Marvel vs Capcom 3: Pay a dollar, get three titles.
Had some decent matches with Fig, slowly learning some do's and don'ts along the way. I even won a couple of matches until he decided to be a cock-nose and bust out an unstoppable Zero combo.
By far the most infuriating thing about that game, since I can find no way of avoiding it, nor can I replicate it on my own.
Also, I'm going to have to make it a personal rule that I will not play with anyone who doesn't use a mic. Bad enough that I can't have a conversation with the other guy, but in this game I need all the tips and feedback I can so I can get better.
I wish Random would have stopped giving me Sent. Hate that guy.
Quick tips for you:
Pushblock. You would do an okay job of defending against Zero early on in my pressure, but the harder I got on you the easier it was for me to get in. Pushblock the first LMH rep and then counter with a super (preferably one with start-up invul).
Watch out for traps, unsafe offense. In that last set it became pretty easy to bait you into Haggar's assist. After all the rush down I just sort of stood back and waited for you to come to me. Be aware of your opponent's assists. Don't start something you can't stop/call out an assist for pressure if I've got Haggar loaded and ready to go.
Watch your spam. I didn't punish it, but you did like three Spider-Man uppercuts from a body length away one of those matches. Even more-so with Super Skrull. If I was using Haggar during your Super Skrull matches I would have just lariat spammed my way to victory.
Know what to cancel, when. You get trigger happy. On the subject of Skrull, you would often cancel before the last hit of tenderizer. That's free damage your missing out on.
Pushblock: Advancing Guard?
As for the rest, well I got trigger happy, as you said. I still haven't learned the usefulness of Assists, much less the best ones for each combo, so much of them were thrown out of desperation.
Also, I still feel like the game is extra finicky with the inputs online. I try to be really really careful but I still Tenderize much more than I initially planned.
And I just plain suck at Air Combos. I keep jumping toward/away from targets I launch. Gotta work on that.

Anyway, who's up for some matches now?
You sound like you're my kind of competition. Are you 360 or PS3? It seems like everyone here is playing on PS3, bleh. 360 here.
I finally got my girlfriend to play - she had a bad case of "I wish it was MvC2" and just got over it. Dove straight into mission mode on Captain America and just wouldn't quit. She put together this team of Cap/Taskmaster/Dante that defeated me and 5 people in a row on player matches. So now she's all jazzed about playing with me and I'm grinning like the fucking Joker because she'll actually play the damn game now.

You should have her come to ranbats next week!

I've decided that when I get a chance to come back and play this team I'm swapping to
Zero/Hulk/Doom since Doom actually seems fun to play and i'll actually try and learn his loop. I might toss Zero though since Shady and Biz already use them and I'd feel bad running around with a terrible one.
That and his damage is kind of shitty when you mess up instant over heads and dashes like I do. I can't think of a good replacement maybe throw Amy on point and zone or Hulk even though Hulk sucks all the dicks when it comes to meter building.
ggs to everyone I played in the ranbats. Ended up doing a little better than I expected! I think I need to play online a bit more, because I was dropping some combos I'm not used to missing. Just need to learn to account for the delay a bit.
I'm finally pretty happy with my team, at least. I think this is the first time that I haven't considered swapping someone out, after a couple hours of playing.
Good games to everyone I played tonight. I definitely need to practice more though.
On that note, does anyone have advice for doing Taskmaster's bnb as listed in the strategy guide, or some alternative combo to do. The one I'm trying is cr.L, cr.M, cr.H, f.H, M, M, f.H, M, M, S, Land, M, H, S, Super Jump, M, M, H, J, qcf. H, qcf. M+H. I keep dropping the combo when I land right after the first S. Sometimes I manage to land in time to hit my opponent out of the air with a M and sometimes I don't. I can't really figure out what makes the difference between the two cases. Any advice would be welcome.

You have to do the air double M's as fast as you can to keep them high enough. If you go too slowly after the swings then they will drop and the juggle will not continue.

