmogs that seems a "bit" excessive. But I did play against a vlad last night who did nothing but stack AP and he was a beast as well (But late game we were able to shut him down quick because he had no mitigation)
I don't mind not rushing warmogs really and never really considered rushing Spirit visage (It was more a "Hey I need some cooldown now!" item for later. Abyssal Scepter seems like it has great use for him as well for both defense and offense.
So maybe something like:
Spirit Visage
Rylai's
Abyssal Scepter
Zhonyas
Sorc boots (or mercs if needed)
and some sort of extra mitigation item like a sunfire (if they are physical heavy) if I need it or Mejai's if I'm rocking it early on?

I have seen Vlad's do some early combination of Spirit Visage, Haunting Guise, and Sorc's.

i usually get a Doran's Ring, RoA and Rylai's with my cho, since they both do sizable HP + sizable AP and have good passives.
also clarity for laning (it comes in handy a whole lot before L12 or so and occasionally afterwards)
i haven't generally done CDR on Cho, though i can see how it would be awesome. What are the most suitable items for him in this regard? Nashor's?

As a beginning player, I've been using Ashe as my primary. It's seems to me that Ashe is a Champion that's easy to understand her limitations and capabilities.
Does anyone have any suggestions for secondary Champions or other possible primary Champions for a beginning player?
Also, does the Penny Arcade Ventrilo have a designated channel for low-level beginning players?
if you look around the vent for the D&D people, we're relatively beginners compared to the G&T crowd
some of us are getting into the 20s though, so we're no longer flat-out nubs. but we're less likely to yell at you for feeding or something.
I don't know about double stacking warmogs that seems a "bit" excessive. But I did play against a vlad last night who did nothing but stack AP and he was a beast as well (But late game we were able to shut him down quick because he had no mitigation)
The double Warmogs was half a joke and half not. If you find yourself in a position where you have to tank then you do the doubles. The rest of the build is a Spirit Visage, QSS, AD defense item of your choice, and a Force of Nature.

On the other, happier hand:
Killing four enemies in a row because they all went one by one in the bush you warded, completely unaware a ton of teammates died there before?
Hilarious.
Also AP Miss Fortune, do not do this you silly goose.
i watched some funny high level pantheon play earlier. panth has a singed on his team who is low health (<10%) and three enemies chase him across the map
...
i think you see where this is going
he never stops running or autoattacks, only a steady stream of poison

Well, this is a jungle build, so you'll have to adapt it a bit, but...
AD reds (for jungling, you can do mpen instead), 6x flat armor+3x mp5/level yellows, flat cdr blues.
Masteries are 1/19/10.
You'll have 6% innate cooldown with this. Since you're laning, you can ditch the Smite mastery and can shift points from utility to offense if you want and pick up the additional cooldown from there.
Cloth Armor+5HP
finish Heart of Gold
Boots1
Chalice
Boots2 (Merc's)
finish Randuin's (15% cdr - total 21%)
Kindlegem (10% cdr - total 31%)
consider Spirit Visage before or after Kindlegem (12% - total max at 40%)
finish Shurelya's instead at some point will get you to 36%, which is good enough
last two spots: Force of Nature / Rylai's in whatever order is best to you. If you only have 1 spot due to getting the SV, get the Rylai's.
I run Ignite/Smite when jungling, which makes Shurelya's a nice pickup at some point for the minighost to get to nom range.

In other news, I played my first ever game with Ryze today.
Also what spells should trist be using? I like ghost and flash but the nerf to flash was a bit ridiculous and ghost is almost never useful, maybe ghost and cleanse or something like that?

I tend to run port/ignite, but that's just personal preference.

Ghost/Cleanse is a good defensive choice, since you can Cleanse, jump away, then Ghost if necessary.
Otherwise, Teleport, Exhaust, and Ignite are all viable spells instead.
I should have asked this before, how the fuck do I do amazing with Trist? Or is trist a hero where you should just expect to do okay every game? I see people going 20-4 or 16-5 or whatever, I can never put up those kinds of numbers as trist, I don't think I have ever had more than 10 kills. Also when I see tanks chasing someone else I usually just run because I know that I cant hurt them, they almost regen faster than I can hurt them until I get some crits and solid standing time with my q.
