Drivers won't install on reformatted laptop

So after a lot of nagging my father allowed me to format his laptop, because it'd been running slowly for ages. Problem is, the thing is ancient, so no driver disks left etc. Using a program I found online (everest) I was able to find the names of the components, and download accompanying drivers. I also found that the video card was an Ati Radeon Xpress 200M (RC410M).

So I go to the ati site, enter that information and it gives me 10.2 legacy catalyst drivers -something like that- However, when I try to install it it gives me an error message: (translated from Dutch, may not be entirely correct) 'Setup hasn't discovered a driver that is compatible with your current hardware or Operating System. Setup will be closed'

Okay what the hell? I have no clue what else I'm supposed to have, and the names of the other components Everest gave me all worked perfectly when finding drivers. OS is XP Home 32-bit.

Whats the make and model of the laptop? If it's one of the larger OEMs you can probably find detailed tech specs and a service manual on their website.

Wow, that looks like a good solution for the next time, but I was able to find the laptop makers website which had a whole bunch of drivers so it's completely fixed now, thanks a lot!

Okay, I've got a new problem. The fan on the laptop appears to be running at full speed constantly, which is very noisy. I've tried installing speedfan (it didn't list the graphics card, and didn't list any fans to change) and EVGA precision (which didn't start up because it couldn't detect the display card) but to no avail. I tried reinstalling the drivers but it didn't change anything. I'm pretty much at a loss as to how I can fix this.

Have you updated XP to the latest patches?

Have you waited a while to see if the fan eventually slows down? Usually those fans are programmed to failsafe to run at the highest speed if they don't recieve an actual speed command.
