By the way - if you've played DA2 and you have feedback, I'm soliciting and collecting constructive criticism. Essentially trying to get the important points together so that we're not wading through ten pages of 'YOU GUYS SOLD OUT' so we can find out what folks enjoyed and didn't enjoy.
I'll be forwarding all of this on to Mike Laidlaw, the lead designer, so if you have strong feelings then this is a good time to pass them along! Looking mostly for what you liked, what you didn't like, and what the reasons are behind either.
For example, 'I thought the combat was too fast' is okay, but 'I thought the combat was too fast - I was unable to properly react to enemies and I ended up wiping unnecessarily several times' is much better. Likewise, 'I thought the personality system was great!' is okay, but 'I thought the personality system was great, I enjoyed that the 'default' options were done automatically based on my dominant personality and having combat barks with tone was also cool' is much better.
And now, I return you to your regularly scheduled DA2 thread.
(As noted, my e-mail is perhaps not the best thing to have up here. So PM me if you need it)
I need to remember to do this now that I've beaten it :P

Already PMed you my thoughts on combat... and am I the only one who said anything positive about the Rock Wraith? :P
The voice actress for Isabela was great, combined with the writing of her dialogue I felt she was one of the if not the best romance character ever in a Bioware game. Her party banter with all the difference characters was outstanding.
What are some tactics that you would consider to be "must haves" for certain characters? I haven't delved into the Tactics menus at all yet (beginning Act 2), and I feel like I really should.
If you want ranged characters to get themselves out of stupid shit on their own, setting them to Cautious behavior mode and adding a "Enemy: Nearest Visible ---> Attack" caveat at the bottom of their tactics list will do wonders I found.

I like when she started writing "Fan-fiction"(Friend-ficition as she put it) about Aveline.

Tactics for Merrill's blood mode are pretty clutch if you use her. Cast crap until out of mana, go elf blood whatever till 50% health, turn that shit off and heal up, repeat...

I'll say I lowered the difficulty to normal. It's not that I felt that I couldn't beat him 1v1 on hard, but it was taking way too long. I'm too lazy to respec, and that fight really would have taken almost half an hour, and that's if I made sure he didn't get any pots.

I think at some point Varric starts writing a romance novel about Aveline and Donnic
One specific thing I wish they'd done or maybe have someone mod in: if you're gonna use the same cave in different parts/directions, at least cut the places I can't go to off on the minimap.
Has there been any indication from Bioware when (post-release) DLC will show up?
Also, is it me or does Flemeth actually look like the voice actress. Did they scan her face for the CG model, and if so are any of the other unique faces based on scans?

He also has a party banter about his story "Hard in Hightown," which sounded like Dirty Harry in Kirkwall.
I kind of wish we'd gotten to hear some of Varric's stories. You hear a lot ABOUT them (or you hear the end of them as he tells them to someone else) but I don't remember if we ever actually hear one. But maybe it's a spaghetti incident situation where it's better if you never learn what it is...
I'm just on playthrough 2 now, this time the Black Emporium was installed from the start and I had Barkspawn the whole way through. The story Merrill tells him in act one as one of the dialogues is great. Stuff like that makes for great lore in a way codex entries can't match.

I do like all the random comments you can trigger around your house, sometimes even multiple ones in the same place. And they change over time/with some triggers too.
Like I know the one about swinging on the Chandelier changed from Sandal to Merrill after I started romancing her. And after I brought the elf from Fenris' quest back as a servant she apparently started teaching Merrill the ukulele (badly)
There's also a fun meta-joke about Varric changing your diary to be more epic and Isabela getting into everything.
Not sure exactly how to word this, but the quests feel too much like jobs (even after act 1) and not enough like stories...if that makes sense. I just wish all these people you met were more...memorable, you know about a dozen templars that you saved or whatever and the only way to tell them apart is their hair color, not their unique stories. I think this game needed less secondary characters, and more quality interactions with them not just MMO rinse and repeat style quests.

I just use her mana bar for sustained effects and keep her blood magic up at all times. So far upgraded Wrath of the Elvhen has been enough to keep her alive, though I don't think I've taken her to a boss battle yet. I have her set to drop out of blood mode and drink a potion if her health gets low enough, though.
Between work and kid...I'm finally getting towards the end of act 3 on my mage...on Merril
So when she asked for the knife or whatever to fix her demon mirror I kept it from her thinking....bad idea. Then apparently my character changes his mind and says lets go back to the mountain and find a way to fix your demon mirror...oh shit...gotta kill your keeper.
I can understand why we had to kill her...but then I had to go and destroy her whole clan? I would have rather had the choice to give Merril up and let them do what they wanted. Seemed kind of off to slaughter them all at the end

Yeah, that's my only gripe about the reused areas, really.

This was honestly my biggest complaint regarding the dungeon reuse. I don't mind it in general (though there probably come have been a *little* more variety), but having rooms on my map that I cannot access is just frustrating. Likewise, telling me there is a path to a room when there is not is also annoying.

I like accidentally seeing your neighbor nude when you look out the window. And Isabela's carving on the banister.

Son of a bitch...wish they made it a little more clear in the wheel. Although I like a lot of the replies aren't obviously good or evil...I would have liked an indication about what I was about to do.

Man, how did I miss all of these? I only found a couple things around my house, and most were semi-uninteresting.
I like that, after all the bitching about everyone wanting to be absolutely sure Isabela was not required, she is the most missable companion.
Its almost funny.
Hah, I got her just fine. Just saying, some people might need to be pushed in the direction. Then again, I'm the jackass who explores everything before the point of no return.
Whoa, I had no idea that Carver and Bethany could have different appearances. I just started my asshole mage Hawke and I used a custom face, and wow... Bethany has a short haircut, looks way way better than she normally does, and this is my mage playthrough so GRRRRRR.

Heh, I don't know, that was my first instinct of what to pick.
I almost picked the "settle down" one, but I liked taking responsibility better. She may have been my rival, but that rivalry was only gained because I was trying to protect her. I figured I should see that through (and afterall, the Keeper died protecting her). It seemed like the right thing to do.
Besides, the Dalish are all pricks so if I pissed them off, I didn't particularly care :P
You know what rules about DA2? The fact that you don't hear "shall I get you a ladder, so you can get off my back?" and "all right allll riiiight!" every 5 seconds.

I did get a fair amount of feedback so far, and I'm compiling it to send it to Mike Laidlaw.
But more is better! If you want to PM me, that's cool, and if you want to e-mail it, PM me and I'll give you my e-mail address.
I'm not actually going to be able to get through the game for another couple of weeks yet - do you think you'll still be interested in feedback at that time, or will you and the team have shifted your focus by then? I don't want to waste your time with an email you'll no longer have the time to read.

Anyway. I can agree with the inaccessable parts of the minimap. I speak much to much time ramming into doors that wouldn't open, because damn it there could be LOOT in there.
Also, I greatly apreciate Isabellas comments during combat, it's like she's reading my mind. "If we kill them, we get their stuff!"

Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

"One less to worry about!" - glad to see Garrus joined us.

What's amusing is that Carver's appearance bugged out during the final battle in my game. He looked fine in the cutscenes, but then when the battle started his hair was pure white (missing a texture I'm assuming). It stayed that way in the rest of the cutscenes that featured him too.
