    I do wonder how they'll handle players being dumb and failing to solve cases

    Exactly what are the consequences of failing to solve a case when the game is centered around getting promoted to advance?

    So theoretically, you could fail case after case, getting promoted up the ranks anyway, as though you're a character in a 40's version of The Wire.

    The way I interpreted that was that you can't fail a case. Either you'll gumshoe it like a pro or stumble through like a drunk, but you'll always end up at the correct solution. Your score will be based on how effeciently you come to that conclusion.

    In any case, I might just buy three or four copies and leave the extras in a box in a closet just so they can have my money in order to say "Keep making noir games!"
