I'm a little impatient, I'm curious what kind of info is displayed on screen during a battle. Is their anything to indicate that weather is in effect? Light Screen/Reflect? Any indication of stat boosts when you check the status screen?
I haven't noticed Light Screen/Reflect/Stat Boosts (because I'm lazy) but here's a small list of changes I've noticed:
1) Weather effects will be displayed on the touch screen, and non-permanent ones will display their duration.
2) Abilities like Intimidate pop up on the battle screen rather than as text.
3) When burnt, a Pokémon will tint red and slowly pulse. When paralysed, a Pokémon will tint yellow and slowly pulse.
I literally swore I would never play Pokémon again after I got burned out on Diamond, even gave my game away to my little cousin. Here I am now eagerly waiting for Amazon to ship the game while I think of the teams I want to make. Curse you pokéurge!

The panic music is sooooo gooooood.
Roggenrola is a surprise BEAST of a 'mon, I'm using him a lot. Also, I need a baby Braviary at the earliest opportunity, Jolly or Adamant if at all possible. You cannot get one in Black. When I get to the point where I can catch them, I will offer up a baby Mandibuzz in return.
Had surprisingly good luck getting the natures I want, too. Then again, a couple of Synchronise Munna really help, especially as Munna has Yawn and some good tankystats.
I'd say I could rely on my other half, but I doubt they'll be progressing as quickly as I will and man, I want my red-white-and-blue Americabird. One of the best designs this gen, I think!

I don't much like the monkeys, apart from the Grass monkey when evolved, he looks pretty cool.
But.
I will need to look at the movesets in both evolutions, and see if I'd miss out on anything. Interesting thing I noticed was that Tepig only learns ONE Fighting move, and only if you evolve him at the first opportunity. It's a move he learns at that level as Pignite. Oshawott also has a move he learns on evolution, and Snivy doesn't seem to. Unless the movesets I looked at were wrong.
I bought the guide thing, and was annoyed to find there is a distinct lack of pokédex/evolution/levelup movesets thing in there. Irked!
on 4chan i read a joke about the rse remake having 7 rivals who all quit trying to be pokemon masters by the third gym, and i guess it had to do with there being three rivals in bw, but i failed to see what's so funny about that.
It makes less sense in RSE because Wally goes the distance.
Possibly an anime reference too. Beside Ash every Pallet town trainer has "retired"
oh, that makes sense. i had forgotten about it. may doesn't even want to be a master.
Snivy gets nothing useful until 32, unless you're in the mood to slowly tank things to death. The monkeys learn a strong STAB'd move at 22, which is the best time to wait til you drop a stone on em.
Zoruark has U-Turn as a levelup move, worth dropping a heart scale on imo. Ditto with Victini.
So... not having followed the development of White/Black at all, I have a question.
What the heck is up with that opening scene? Since when do Pokémon Trainers get crowned king or whatever it was? Does this have anything to do with the plot?

So I don't have a DS (getting a 3DS at launch) but I am getting White tomorrow.
I want Celebi.
Would I be able to take a friend's DS with me to EBGames and get Celebi through my new copy of White?

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

Rockin' with Lilligant so far. Sleep Powder, Aromatherapy, Quiver Dance at lvl. 28 and buffed Giga Drain basically mean you can never die. Only problem is that Giga Drain, unboosted, KOs most wild Pokemon and it only has 10 PP.
I currently have Petilil and Solosis for trade as far as exclusives go. Still looking for Rufflet and Emolga. Must have electric flying squirrel. It's adorable!
Some other neat things I noticed:
- Like's been mentioned, abilities are much easier to keep track of. They flash when triggered like for example Intimidate, Sturdy, Water Absorb, Poison Point, complete with sound effect.
- The bike theme is actually awesome in this game. No more muting when cycling!
- Free unlimited vitamins! I think. They're not actually vitamins but they seem to have the same function.
- Your trainer card has a nature written on it. I'm hardy! Can you believe that?!
- The main antagonist is hella creepy.
Emolga tradeable for a Boldore in the area with all the balancing beams (you'll know when you get there), also findable in the shaking grass in the same area.
Petilil tradeable for the version exclusive alternative in the city where there are factories that have been converted into homes.
On a different note, encountered a Cryogonal, accidentally killed it. After looking for another one for half an hour, checked Serebii to find that it's a 1% encounter outside of winter on a specific floor >.>
E: Hilariously, ran into another one and caught it just as I was heading out of the dungeon.

Anyone encounter a Throh and or Sawk yet? I want so bad.
I burned myself out on Pokemon when HG/SS came out, only making it to 7/8 Kanto badges before putting it down. I hope my absence has created enough fondness that this thing turns out to be rad.
Alright!. So, at the moment I have Golden Sun Dark Dawn in my DS, Tactics Ogre in my PSP, and the last two books that are out in the Wheel of Time series to read. I feel silly asking, but all of these things should be put on the back burner for Pokemon Black, yah?
Side question: chances of walking into Best Buy tomorrow and them having it?

Unless you live in a really high population area you'll probably find several copies everywhere you go. When D/P came out they were everywhere here.
Also I dont remember if I mentioned it before but the Pass for Victini can be received at Bestbuy in Canada if you dont have wi-fi. Or so the little pre-order sheet says when I was in there last.

Exactly.
You'll learn to love their ability Sturdy, which lets them survive an attack that would otherwise faint them.
And by love, I mean hate.
Also Kirby's Epic Yarn.
I predict the foreseeable future is going to be cute.
Oh god, I just realized that means in the wild, you'll ALWAYS have to let them have at least one turn. During which they will explode.
In other news, the fossil bird rocks. Oneshotting everything so far.
I'm planning on getting White with a 3DS. Will I be able to use the WPA connection on it or do I have to choose WEP?

Unfortunately (?) you can't enter it.

They're on the Route west of the 2nd gym. Rare though.
And yeah, Lilligant is rocking. Evolved her before the 4th gym and she destroyed 2 of the 3 Pokemon.
Gonna be even better with Energy Ball.
