So, I've seen a lot of talk about all the cool shit to do outside of driving, but, uh... how's the driving? For reference, I thought the driving in TDU1 was pretty terribad. Not Sega GT 2002 bad, but... pretty bad.
edit: Yeah if you didn't like TDU1 you won't like the driving here, it's the same almost. And hopefully that jiggly assed video breaks the damned tension in here. Seriously guys, OPINIONS!
Yeah, opinions are cool. If you guys feel like this thread is getting out of hand, feel free to check out the Black Ops thread. We've been (vehemently) having the same argument for 2 months!
I had to go into the Mass Effect thread to calm myself. THE MASS EFFECT THREAD. Look what you made me do!
Anyway, PC folks! Are we forming a club or what guys? I can get enough money to buy a clubhouse but at the expense of another car so I need to be sure if people wanna form a gang and wreck shit up. (Before getting kicked out due to bad connections)

I dunno gaslight, I'm just not sure what you were expecting. The game is exactly what I figured it would be.
Well then you're in luck! Like Hardtarget says, the first couple hours are spent getting you used to all the mechanics. Its tedious stuff but at any time you can go off and explore. I just did an hour of absolutely nothing but driviing in various different camera views.
Edit: Wait a second! I though you had this game already? I'll do you a deal, you buy this and I'll buy Two worlds 2 :P
And you're opinion would be wrong. Mostly because hot pursuit is the abortion of a game
Well if driving a Veyron police car at insane high speeds and ramming illegal racers off the road is an abortion then I don't understand why more people aren't pro-choice.
Anywho, arrgh I'm going to be working the night shift today, which means it'll take a little longer for me to get this game. I know people will ask me if I've played it yet even though it releases today. It always happens. Every. Single. Time.
I'd have a hard time really recommending this as a game, but I've been enjoying myself a lot.
Cruising along the coast of O'ahu at night in my DB9 Volante and going nowhere in particular has been one of the most relaxing things I've done in a game for a long time.

Well, I caved and picked this up despite the varying opinions on it. I enjoyed the first one well enough, hopefully I'll enjoy this one too.
Not gonna lie,I i do wish I hada console to play this on. The visuals are starting to annoy Me now on my PC, i set it up to medium to geta now stableframerate. Upgrading the PC is not an option at all. Stupid Dell midi case. I might just buya console after all, plenty of games exclusive I'm interested in. Just gotta decide which to go for.
Edit: Wait a second! I though you had this game already? I'll do you a deal, you buy this and I'll buy Two worlds 2 :P
It's been on the top of my wishlist on Steam since Thanksgiving, but unfortunately funds currently don't allow a purchase. I'm hoping to pick it up next month, but I'll see what I can wrangle before then.
I'm still trying to work it whether i want a new console or PC. Stupidly the PC works out cheaper as i already have a new hdd on its way and a relatively new graphics card (like 2 months old out something). Will miss out on the console exclusive titles but then have the added bonus of cheaper games and mods. looking at ordering it at the end of the month if things go alright.
So it looks Looks I'll be missing out on a lot of games sadly.

If I had to choose, I'd personally choose PC but that's because I've been a mainly PC gamer for most of my life (technically had consoles longer, but PC games were more important to me). I also have a 360, and have had some awesome gaming sessions on it (mainly before I was finally able to buy a new PC last year), but PC will always reign in my heart.
I only have an ATI 5770 and I haven't seen anything yet that my system can't run at max settings with great framerates. New PCs are awesome.

Already have 360. Just needs repairing. Kind of sick of constantly applying thermal paste every couple weeks though. So yeah, PC for n now it seems. Funnily enough, i was a console gamer until the 360 died and was 2 weeks out of warranty. T then steam came along and well... You know the rest.

