Find Lt Iolo over at Wubble Woo base. Ask him for Supply/Equipment Request Form: A95-R-776. You'll need to fill this out in triplicate. Once you get a Supply/Equipment Request Form Receipt, you'll need to await delivery of the parts. At that time track down a Barracuda Interceptor Request for Optional Parts Form: B23-U-882. Make sure you get the 2040 version of the form because the 2025 version is for something totally different. After that, get it authorized and find some disgruntled mechanic to put the parts in.
I also recommend wearing your optional Deep-Sea Bail Out Reinforced Helmet and ReBreather System Mk. IIat all times. Just in case that mechanic was annoyed at you for making him do a lot of unnecessary work.
Unfortunately the A95-R-776 is on backorder. I'm working a barter for some Supplemental Requisition Forms, Equipment (good old S-1212's) to get us through. They want our last box of peanut brickle, though, and that may be too high a price.
Hey guys, what happened the base PA systems? It's like they've all been recently shot with our fancy new gauss weaponry.
How'd that happen?
Security footage shows several incidents of X-COM Aquatic Division operatives following Director Chiasaur's orders to practice with the newly developed gauss weaponry in the hallways and storerooms. Unfamiliarity with the technology seems to have resulted in much collateral damage to the base's PA systems.
All except those in the vicinity of Ensign Rankenphile, which have been zealously protected from all damage while he clutches his Flounder plushie.
Reports of speakers being found crushed with tank tread marks on them have been dismissed as completely unfounded rumor, as there is no security footage of any times it was alleged to occur.
How the fuck are there tread marks on the walls and ceiling?
Classified footage from Coelacanth maneuverability field tests.
Really the game doesn't have the "sea" think planned out very well. Your agents can't swim, they can throw grenades fine, and the fire can spread around after you fire an incendiary round

I love having incendiary rounds underneath the sea. It just feels so... ironic.
Not scientifically impossible, just ironic.
The flare's chemical composition, pressed into a steel tube, produces sufficient oxygen and nitrogen to maintain a very hot flame.
The flare burns so fiercely at more than 2,000 degrees Celsius that this creates enough pressure to keep the water from entering the tube.
Its intensity is produced by a mix of oxygen-generating chemicals as well as the combustible element magnesium in a finely powdered form.
Yeah, in the Navy we called these Class Delta fires (Alphas are standard Ash/Dry fires, Bravo is fuel/grease/wet fires, and Charlie are electrical fires). There was only one way to extinguish a Delta; throw it overboard. Did I mention that most likely Delta fire would be an aircraft?

One of my proudest moments in this game was actually lighting an Aquatoid on fire and watching it slowly burn to death.

Only one downside...
You can't pee on the fire to put it out when you're underwater.

Note that this doesn't so much extinguish the fire as make it someone else's problem.

Debriefing, X-Com aquatic recovery operation 3.
Another victory, if less flawless than the previous recoveries.
We have received complaints regarding the official policy for the mission regarding limited use of high explosives.
We understand that. It was an emotional time for all of us
But consider the damage to the alien materials recovered if there had been no embargo on heavy weapons, a few trigger happy grunts, and no hostile presence. If we went and made a major security situation out of it, the Zrbite would have been destroyed, displeasing the funding council. The council of funding nations steps in, and there's no exclusive rights for anyone. The decisions regarding explosives were a bad call, of course, but circumstances should be considered.
As for agent OnTheLastCastle, he will be missed. If it would be any consolation, the footage suggest his last action was diving on the alien grenade, reducing its impact and quite possibly saving several lives.

Seeing as how the only things living under the water are blood thirsty alien bastards, that's just a bonus.
I remember the first time I played through TFTD, a lobsterman waltzes out out of nowhere, only to be promptly crushed by a still flaming F-16 that had been thrown overboard by an aircraft carrier on the surface a few thousand feet above us.
Great game.

If it was a 16 it was shot down, not jettisoned. Falcons arent carrier based.
Either way, lucky break.

Our first funding assessment came in shortly after the recent recovery.
I am pleased to report that it was a success.
We have been granted additional funding, slightly less intrusive oversight, and generally greater operational autonomy. Enough to expand our active contact team, replace losses, and fill out the science staff, at any rate.

The Director Protects...
And I'm sure that next mission will be a Terror mission. Question is: ocean liner or costal town?
Depends. If it's the start of the month it's almost certainly a port (or island). If it's the end of the month it's the mission of death.

Director Chiasaur,
I see you're running a tank with an unimprinted AI. I recommend against this course of action, as a blank AI shows no initiative, and less discretion. More importantly, they can't be counted on to protect your aquanauts. I recommend requisitioning another AI template immediately or you may find that second tank more hindrance than help.
Also some jackoff in the AI R&D department topside made the default system font for blank AIs Comic Sans.

What are you talking about? All Terror missions are missions of Death. On an island, the aliens hide in a closet, wait for you to come by, bust out, and sing "happy birthday" with their Sonic guns. On a boat, the main difference is that they all hide in their cabins until the Captain gives the cue

Well, we may have lost a soldier, but look on the bright side! I now have six more alien corpses and one human corpse to dissect. Doesn't that just make it all worth it?

Well, since crewman whatshisname got blown up by a grenade, I'm sure his remains are of more value to weapons research rather than xenobiology.
