iTunes Store Region question

Heya, I'm an American living in Australia.

I got an Australian iTunes giftcard for Christmas, and I'd like to use it but am enjoying my access to the US iTunes store just fine, thank you very much. Now, I can change my region to Australia to use the card, but it looks like I'll probably lock myself out of getting back into the US store since you can't change if you have a credit balance remaining and it is almost impossible to spend an exact dollar amount.

So, what should I do? If I open an Aussie account, how can I merge whatever I get with my normal account? Whatever I end up getting, I don't want to keep it separate from my other stuff or have issues keeping it all on the same iPod or whatever.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Doesn't work like that. (Australian living in Australia)

I use two accounts, one USA with prepay cards and another locally here in Australia.

You can simply create another new account with just the iTunes gift card using another email address. Once the new account is up and running you can simply log into it and it will redirect you to the AU iTunes store.

Change the email again back to your USA account and it will redirect you again back to the USA store.

The AU account will keep the Card balance until you use it all up and your USA account will remain untouched and continue to work as is.

Edit: just remember to check which account you are logged into before you buy stuff, Generally you want to use your primary account for app purchases because you cannot check for app purchases from the other account unless you switch accounts. So buying apps with two accounts will lead to you missing updates because of this.

Music and Video doesn't update so go wild.

Edit: I should add. Generally you cannot add the gift card to the USA account without switching that account, Which I think is what you where planning. I would advise to simple use the two accounts but keep the app purchases on the USA account.

Cool, thanks for the help. Starting up a new account seems reasonable.

Can I have music from two separate accounts on the same iPod? On the same playlists on my iPod?

Yep. Once you authorize the PC under the new account, the PC will be tagged for two accounts (There is a 5 pc Limit for accounts, but no limit for hardware). Anything without DRM or authorized from ether account will sync to the Ipod.
