So I finally opened FFIII and popped it in my DS. I'm rather immediatly becoming enchanted with the game. However, it does seem to be a bit confusing. So I have a few questions.

Can my characters learn skills from jobs which they can retain through switching? Like, a counterattacking knight?

Is there only 1 secret job, and the rest become unlocked naturally through the story?

What's all the wifi stuff for?

Anyway, discuss away on this awesome handheld RPG.

I don't allow myself to play it anymore. I just about broke my DS after the bossfight when you are mini. I died right after that.

...you guys DO know that you don't have to stay mini in the dungeon, right? It's just to get through the entrance to that area.

For some reason I couldn't cast Mini on myself when I was in that dungeon (to make myself big), but it doesn't matter -- just put all of your characters in the back row and cast spells like crazy. The boss isn't that hard.

And the mini village is around the bottom "tip" of the forest in that section.

I got to the point where you can first really use the ship, but then phoenix wright came out and then Hotel Dusk, and it's not like Final Fantasy games are all that enthralling (esp compared to those two). That and actually my wife stole the DS and has been playing Hotel Dusk all the damn time.

All mini dungeons you have to stay mini in. The ones where you can change back are the frog dungeons.

I beat the game about two weeks ago. I bought it hoping it would last me through Thanksgiving, never thought I'd be playing it for like 4 weeks. D:

Man, that game was longer than I thought. Lol

    Great game, though.

Should I go back to beat the Mini dungeon? Or should I save my DS?

Beat it. Like the guy said, put everyone in the back row and cast spells. You might need to save up some money to buy a bunch of level 1 and 2 black magic (and cure), then change your guys into red mages.

That same thing happened to me. I figured they'd give me a checkpoint after beating the first cave or something, didn't know I had to save to make checkpoints.

Normally I'd quit playing and never pick it up again.

Yeah, I got to the end. So like, the last dungeon has, I shit you not, something like 10 bosses. Also, its fucking long, between the bosses and the dungeon, the whole thing is like 3 hours.

Of course, there is no save anywhere in there, also, I don't think you could go back. So after, 3 hours going through all this long shit, I died on one of the giant bosses before the giantest boss. So like, 3 hours, completely gone.

I fucking hate that shit, and I'm not touching the game again. I understand you want a last boss thats hard and memorable, but in almost EVERY fucking Final Fantasy game, the end boss is so dissproportionally hard. I mean, if I go through the entire game, and I'm up to the last boss, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO BEAT THE BOSS. I'm not talking about having it handed to me, I'm talking that I have the skills and the power to win after a tough fight. But its never a tough fight, it's goddamn impossible unless I level for 5 hours just to finish the goddamn game.

    Fuck.

Someone convince me to finish playing this game. I just can't get into it. I love old-school FF worlds and mythos but after playing FF12 I can't go back to the random encounters. Especially slow-ass, PSX-era load-time laden polygonal random encounters. I haven't even gotten past the first dungeon (the djinni's cave)

And why the fuck is this game so hard? I had no problem with FF2. Did they make that easier for Dawn of Souls but make this game the original difficulty?

Actually, I really hate this random encounter bullshit.
I don't think I'm going to be playing this game very long.

Whenver I'm running from place to place, I'll hold my breath and hope I don't run into some shitty ass mob.
