Game(s) of the Year

highlights for me include the above mentioned Mass Effect 2, Sin and Punishment 2 (criminally underrated game), Mario Galaxy 2, Starcraft 2, and Donkey Kong Country Returns to name some. Lots of good 2's in 2010.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Fallout: New Vegas are easily my favorite games of the year. SMG2 for pure, unadulterated fun, and NV for...well, a lot of things.
This year was one of the shittiest years ever as far as games go, due to the Q1 2011 offloading.
Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout New Vegas and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood are just about the only ones worth mentioning on my end, and they've got their flaws as well.
Obviously that's just my opinion, but I can't think of any?

It came down to 999 and Nier for me, and I reluctantly sided with 999, because once that game gets down to the wire, you just can't put it down. I can't say that about many games.
An impressive feat for a game that's 70% dialogue.
I didn't really keep up with new releases, and I only played a handful. Any other gaming is for older games or whatnot.
Since Bioshock 2 and FFXIII were utter disapointments, the highlights for me would include Amnesia: Dark Descent, Heavy Rain, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and Pokemon Soul Silver.
But since I can't really remember all that much, I'd go with Heavy Rain for the win.

Yikes.
Glowing reviews + low print run = gone.
Glad I decided to get it.
Wasn't it you who said Aksys games don't get rare? :P

I'll go with A Shadow's Tale as my game of the year and as a runner up FFCC: Crystal Bearers. They are both 2010 games to me as they were released in the PAL region this year.
He will be doing it again. He posts at platformers, shows up here, does the thing, and fades back into shadow.
As an aside, can I ask you, anecdotally, your favorite game this year sans anime?
Anime /= Japanese games
That said, it was The Witcher. I didn't play any new western games in 2010, but I did finish that one.
I know what the difference at anime and japanese games are. I ignored that because it was funny and I was wholly entertained by the hunch that you do not play western games.

Nothing worthwhile was pushed to 2011

Yes and this is not the first time we've both been in here to tell people off.
This is why I think there should be a placeholder thread or something. So people know it's coming.

If I knew there was an official one that always comes at the new year, I definitely wouldn't have made this thread.
I'm sorry :[

Yes. Yes it was.
Alan Wake
or
Halo Reach for multiplayer.
everything else is lies.
Xbox | x Dredgen Yor x |
Or Darksiders.
Probably Bad Company 2 for multiplayer.
-golden sun
-donkey kong country returns
-vanquish
honorable mention to god of war 3 and halo: reach for being super duper awesome, but I didn't really expect otherwise from those
Transformers War for Cybertron is runner-up.
Worst game I've played this year has to be Alpha Protocol.
Game of the Year: Alpha Protocol
Runner Up: Epic Mickey
RPG GOTY: New Vegas: Dead Money (Yes, I'm awarding it to a DLC. Wanna fight about it?)
Runner Up: The Dark Eye: Drakensang: The River of Time
Action GOTY: Mass Effect 2
Runner Up: AC: Brotherhood
Strategy GOTY: Star Craft 2
Runner Up: Civilization 5
but I'd rather have a group of games than one definite winner
It's MCC, who helped me run the game of 200X poll last year as well. I imagine by invoking his name here he will appear.
Wait, you're giving AP GOTY but not RPGoty?

look when you're kissing your own company's ass, you gotta kiss both cheeks.
So your GOTY 2010 is a game that came out a few years ago? I think we have to keep it within this year's releases.

The only game on the 2010 list that's western that I've played was Scott Pilgrim, so if anything, I guess that. I haven't bought it yet, though.
