What are some games you've written off as "too hard to finish"?

I did the Backlog Challenge that was issued here previously last year, and ended up beating 43 games that I otherwise would probably have just played pieces of in 2010 or left sealed in their box where some of them had been in years. As part of this Challenge, I forced myself to go back to a lot of games that I couldn't beat and - unsurprisingly, if I use a little bit of patience I can finish most things. Mega Man 9 for example. So, I've been going back through my collection and beating old games I never was able to, and now I'm looking for some ideas on what games are notoriously hard that I can find and then beat myself up over.
