Adobe Business Catalyst

Someone is trying to sell me Adobe Business Catalyst as a content manager for a website project I'm looking at. I've originally been considering free options like Wordpress and Drupal. Does anyone have any major opinions on the Adobe option? They offer a base level for free, but I'm always wary of these non-open source options and unexpected costs popping up to buy functionality I could have had free elsewhere.

What is this I don't even.

I've just been perusing their pricing list and what each level gets here.

Looks like you don't get much functionality at all at the basic level. Not even blog functionality.

For the price of the starter package, you can get your own hosting, wordpress/drupal/joomla set up and have a lot more capabilities out of the box than what you're getting with that package. Then you can always customize either of them with plugins to do more things that you might want to do.

The analytics section essentially looks like they're basically just consuming google analytics, which is a free service.

Personally, I'd skip the adobe product.

That's generally how I view Adobe. I didn't know about this particular one, but Adobe itself always makes me afraid. They like to offer "free" products which are almost non-functional unless you buy something. Thanks for the link and tip.

I don't mind Adobe in many aspects. For a lot of their applications they really can't be beat and they know it. This one seems like they're really just trying to cash in on their name to get them some customers.
