I got this new Samsung LED monitor and I can't get it to stay full picture for the life of me. I'm typically ending up with about an inch of black space around my screen which I can fix via the ATI Catalyst control center scaling options however this defaults back to the same shitty problem all the time.
I'm hoping one of you can help before I end up punching my monitor right in its stupid face.
I had a similar issue that I would have to correct by adjusting the resolution (away from and back to my preferred resolution). I would have to do that every time I rebooted. PITA.
Eventually I was able to install an updated driver that corrected my issues. Given that, have you looked for a new driver?
I've personally had trouble HDMI connections and ATI graphics cards. For some reason, the display settings aren't sticking in the driver. Maybe try an older version of a driver? I don't know, I just gave up and used DVI. To be honest, DVI is the same thing as HDMI anyway, besides a smaller connector and the audio integration.
Samsung and ati are just not a good mix in my experience.
My monitors native is 1680x1050. Windows only thinks it can do 1280x1024. I have had to use catalyst to force it into 1920 x1080, I'm not using my pc loads so it isn't bothering me but if I had a fair amount if expendable cash then I would definitely get a new monitor.

The driver for my ATI 4650 is evidently also a dick. I've had the same problems with black space showing up if it's connected via HDMI even though my Xbox 360 experiences no such problem with the same cable and port. A solution would be appreciated. I'm not sure I want to roll back my driver as my current one is the best one for Bad Company 2.
I had this exacting same motherfucking cocksucking problem with my ATI card and LG LED TV. It literally drove me crazy for a month. I stumbled onto a forum for ATI that showed me what to do:
1. Open Catalyst
2. Click on the Graphics menu on the top left and select Desktops & Displays.
3. There should a picture of a monitor on the bottom left. Right click it. Select Configure.
4. There should be 6 tabs to choose from near the top. Select Scaling Options.
5. Move the slide bar all the way to the right.
6. You're problem should be solved. If not check and make sure your resolution is still correct.
I sincerely hope that helps. It fixed my problem right away and I haven't had more trouble since.

Unfortunately I've already been doing this. It does work but the problem is that it keeps defaulting back to the dickishness setting.
I get the same problem time to time. It's a driver issue pure and simple simply learn where the scaling options is and use it. It takes like 10sec to do if you know what you are doing.
An annoyance to be sure but in my book not much can change it short of rolling back drivers.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you thinking it's the cord? If so, it's definitely not.

That sounds exactly like what's going on for me.
So, in short, my monitor is a dick?
