Is there any way to disable icons snapping to a grid when im placing them on my desktop?
Also, any way to have just the icon, no name underneath?

    No grid:

    1. Right click on your desktop

    2. Hover your mouse over "arrange icons by ..."

    3. Un-check "align to grid"

    4. Party time

    No name icons:

Yes, there is a way. I have the article on how to do it at home, but I'm at work ...

Right click on desktop -> Arrange Icons By -> Uncheck "Align to Grid"

Select icon, press F2. Delete all the text. That's the simplest way I guess.

EDIT: Beat'd. Damn. My first beat'd too :(
