The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It really depends on how much he costs, and how he's going to update it.
Like maybe once a month you can give him 5 bucks and you get the farming package with animal husbandry.
Or, for another 5 bucks you also get a distillery and an upgraded bar/restaurant/actual kitchen kit.
The implication that there will be paid updates in the future is insteresting.
Not necessarily, he just took the promise of free updates forever out because people convinced him that it was a dumb idea to promise that.
If notch is able to do paid updates it means he can continue generating revenue after selling the base game and can continue developing minecraft. He may eventually hit a critical mass of minecraft buyers and its not a very good business practice to continue to develop a game that you can no longer obtain revenue from.
Godamnit I just spent like 6 hours of my live making gigantic wheat, reed, and cactus farms.
The reed and cactus farms are a lot of fun but not practically useful but you won't regret that wheat farm, my friend. A stack of wheat has sustained my party of SMP explorers for days and days. My farm isn't even that big and we still have so much more wheat than we could ever need.
Im thinking about deleting and doing a fresh install. I downloaded some mod that added lions, wolves and bears into the game. It was pretty awesome at first, but now, everytime I go outside my fortress, I get accosted by no less than 15 animals all wanting to eat my face, its getting pretty annoying.

Just delete your bin folder and start up the game, it will download the necessary files for you.
I swear, every time I actually feel like playing this game, I log in and there's been a rollback, and I have to spend 3 hours redoing something, and then I don't feel like playing for a long time again.
so, i have another friend who's getting into zee Meinkraft. giving him the server info. i'll get their game names so i can claim them and get duly banned. (for realsies, i don't foresee them misbehaving.)
personally, i'm not playing much lately because i'm trying to knock out a bunch of gift-knitting.

By "giving him the server info" you mean "giving them the contact information to one of our administrators so they can get approval" right?
You could ask Nuka on their behalf. I'd recommend you get the okay from someone volunteering their time to keep the server running instead of just giving them the info. As a courtesy at-least.
I'm gonna pop in now, we just can't give build permissions to folks unless they're online the same time as myself, bill or a mod. And we got a bunch of mods now!
EDIT: Er should probably put this down.
If he's your buddy then yeah whatever. You guys are good folks, we've only had one problem since we all started out and that was entirely my fault. In other words you're all better people than I am.
That said, if one of you lurkers read then I'd prefer it if you would ask either myself, Hiartbill or the mods. (I should put in the new mods in the OP, hmm.)
So my girlfriend just picked up this game, and after a few stints in SSP she would love to play with other people. Is it alright if I give her the server address? She'll read/follow the rules and all that good stuff.
Probably ok
What bill said to someone else on a prev page
Oh I totally missed that.
Well that'll work then, thanks for pointing it out to silly ol' me.
Restarting the notice on map claims cause I don't know if people were even told.
Remember to ask permission before taking over someone's stuff. I can't bold and italicize something twice. No one is going to be able to do anything anyways until after Christmas.
Also guys the light house is safe, there's still stuff in there that belongs to people.
It's been safe for like, a while now.
EDIT: Considering a bit doing an auction for those chests that no one cares about cause I just don't like leaving shit behind and not taking care of things.
I have built a shitty little house on a shitty little island, I hope no one was planning on using that for anything. Also thanks again to nuka for being a gigantic help earlier with figuring out how things work (and also teaching me that I can make stairs out of wood).
SLyM on
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
The above link is to our page for the problem on Notch's bug reporting site, with a basic break down of the issue.
Go there and say you have it too!
I'm in the process of sending this info out to as many people as I can that have some form of invested in interest in Minecraft.
-Thanks
We have the same problem ourselves, though we can get to the lighthouse it seems that everything is still untouchable for some reason, at least as far as I can remember. We flooded our craters where the floating islands go and it seemed to help but people have just kind of learned to avoid that part of the map.

The water is the fix. As long as the bug exists, the water must stay, but it's fine to build there. Just don't remove water unless there's a ceiling in place to prevent natural light from going below layer 32.
This is my texture pack I've been meaning to share with people.
I'm not much of a pixel artist, I really just alter the colors of objects and copy and paste stuff. I've borrowed textures from all over the place, but mostly it's John Smith's, Glimmar's, this guy's items, someone who's been remaking Doku's old texture pack and I don't even remember.
This isn't meant to be the official texture pack for the server, texture packs are a personal kind of thing I think.
Instructions for installing texture packs are in the 3rd post of the OP.

Looking mostly at Guy Who Claimed The Entire Snow Continent.
