My first name is my Chinese name in Cantonese, and it's two separate words that make up my name.
People here will ALWAYS address me by just the first word in the name, which also happens to sound, in Cantonese like the sound you'd make when you're trying to get someone's attention (kinda like HEY YOU).
So I basically have to remind myself, often, that no, they're NOT being rude, they just don't know shit from shit.
But honestly, I can understand why they only rarely poke through the new comic thread or whatever. It's fucking weird having fans.
This is it. It isn't because of the pit of hate thing, that was almost ten years ago and I doubt Mike even remembers it. To the extent that I can speak for them, it's a case of
1. They might simply not be into forums that much. A lot of people aren't.
2. Hanging out with people who see you as a celebrity is often really awkward. Even I have a bad time of it sometimes, it's why I'm never on MSN messenger any more and why I'm very careful who I hang out with in real life.
There's no secret drama, Mike is going around saying "fucking forumers, calling my wife names in 2001...". It's just a thing.
