Part of me wants those to be gameplay screens. The realist in me says they are cut scenes or dolled up promos. The Serious Sam in me smells some serious firepower in my future.
Nah, you can barely see their hands on the bombs; wouldn't be surprised if they were grafted on to them, though. Now I'm kinda regretting not getting at least First Encounter HD when the SS games were on sale last weekend. . .
But, wait, is that red thing it's eye? They're giving them the gift of sight? Are they mad?
More like a Sam Stone-seeking laser pointer. How else is Mental gonna steer them around?
I'm really going to have to get First Encounter HD next time it goes on sale. Considering how I've been playing various Doom WADS for months on end now I'd appreciate a little Sam to spice things up.
Man, for those of you who have never played a Serious Sam game, y'all are in for a real treat. I do recommend going back and playing the first two just cause they're damn fun.

My body is ready. First Encounter had some pretty awesome 1 map deathmatch back in the day, but no one seemed to play Second Encounter's versus multiplayer.

There's no excuse not to play the Encounters. $12 for both.

They're so unforgiving, though. I hope SS3 is as much of an asshole.
"What?! YOU DARE ACQUIRE 1 HEALTH POINT?! DIE BY MASS-KLEER, PLAYER!"
I love that so much. It was always totally obvious whenever a +1 health items was tucked in a corner and would trigger a whole mess of enemies when grabbed. I never once even considered not activating them and relishing in the carnage.

Oh man, I'm playing the Metropolis in First Encounter right now. Kicking my ass, so hard.
You remember that section that's just a long corridor? You get to a point that has a spike trap than an endless wave of werebulls.
Then Kleers.
Then more God damned Kleers and some arachnids.
Then you get into a large open square with never ending headless bastards! Oh Jesus!
It felt so bad... but so good. I was desperately fending off Kleer with my pistols by the end. When the headless kamikazes came, I was done. I just spun around in a circle shooting in all directions.
Playing Second Encounter now. Kleers and Werebulls can still burn in Hell, but at least I get a flamethrower to help them on their way. Also, I was not aware they actually made a Serious Sam II; I thought SE was the "sequel". . . now I have to hunt it down and play it, just for Sam's sake (and because NETRISCA gets a sexy new British voice actress thanks to the "increased game budget" ).

Brace for disappointment. SS2 is not the best game.

I'm with Walt. Serious Sam 2 was really disappointing to me. There was some fun to be had, but it's nowhere near the awesomeness of the originals. Definitely lower your expectations before going in.
The Insamnity 2 mod for it does help a lot though. Having a chance for some of the original monsters to spawn plus a scale slider for number of enemies (16x spawns 4 lyfe yo) help smooth over some of its inherent problems.

Agreed. I need to finish it up on the 360. Just....couldn't get into it like the first. But regardless I should get back on it.

I wouldn't even recommend playing SS2 at all without Insamnity 2. Serious Sam 2's tuning and pacing is pretty bad. You spend 90% of the game blasting away at any monster with any gun because they are on the screen. This is in contrast to Serious Sam 1 where you have to pay attention to which monsters you are dealing with and figure out which guns are the best as dealing with them and when. Granted sometimes you just spin around with the minigun because "AAAAAAAH MOSNTERFUCK JESGHUXS SHIT" but that was part of the charm. Insamnity2 does a lot to put that sense of decision making and urgency back in, especially if you rock it on coop.
I was about to comment on that, but on second thought, the opportunity to bash skulls with a sledgehammer kinda compensates for that. I am a little nervous by the presence of a reload button and iron sights though.
Don't you pooch this Croteam.

I don't see evidence or mention of Iron Sighting anywhere.
And you've got to reload the revolvers in Ep 1 and 2. I doubt it'll be a game-breaker.

SS3 looks like what Doom 3 should have been.

This is a good sign. I'm just going to assume the double-shotty is back in all it's glorious Kleer killing goodness.

Probably something short and then we'll get a full one for E3 next week. I am seriously pumped!

I don't know how I feel about the iron sights, though. What purpose would that be?
