P.S. - Someone brought this up, probably in the last thread, but it is amusing that the Mage Origin, your last name is Amell. I hope I don't cause a time paradox by naming my Human Mage the same thing as my Mage Hawke
Thats because the mage origin warden is the brother of Liandra, aka Hawke's other uncle.
No, the Warden is the child of Leandra's cousin. So that's Hawke's second cousin I think?
am i a dumb butt or are cross class combos kind of difficult?
for the most part you do need to spend points specifically on upgrades that allow for them but they're not too hard to execute once you do
I didn't get that cheevo until pretty late, since I'd just invested my first bunch of points into the barebones of the weapon tree and then into the specs

Yeah, most of the cross class combos only come when you upgrade powers to their second stage, both in causing the status effect, as well as taking advantage of it. But once you get in the teens, you should have the points to throw around. My 2H warrior, for example has one of the abilities that gives like a 10% chance to stagger per attack. Which then allows isabella or varric to take down most normal enemies in 1 shot

A gameplay question for anyone who has finished the game
Im in the endgame and have sided with the Templars. Have got to the Gallows and killed a bunch of Mages/Shades. I get a cutscene where some mages beg me to save them from Meredith, I tell Meredith to back off and Cullen takes them away. Meredith frowns at me, cutscene ends and...nothing. Im left standing in an empty courtyard with nowhere to go. I can go down a side corridor, the one where the Orsino & Merediths rooms are, kill a bunch of standard demons and a couple of Pride demons but its a dead end. I can't leave the area to go back to the main map and can't moe forward anywhere.
I assumed my game had bugged out so I reloaded an earlier save and worked back but nope, end up in exactly the same situation.
Looking around online I think the next stage is a boss battle with Meredith but I can't seem to trigger anything. Am I missing something really obvious or is my game just completely borked?

There should be a corridor to your right, on the opposite side of the courtyard of Meredith and Orsino's chambers.

Well, at the end of act 2 during the last mission Hightown lost all of it's textures. In act 3 I'm now running around a smooth grey city. Who said that your actions don't have much impact on the city?

Are there hidden modifiers on weapons? I'm using 2-handers, and I have my special edition sword that has a damage of 20. The highest damage 2-hander I've found is 22, but I'm finding one handed swords around 25 damage, and daggers at 28 or 29. I'm also having some difficulty killing stuff now.. not that it's hard, it just takes a long time.
So, am I missing some super special/secret weapons? Or is it just my usual bad luck?
It's normal. The important thing with Two-handed weapons is the massive arc and high attack speed, so despite the low listed damage, they destroy everything. Usually the Sword-and-Board warriors will have the same listed DPS as the Two-hander, but because of their weaker abilites and smaller attack arc, they do far less damage. Rogues do more listed damage but mostly attack single targets.
Might of the Sten is amazing for the first act, but will be replaced in late Act 1/early Act 2.
I'm partway through act 2, and it's still my best weapon (like I said, I have a 22 damage sword, but it has no rune slots). The issue I get into is with bosses in particular... I just can't dish out enough damage on a single target, and without a shield have a tough time surviving.
Honestly, it's probably all my fault... I haven't built a party around the old tank/heal/dps/dps... I go out wth Varric, Merrill, and Anders because I find them the most interesting. Obviously this is hurting me a bit, but fuck it.. maybe I'll just lower the difficulty a bit for those fights.
I brought Merrill along the last time I did the Feynriel quest (my party was Merrill, Isabela, Anders. This was just last night). I killed the Sloth demon (heard it's offer first) and did not gain rivalry with Merrill. I'm pretty sure I would have remembered if I had because I replayed that quest with several different party combinations and specifically paid attention to friendship/rivalry gains.

Was she already maxed out on Friendship? Because once a character is at max Friendship (or Rivalry), their bar doesn't change anymore.

You shouldn't need to lower difficulty. I managed to get through everything just fine on Hard with Two-hand Warrior/Isabella/Merrill/Anders. Key thing in Act 2 is to buy some armor for your Warrior. Monolith's Heart and the helmet from the Lowtown Armorer are great pieces, and relatively cheap. I also ended up spending the bulk of my money on some Black Emporium items that give me immunity to Stun/Knockdown/Flanking/Critical Hits.
Edit: Sorry, the ring is 84 gold, and sold in a Sundermount cave.
Are there any good places to pick up rivalry points for Isabela?
Trying to avoid the speed bug this time around, but we tend not to conflict very much. I don't want to lose out on her so, where on earth am I going to pick up enough rivalry points?
You get like, 25 for telling her to give the book to the qunari, right? And ten if you're pissed about the Fade betrayal. Any other good spots? I'm hovering slightly on the positive side of the bar, so it's tough going.

Have you invested in the Vanguard tree much? That's probably going to be your biggest boost to DPS for a two-hander. Maybe Berserker? Reaver's not bad, but it isn't so helpful for single-target damage.

Vanguard is the best tree 2H warriors have.
Berserker is great but you have to get up to >20 willpower for it to be worth it, plus go a decent amount of points into BattleMaster so you can get the stam regen talents.
this happens if you have anders in the party. if you converse with the demon, justice will enrage and tell you to make a choice. taking the "kill the demon option" here doesn't give rival points as the decision here is anders related.

gah misread the initial post. be an ass to her, especially when she "opens up". other than that, taking "moral ideal" over personal gain will grant rivalry points.

So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.
Weird bugs never cease. I posted earlier that after Merrill and Anders changed their armor following quests in Act 3, they lost their rune slots. I just entered the end-game sequence, and the rune slots are back (and empty). So weird!

short of taking her along and systematically figuring out how to earn max rivalry I literally don't see how there can be enough points to do it
argh I should have started in act 1 if I was going to do this
so great, I guess my choice is between "game breaking bug" and "lose a character entirely"

Yeah...outside of her quests/gifts, there aren't too many chances to gain rivalry points with her sans a few quests.
Upside is usually when you do gain rivalry with her it's a huge amount.
I think it's in the DA: O Fade that Sten tells you this. The other qunari call him The Sten, I think, and you can ask him about it.
I really want to see more qunari in DA 3. It's nice interacting with a completely alien culture.

"sten" is qunari for squad leader.
qunari do have names, but they aren't names as we know them but rather their pedigree information.
