I've decided that I want two things out of the 3DS.
1. Super Metroid retrofitted with 3D (This would be the 10th or so time I would have bought it)
2. A upgraded port of Shadow Complex fitted with 3D.
Oh silly boy, but haven't you heard? The 3DS while capable of amazing near console level graphics can't handle the unparalleled visual splendor that is Unreal Engine 3, which is what powers Shadow Complex. So there is no chance that we'd ever see it on the 3DS. Thank you Epic overlords for telling us how weak and pathetic our new handheld is!
There is going to be a way to transfer DSi games. I'm not sure if they have given the details on how yet but they've confirmed it will happen. Since you don't plan on buying any launch games you may just want to wait.
I wonder how it works if you get coins and credit in your own Club Nintendo account, but someone else buys your DSi and tries to transfer them to their 3DS.
Hey, does anyone know if we've seen reviews on the new Samurai Warriors?
Reviews from people who don't hate relatively shallow drafted-farmhand-killing-simulators, ideally. It's kind of difficult to get an actual read on these games when most of the US reviewers don't even like the series.
I'm wondering if the second generation 3DS will have a notably better battery life, like what happened with DS fat->DS Lite. That's what I'm banking on, anyway!

I think it's safe to say that it will be a typical Warriors game. If you've played one, you already know what you're going to get. That's Koei's thing.
I think it's a much better fit for a handheld, though.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
If you've already pre-ordered then to take advantage of the Amazon UK pre-order extras (free screen protector, cheap case, £15 game) all you have to do cancel your previous pre-order and make another one!
No thanks! I like being head of the queue.
Plus I don't actually want any of the extra cruft they are trying to push.
You'll eat those words in a few weeks when a mischievous child furrows a deep groove in your touchscreen and the realisation dawns that this could have all been avoided if you'd gotten the OFFICIAL LICENSED Screen Protectors by the slightly dodgy-looking third party PowerA.
And the case is both leather-like and executive-style, making it the best case money can buy.
Still, they've dropped your pre-order price for the console itself, and I actually think that Ridge Racer/Ghost Recon are probably worth the £15. Then again, I cared so little about getting it on launch day that I selected free shipping, so I had little hesitation re-ordering.

Brilliant, that will be a great help with not wanting to have a pocket full of AR cards every where I take my 3DS when I don't have the case on hand.
That's going to cause the stuff to pop out 1/3" (or however thick your phone is) above your table, though.
Am I the only one who finds that the title of that article, and the contents found within contradict one another? The title makes it sound like if you lost your AR cards, you can use your iPhone to display them, but the article talks about setting them on your iPhone, which seems to be completely fucking pointless. Then it links to Nintendo's website where you can go to print off replacement AR cards.
I have been to Best Buy. I have beheld our new glorious leader. It was glorious.
What was that code to bypass Pilotwings and go to the main menu? I'd like to play around with the Mii maker or whatever next time.
guys, you can get those demo units to back out to the main menu
first, turn the system off, then hold L, R, START, and SELECT all at once for three seconds. then turn it back on and you'll get a message about streetpass, from there press the HOME button and you're good to go.
I'm not sure how much trouble you'd get in if you got caught doing this, but that's how.

Good. UE3 is a huge pile of shit, I'm glad I wont have to play any 3DS games that are using it.

Didn't work for me
KOOOTAAAKUUUUUUU!!!!
If i turn it off, it auto turns on in 5ish seconds.
I don't know how those demo units are set up, but when I got to try the 3DS only the machines that were for showing off the AR games even had the system menu on them. I discovered this due to one of them having been turned off and when I turned it on it had an all text menu.
[...]Could it be that were we not without an Advance Wars or Fire Emblem-style game from Nintendo for launch? Could this be it? Would those of us who devoted cumulative weeks of our lives to the great turn-based strategy games on prior Nintendo handhelds find new turn-based nirvana in Steel Diver?
No.[...]

*sigh* Ok fine you beat me down guys, I think I'll get SSFIV as a launch title and just trade in my 360 copy next time GS has another decent trade in deal. This is only because of Amazon's 10 dollar free credit deal.
The store locator on Nintendo's official 3DS page is now working (for those of us in the US, anyway). Just enter your zip code and you can find out if any stores near you have a demo unit set up.
I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, but EBgames, at least in Ontario (fine, at least in Ottawa and Toronto, from what I've seen), is offering a pre-order trade in of $125 off for either a DSi XL or 5 DS games. I don't know if the offer continues into retail though; the guy in Toronto said that it should while the guy in Ottawa isn't sure.
Man, I still don't know if I want to take the plunge. On the one hand, it'll probably be the cheapest it's gonna get, on the other I'm an unemployed student. If I knew I'd have a job for the summer, then yeah I'd go for it but HNNNGH. I did recently get a tax rebate though...
Whatevs, EB's got system demo tomorrow (the Ottawa BB has nothing), so I'll go check it out then.
The Gamestop at the mall near me is giving a $100 credit for a DSi XL trade in, $75 for a regular DSi, and $50 for a DS Lite. Of course, that ends in a couple more days and the credit has to be applied to reserving a 3DS, they won't just give you the store credit.
I have to admit I'm intrigued but the truth is that I barely use my DSi anyway and nothing in the launch title library really gets my attention besides SSF4.

That'll be my launch title too. Let me know if you want to play against someone locally. It'd be good to do some of that street pass combat stuff.

Don't forget, actual tax return is coming up soon, and not just those silly GST/HST cheques we get.
After playing with the 3DS at PAX several times, I left pretty convinced I'll be grabbing one. My only issue is that a couple of weeks ago I was convinced that it's time for me to get a PS3. I just need to know which one gets my love first. Hmmmm
I might be angling to get one for my Birthday. If that doesn't pan out though I'm still not gonna give in until Paper Mario comes out. It's getting tough though.

True. Mostly I'm wondering if they'll do the same thing the PSP titles did, with fewer enemies that have more health. I found it not really to my taste, which leans more towards "I want a killcount of several hundred inside of 30 minutes".

Are you suggesting that you drive the 15-20 minutes it takes to get to my house, and we hang out playing 3DS, PS3, 360, Wii, DreamCast, on my 73" 3D TV? You are a sick man, you hear me, a sick man!

My girlfriend's family had a 70" inch TV until the damn thing broke. It was like a fucking wall. Every single time I saw the thing it brought a tear to my eye.
I think I've decided on my two launch games. SSFIV and Rayman. I've never played Rayman 2 but I've heard wonderful things, and I do so love platformers.

But that TV sounds flippin rad!
While that arcade machine sounds awesome, when space is at a premium why not just load it up with hundreds of classic games?

The depressing downside is that you eventually get used to the size.
Anyway, it is an awesome TV and the story of how I came to get it is pretty epic.

Someone in the comments there thought of putting the image on a TV and having a huge AR card monster. This idea has merit...

they could totally put an AR card up on one of the big screens, or get a bunch of projectors and put it onto the field at Safeco.
