The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I am making a game. I need some sound effects. Free would be great, but I can shell out for them. The licensing has to be compatible with a commercial product (read: paid product).
Flashkit is garbage
This is the first time I've done this so I don't really know too many places.
There is Audio Jungle, but for their commercial license the cheapest thing is like 5 dollars for little foley-esque effects. I'd prefer to stay to 1-3 dollars per minor effect.
There is also UltraShock but its very hard to search there.
there is istockphoto.com that has audio. The downside I think is that the people who put the items up name their own price and it uses a credit system. I've used the site for stock images before and I can't remember if 1 credit = 1 USD or if it's a different system than that. I just did a search for audio and got a few sound effects and they varied in price from 2 credits (for a short little blip of a sound) to 4 credits.
Might be worth checking into though.
Just logged into my account and checked their credit system.
it gets cheaper the more you buy.. however they apparently expire. I remember this because when I signed up I bought 50 credits, and only used about 35 of them or so. And now I have 0 credits.
Slightly more looking around gave me this chart.. now this is how much you have to charge for your audio file and how much you will be paid for it.
Size Credits Royalty
Basic 2 $0.60
Detailed 5 $1.50
Complex 15 $4.50
Elaborate 25 $7.50
So the least you'll be paying for a tiny sound fx bloop is $3.08, and from that the maker will get $0.60
So maybe pass on istock for small audio effects.
EWom on
Whether they find a life there or not, I think Jupiter should be called an enemy planet.
