Ryze's new ult is bad. Like.. really bad. I'm wondering if I should skip it altogether.
His ult is great while laning for regen, gives you some mana, and more importantly
It's one more button to press to lower the cd on q
get it
I've barely noticed the spell vamp when clearing a minion wave with it
and with a base 70s cooldown (I think?) I kinda expected it to be almost a full heal

Keep in mind that multi target spells get only...33% of the spell vamp value if I remember correctly.

Oh god, what did they change? Am I not going to recognize my aoe death machine when I get home from work?

Spell flux with it doesn't do a huge amount
you have to actually make sure you go something like q e w q so everything does as much damage as possible if you're shooting minions
But it should add up to around 200-250

So I never really try jungling ever. I tried pre-level 20 maybe and never looked back again. But now I really want to learn to counterjungle. Anyone have good tips or links to check out?
I have heard poppy and shack as good counterjunglers. Not sure if I want to play them for it or not.
balls. Found a breakdown of all the stat changes on Ryze that I can see from work... I have to say, yay overall nerf. I thought they said this was an attempt to make more people play him? I can't be sure till I get a game or two in with him but looking at the numbers makes me sad.

I actually took him through the jungle in a practice game. He's really really slow with the runes I took, but yes, I can imagine his ganks would be deadly. I have a feeling that some weird rune set-up would be needed for him to do it efficiently though.

range numbers are way more important than you are giving them credit for
he's much more fun and good now as far as I can tell
LoL Tribunal:

I was going MagPen reds instead of ArmPen...but most of his damage early jungle will be auto attacks, so....yeah.
E: He would be seriously prone to disruption starting at blue, just like Shaco. But I guess you could immediately revert to lane until you hit 3, then go back to jungle?
Can someone define counter jungling for me. Is it taking a jungle champ, but concentrating on disrupting the enemy jungler rather than farming your own jungle?
Or is it laning, but periodically breaking off to disrupt the enemy jungler?
Cause Poppy is obviously great at ganks, but her jungle is pretty tame/slow. (As is her laning sadly)
i think there has been some fixes. i think you'll just have to live with getting less IP overall now.
I hope not. It seems that a win (20 minute) is a few IP less than a loss in the old system. Someone argued that you coul; get more IP by winning every 20 minutes, but the problem is 2 25 minute wins is roughly 246 and 2 20 minute wins with the new system is 144, so either way you lose about 100 IP.
Quote from Zileas:
IP per minute awarded on a win at 25/40/55 minutes:
Old system: 4.7/2.7/1.9
New system: 3.0/2.7/2.6
IP per minute awarded on a loss at 25/40/55 minutes
Old System: 2.5/1.8/1.3
New system: 1.7/1.6/1.6
Either way, either you have to make your game last twice as long or play twice as much. I was 300 IP away from 6300, and as it is, I don't feel like grinding twice as much to get there (since as of this posting I still have a few hours before the day bonus kicks in, which would lessen the tedium a bit).

All of the above. It generally encompasses any tactic designed to specifically disrupt / murder the enemy jungler.
Examples include:
- Fast warding of enemy blue to allow for a lane gank before finishing.
- 5 man gank at enemy blue
- Eve trying for FB right off the bat.
- Nunu stealing enemy creeps so they cannot hit level 4 at the end of the jungle.
- Skipping part of your own jungle to meet the enemy at red, esp. with the relevant lane.
- Etc.
i would rather base IP stayed the same, but if your game drags out, lets even say past 45 minutes, you get some extra. i think with these changes we will see lower IP gain overall.

Esp. with lower surrender times, yes. Doubly so if Riot continues with League of Snowballing Bullshit like Deathcap and lower HP / regen.
They do so many things right, but they do so many god damn things wrong.
I was unfortunate enough when I showed my friends LoL to be playing a dead even game where no one would initiate a fight outside of dragon or push a tower when people were MIA. It definitely wasn't the most exciting of games, but I enjoyed it.
Someone give me a number to call Riot up. I want my 10 rune pages back. That stupid patch made mine DISAPPEAR and i dont want to wait 7-days for them to fix it!
It says that "Miditron" is assigned to my request. Is he a transformer or something??

passive... does nothing meaningful ever.
Q is garbage. not worth even 1 point unless there's someone like kat who needs shutting down.
W is nuts. great root on a pretty quick cooldown... feels like a sion stun with blinkstrike tacked on for fun.
E... base damage could best be described as "pure bullshit". nerfs to come soon. would be more fun if it were less of a nuke and more of a mine. As it stands it feels a lot like a gragas barrel with an extra hundred damage tacked on for no apparent reason.
R is interesting and very, very, very strong.
Optimal build is elusive. Mao really needs a wide variety of stats to be at his best. AP feels not-so-great even though his ratios look pretty nice on paper. Max CDR is an absolute must, because without it the cooldowns on his good abilities are too long.

Tanky CDR ap is pretty nice
I think pure tank is basically worthless unless your team is beastmode
I tried jungle Irelia in two games now... but in both games I got teammates that were absolutely determined to feed as hard as possible. First time in a while I've seen players play so poorly.
I dig him, he fits my playstyle almost perfectly. I've tried Chalice, Tear and Catalyst and don't find Chalice quite as useful as the other two in the long term. Though if they're a magic heavy team I see maybe being worth it.
I've only messed around with him in practice games some, but I'm thinking either Tear or Catalyst first, then boots > RoA/Catalyst >Boots2 > Frozen Heart/FoN/RoA and so on.
The other thing I've not tried is a Rylai's, which could be a lot of fun with the saplings.
Edit: I agree with the CDR, though I'd really like them to implement an item that builds out of Mana Manipulator besides Soul Shroud.
I hate these one-word refutes like 'what' and 'No.'
speak your goddamned minds, people
I said what i said because i watch a lot of casts of tournament games in HoN, because there are a lot of tournaments. officially. with sponsors. also, a lot of sponsored teams. there are a handful in LoL that I know of. I also find the games pretty boring to watch. only reason i do is to try and learn more about the game.
LoL has had what... like 1? with the 2nd going on currently. i'm not counting things like, the reddit tourny.
by all means, if you disagree with this statement, tell us why.

Been true ever since spell vamp was implemented
they should probably nerf transcendent blades anyway
i bet he can make some awesome ganks

at least on the competative scene. then again, LoL doesn't truely have a competative scene yet.
