PS3 and regions?

I ordered FF13 from Amazon, but it was actually fulfilled by a different seller from this page if you're interested. I live in the USA and they sent me a Region 2 disc. I can't check it on my system for another couple hours but am I fucked? I hate returning things to online stores and I hate when they send me something that I didn't order.

TL;DR Will a region 2 game play on my US PS3?

PS3 games are generally not region locked.

The only time regions might be important is for multiplayer. Like with Demon's Souls, depending on the region you get you end up on separate servers.

For single player it won't matter at all.

    And DLC/patches.

If a patch is released in one region but not another and your game is from that other region, then you'll have to wait until they get it. Most games get patches in the UK/US at pretty much the same time but there have been a couple of times where one or the other has had to wait weeks or months for it to finally come out (like the PAL flow and Disgaea 3 trophy patches).

DLC is similar, you have to buy it off a store from the same region. So DLC from the UK store would work on my NZ version because we're in the same region, but it wouldn't work on a US version. Similarly DLC from the Canadian store should work on a US version but it wouldn't work on my NZ version.

This doesn't matter for FFXIII though because it has neither patches or DLC.

Also worth noting that you can play any PSN bought item (including PS1 classics) in any region: you just need the regional currency (or online credit card exchange account) to buy from another country's store.
