Azaroth is the only staff member from IPY1 returning to IPY2. None of the other wtfman guys are affiliated with the shard, especially those who were known to be corrupt (Nighthawk, Rixus, etc.) There won't be corruption issues.

Good lord, I do love some UO.

I've even been fairly active on a free shard or two, until recently. I'd gotten bored of the T2A style and jumped onto something based on AOS, though. Been on that shard for the best part of 9 years.

Might look at getting involved in this - will certainly check it out on launch.

Yeah, and I think justifiably. There are definitely a lot of trolls just waiting to cry corruption, and turn the IPY forums/shard into a total circus like it become the first time around when all of that stuff surfaced. I think Az wants to make damn sure that doesn't happen again. On IPY1.0, he ultimately rectified the corruption problem by just wiping the whole shard, and making everyone start over. By some miracle shard population actually increased, but I think he knows that if he ever had to do something like that on IPY2 (especially given the slower skill gain), it would be the nail in the coffin for sure.

I approved about 8 forum accounts that had some how slipped by me, I thought I had kept up to date on that but I think I read the mail on my phone and didn't go back to it once I got home to approve the account fully.

If some one still can't access the forums (or if you can see them but shouldn't!) PM me, and I'll see whats wrong. I might have still missed one or two.

Right now we're thinking Monday at 9PM Eastern, but we're still open to suggestions.

Edit: If you're waiting on confirmation at the guild forum or something, and you have an opinion about the guild meeting, you can just post it here to.

Also, if anyone is new to UO or just generally on the fence about playing, this meeting will be a really good way to get a sense of what playing will be like.

Nostalgia demands that I revisit my wandering blacksmith/miner i used to play on Pacific. At the very end of my time playing I would decrypt treasure maps and explore with my tamer buddy. I hated the ones on 2 square island.

I uh wasn't a tamer, I'd beat my drum and or shake my tamborine while swinging my sword wildly.

Still planning on joining everyone, and still planning on primarily crafting (blacksmithing plus whatever else appeals to me once playing). I'll be in Phoenix Mon-Fri of next week for training though, so I probably won't make that meeting, and won't actually start playing until next Saturday.

Yeah no problem dude. The meeting is really just an informal thing. Just register on the guild boards if you haven't already, because that's where we'll post all the ventrilo/automap info once we have it :)

With all you guys playing, it shouldn't be difficult to get a sparring partner.

Cool, a friend from PAX irc let me know about this. I've never played UO before so I am scared, but also tantalized. I'll be there in IRC tonight but man, this talk of using ICQ is making me cringe.

Oh, and I'm thinking of doing crafting.

    Whoo!

I re-subbed WoW after the delay news and have barely been playing. Maybe ten days left on the subscription and I don't give a shit--too pumped for this! Help me perform dark rituals to guarantee the long-term success of this shard.

    I'm gonna live forever!

    Oh gods, UO...
It leads me to a dark, dark place where UO2 and the corpses rot of millions of Meer, Jukan and the city carrying JewTree lies in ruin.

It also leads me to the private server who's name I can't remember right now...
    Northwood?
    Xeno?
I had a character called Rur, and we were told we could buy buildings for some crazy high number of gold.
    ...
The Admin was surprised when I managed to collect the amount. The blacksmith now had a sign baring my name in it.

There was another player that was mildly grieving, badgering and playing some crazy story which involved attacking us.
    Mernik?
    Mernick?

For all we hated him, he was one of the important elements in our whole shard.
We crafted and build and trained because he was always hiding in the forest, waiting for a weak moment.
The guards were all players who leveled their weapon skills faster then the others.

Our map was small and a GM-forcefield kept us away from the rest of the map.
The admin (Xeno? Xono?... sigh) was working on some complete redesign of the map (and perhaps he was modding the engine?). Never saw his work finished, but that didn't matter. We had FUN in that little section of the map.

Somewhere in the end, we 'captured' Mernik, and we had him hanged in the town square.
That would put an end to his evil attempts to create his body-parts monsters.
We never found out if aliens DID teleport him in from the future.

Hmmm which UO client will we need?

I own an original disk which still works (!), but would much much rather dl a shard appropriate client...

EDIT: Figured it out - they want the classic client... not sure I can link to it?

There's a link a few pages back if you need it. It's a free download off of the UO site. I'm going to post one in the OP when the IPY patch is available and stuff.

Haha understandable. I've spent the better part of two weeks building up good will so my fiancee doesn't get pissed that I'm basically dumping this weekend into UO. It entailed buying a cat and watching the lastest Sex and the City movie.

i remember when UO first came out, I stole house plans from someone in the city.

And I enjoyed camping out by houses and stealing keys from people's inventory. I was a dick :P

Most people in the early UO days were dicks!

It's neat seeing those same people that fucked around as 14 year olds now coming back here with us and now being university grads or family men and looking to play a little more community-minded now.

Me personally, I was one of them RP nerds. :P

What all do I need to download to get Razor working properly? I read on the razor site that you need the latest version of UO for it to run but I had seen on the IPY forums where they suggested to download the classic client and do not patch it through EA and just use the IPY patch when its released. I wanted to try to get everything ready to go today so everything would be se up for the release tomorrow.

For beta, we did have to patch through the autopatcher to play. I'm not sure it will be neccessary once the IPY patch is available though. I would just download the latest version of the Classic Client, and wait for an announcement before you do anything. I'm inclined to think that it's not going to matter whether you go through the autopatcher or not, but I'm not 100% sure.

For those unfamiliar with UO Emulation, running the Autopatch.exe can have some pretty heavy effects on the client. Maps, part of the U.I, gumps and the like could all be altered. I'd recommend just grabbing the classic client and holding fire.

Edit: For instance, patching the client now will cover the map in snow, apparently.