I get the juggle up to and including the spike. It's just continuing the combo after I land that I have trouble with.
Tonight brought me to a very sad realization: the only reason I've been winning is because of how dumb my setup is. Hulk/Sent/Doom. I know about one combo with Hulk and Sent and god forbid it gets down to Doom because my Doom play is about as effective as slapping people with a wet noodle. I think I need to spend some serious time learning how to play my characters, or maybe switching up my team. I tried Zero/Hulk/Sent but whenever I use Zero in non-training I go full retard and forget all of his combos and it makes me sad.

That's what I mean. If you are not juggling properly throughout, and keeping the double M after each swing tight, then by the time it's over with they will have slowly fallen down too low in the combo so after you spike they hit the floor too fast. If you keep them tight and keep them high, there's enough space for the combo to continue.

ey mang winning is winning. No salt from me. My faults for not being able to handle your Hulk, good or bad. S:
I downloaded the alternate costume pack. 2 things.
1. These things actually are pretty good. Sparda gets a new demon form, Iron Patriot is actually a new model rather than a reskin as some thought and looks pretty distinct from Iron Man, Cap is awesome, Ryu is great.
2. Umm, Capcom? No recolors? Seriously? The Fuck? You can make new models, do textures from scratch, but you can't have a texture artist spend 2 or 3 hours to do some palate swaps?
Shit, if anyone from Capcom is reading this, just send me the damn textures in raw bitmap form and I'll recolor the damn things myself and send them back to you. And don't give me any shit about "oh there aren't enough buttons for 4 more textures". Just have the player hold RT and hit one of the normal color buttons to pick rather than just pushing RT itself, problem solved.
Really inexcusable half ass bullshit that spoils a really good set of models.

Oh. Okay. I misunderstood. I'll hop into training mode tomorrow and get working on that. Thanks.
so i'm pretty sure you guys said servebot was playable and now you're all silly geese and I'm super upset at you guys as I found out servebot is not playable so i hate all you all
I recall someone telling you he was like, a couple of weeks ago or something. Or they said he was in the game (which he kind of is through Tron) but I don't really remember.
What are the best team combination to get the "Copy This!", "Duty and Deus Ex Machina", "Fate of the Satsui no Hadou ", etc. trophies as quickly as possible?
I can't hit dante's qcb+L mash H after doing Sky Dance...is it really fast? Tight input window? Any tips?
If you're doing the dive kick relaunch combo, wait a little bit before jumping up after the second launch. They'll end up a bit off the ground after sky dance and you should be able to hit them with reverb shock.
What I'm having trouble with is backwards weasel shot into stinger, I have no idea what I'm messing up.

Seriously considering dropping Chun right now. Her bnb is fucking impossible with any lag.
It seems Wednesday is too busy to get much worked on, if there's battles followed by a stream.
I'm not sure what I can accomplish in a night anyways. I tried Doom and Magneto, but I just can't do anything with them apparently. So I'm stuck with three guys I'm okay with that I can't put on a team together, and I can't think of what to do from here.
Really this game just kind of makes one want to kill themselves in online play.
I avoid it, training room is more fun obviously. I just think of the matches I get as waiting for the training room to come back.
I kinda agree. I'm not sure if its the netcode or the game itself, but I enjoyed SSF4's online much more. It's probably because it isn't as fast paced as MvC3.

Yeah, he just asked if he was in the game. And he is.
no, he's not. that's the equivalent of saying background characters are in the game. that's the same as telling people galactus is in the game, as if he's a playable character. but he's not. and neither is servbot.
So I did some testing tonight. It turns out that if you can activate both left and right inputs simultaneously, you will auto-block in both direction, thus being able to negate any crossup games.
So, people with hitboxes will be at a huge advantage here.

Wouldn't that be like, everyone? :P
Yea, the name bugs me... still better than "The Stickless Arcade Stick".
If it's true, hopefully it will get patched out. It's not like a lot of people use those, but in the future, when I run into someone good at blocking crossups, I'm going to have a little doubt.
