It really feels to me like BioWare has a grudge against attractive platinum blonde women for some reason. Two of the main antagonists in the game, Meredith and Petrice, are both blonde. Meanwhile, Hawke and his family are brunette.
When will the discrimination and vilification of attractive blondes end?
My only complaint about the game in terms of appearances was that they went a little overboard on the number of characters who have extremely unusual/unreal eye colors.
It's cool to see someone with silver or yellow or crazy surreal blue eyes every once in a while. But all too often some schmoe on the street has fucking Dune or Drizzt Do'Urden eyes and it's kind of jarring.
That's interesting, I really didn't notice random people having crazy brilliant eyes. It was just Sebastian, he was almost hypnotic with those Dune eyes.

Sebastian, Mother Petrice, the Grand Cleric all spring to mind. There's more though.
I for one love how Dragon Age has its magical shiv and Mass Effect has its magical pistol.
Yeah, that was really obvious. I think if you're a Warrior or a Rogue, it plays alright, but for a Mage character... not so much. You'd think a Mage would just do some sort of a magical Force Choke move or something. Mages probably wouldn't even own a dagger like that. Those robes they wear are packed full of lyrium potions, they aren't gonna have room for a dagger.
I understand what you're saying Chaos, but did you not read Macro9s post? Varric's Act 2 and 3 quests set up what you eventually saw pretty well.
It wasn't that much of a shocker.
I did, and I recognized the connection when Meredith talked about it.
And I liked that. It is true that templars being addicted to lyrium is a running theme, so it was kind of cool to realize why Meredith would go crazy and try to kill me.
But I still think I am entitled to give a little groan when she does a concrete shattering, DBZ style backflip probably 100 feet in the air
Isabela eyes just seemed brown to me. Elthina was blind, I think, so she has an excuse.
Wait a minute... she's blind?!
Why the heck did Anders need you to distract her to plant the bomb then? Blind people don't need to be distracted. Unless they're Daredevil. Is a Grand Cleric a Daredevil?

If she is then
I seriously doubt the bomb killed her.
I'd totally pay for an expansion where Elthina returns as the leader of a group of assassin ninjas who then takes over Kirkwall with her dark brand of vigilante justice.
Regina Fong, you know who else has huge boobs? Fiora.

Lowtown is my neighborhood. I prowl the rooftops and alleyways at night. Watching from the darkness. Forever in darkness.

I think it's stupid, it looks like a letter opener and often Hawke just stabs someone in a completely non-vital part of their body and they die instantly while he ends up somehow spattered with blood from head to toe.
There's one potion you can make that actually gives you a level up, with a 300 sec cooldown. I'm guessing that the potion only works one time, right? Otherwise, you'd just keep making it and leveling up every 300 seconds.

you can only make one, near as I can tell
the option disappears once it's created
Does this potion just level Hawke/the imbiber up, or is it the whole party?
Also, I've been away for a few days; is there any news? Did they fix those dreadful Isabela/Sebastian bugs yet or is that just wishful thinking?
Ouch my anus, think I just used all my health pots in a single fight (act 2).
A super strong desire demon and 2 waves of rage demons, abominations, revenants and shades after destroying all the evil codexs. Think I need to invest in some threat reduction for Varric after watching him kite a bunch of demons. Managed to get through it though.

I totally agree with this. It's why I always use all ranged DPS companions, so I can set them to Hold Position and they'll stay out of danger. If I want to have some variety in my party and introduce a melee DPS like Isabela or Fenris, however, then I can't have Hold Position on. But then the ranged companions coming charging into the fray for some reason (Yes, their behavior is set to Ranged, I'm not an idiot) and get melee'd all the time.
I know this was from WAY back in the thread, but dear god do NOT used Ranged if you want your people to stay out of melee. Use CAUTIOUS, then they run like bitches whenever an enemy gets anywhere close.
Just make sure you add a rule at the end of your tactics to make them attack the lowest health enemy (or whatever) so they don't just stand around, since Cautious doesn't use basic attacks by default.
That's weird.
I figured Ranged would be the correct behavior for Ranged companions. Who'd have thunk it.
I was in the same mindset until somebody suggested using Cautious in the previous thread. Once I tried it, and watched my little Merrill realize that melee was not the proper place to be casting her magics, I was in love.
Hmmm, well, I would say the proper place for her is right on top of the tank with her aura.

Speaking of blood splatter, Hawke gets it on her teeth. It's pretty gross/distracting in conversations after fights.

the 1.01 patch only fixed some trivial things, none of the major bugs.
And I haven't tried the potion, but doesn't the party auto level to hawke anyway?
A couple years late on this, but I just finished DA:O Awakenings. I was NOT excepting the twists about the darkspawn at the end, wow. Kinda sad about my Warden's story being finished, though.
I can't decide between completing Golems/Witch Hunt or just going onto DA2 already. Are there any nods to the DLC in DA2?Are they good enough to put off DA2?
Witch hunt dlc connects to Merrill's story. Golems dlc is referred to by a golem vendor npc.

This is kind of misleading. They do nothing of the sort. They are at best linked by coincidence.
Yeah, in my latest DA:O playthrough, I got 0 finishers on any dragons or ogres or anything. Zero. What the hell triggers them? Does the melee person have to get the killing blow in?
Cross class combos killing the target, doesn't have to be melee that does it.
I think, I've only gotten a few.

I don't have her spec'd for that aura yet, though now that I have Pull of the Abyss on my MageHawke I may be respec'ing her for it soon.
Thought I would post the two characters I've made so far, just for kicks:
Sarcastic warrior (beat the game a few days ago):
Goody-two-shoes mage (still in Act 1):
They're both based on presets that I made some changes to, but I thought they turned out pretty well (except there's really only one hairstyle I don't hate, and that's the one on the warrior).
edit: I friend-romanced Fenris on the first playthrough, but missed a couple of things at the end and didn't complete it (though he still stayed with me in the epilogue). Second time around I'm going to rival-romance him and see how it's different.

Goddamn, SO full of herself (and wrong, to boot).

Shall i make a list?

Merrill is a bad person. The only two viable options are to try to get her to 100% rivalry and fuck some common sense into her,

It was a little hokey
Also are there any female dwarves in this game?
You guys are crazy. Isabela has an unusual eye color. Sebastian has an unnatural eye color.

Okay, I now use two mods.
Its a pretty snazzy coat. Is it used anywhere else in-game? Or did someone stumble across some alternate costume DLC?

A guardian cleric.

She's an apostate, it's only natural her boobs would also be out of control.
This is pretty excellent.
Of course, Isabela is a pirate captain it is only logical that she is carrying lots of cargo.
That's why it's magic, duh.