360 version has a bunch of issues being fixed/investigated as well
Service Status
* Online Play – There are currently known issues with the stability of the Xbox servers. Due to this, you may see issues surrounding joining game sessions. We are working to resolve this.
* DLC Purchasing – Online
* Pre-Order Code Redemption - Online
* Pre-Order Casino Code Redemption - Online
* Getting pre-order cars and Casino in-game - Online
* Casino Access - Online, but due to stability issues on the Xbox servers, you may have trouble accessing the Casino, or joining game sessions.
* Clubs - Offline to fix an exploit
Issues Being Investigated:
* Cannot Join Friends - Some users are reporting that they cannot join their friends games due to a "Player Not Available Online" error message or a "Server Not Available" message. This is being looked into.
* Bugged Car in Used Car Dealer - Some users have reported seeing a car in the Used Car Dealer that looks like a purple Lancia and has no stats. This has been escalated.
* Friends Filter on map does not show friends - This has been confirmed and escalated.
* No Accessory Controls (Xbox Wheel) - Xbox wheel users report that they cannot control the accessories using the D-Pad. This will be looked into.
Fixed Bugs
* Club Creation causes crash for some users - This is now resolved. Unfortunately, clubs previously affected by this issue may have been lost and will need to be recreated.

I'm not too worried about it (as I don't even have the game yet), certainly not the first buggy launch and they seem to be genuinely trying to fix it all.

A friend of mine convinced me to purchase this (I haven't played any previous ones) and so far it's been a blast except for when we can't play with each other. It's nice, in a way, because it gives us a chance to win some races and buy some cars, but I don't think we'll be mollified by that for much longer.
Other than that the game is great though. Been focusing on exploring with some racing thrown in to make some cash. The Voice acting is hilariously bad though. Even worse -- the times where they don't voice act but pantomime stuff (i.e. when you walk into a Real Estate Broker).
I keep going to the plastic surgeon just to have my guy wear bandages. They need to release that as an actual item. Its priceless picking up strangers who need your help.
Anyone else on the 360 version having trouble starting a game? I put my game in and it loads fine, but after I hit start at the title screen and hit A to make a new profile the game just keeps showing me scenery at three different times of day without going anywhere. Been sitting here for 10 minutes so far.
Edit: I played after logging off XBL and it let me in, so I think it was a server issue.
I had the exact same thing happen on the PC version. It would just pan the camera around. Took about 30 seconds before finally starting but yeah, not as bad as what's going on with you.
It is kind of amazing that they've gone to such efforts to simulate THE most disgustingly vapid human beings ever imagined. I mean, they literally mock you for being poor at the beginning of the game.
No one is ever kind, polite, or reasonable. It's impressive, in a way.
I found the plastic surgeon, and after she said, "Hmm hmm hmm. Yes, you definitely need work," I got all pissed and left.
NOOOOO! You need get something done, anything. Just seriously. Do it. And then trigger one of those instant challenges and laugh as the strangers try hitting on you when you look like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock horror movie.

The story for me is in the "so bad it's good" category at the moment for me.
My favourite part is the chick at the start saying that she had trouble picking out the colour (it's a fucking Ferrari, what were you going to pick?) That and the fact that since getting my classic car license my character has spoken two seemingly random lines.
As for the game itself, driving is taking a little while to fully get the hang of, but it doesn't seem too bad.
Is there anyway to disable the massively online part of this game, at least until I get some practice?

Oh god, everyone is more attracted to you after surgery?
I mean, my guy is a total douche with a semi-fauxhawk, so I guess he can only go up from here ../

That sounds like the same douche I picked as my starting character, whom I chose for maximum douchiness.
In fact I am now thinking that when I find some clothes stores I may roleplay as the douchiest looking racer alive. It can be done!

Let's hug it out.
A) Play dress up
Maybe drive around a bit

Is it as easy to just go toodling around and earn money and buy super fancy car as it was in the first game?
I never asked for this!

If you created a club and named it the name of an existing club, the game wouldn't take your money, and then it would also issue you a refund.
Basically a money dupe.
