Pointer controls work perfect but it has options for classic controller.
Also this game is directed by the same dude who did...all the previous Xeno games and almost the entire team behind Xenosaga is at Monolith so calling it a cash in on the name is not only incorrect but shamefully ignorant. Its got lots of Xeno-y feel to it, but without the days worth of cutscenes nor the classic plot falling out in the second half of the game.
Plus robots. Lots of robots.
It's my favorite console JRPG this gen, hands down.

All it took was a "Xeno" to get gamers everywhere talking about Monolith's new Wii RPG. Previously announced at E3 2009 as Monado: Beginning of the World, Nintendo, the title's publisher, gave the game the new name of "Xenoblade" a couple of weeks back and had people wondering if this might be a new entry in the Xenosaga series.
It's not a new entry in that fabled PlayStation series, though. Xenoblade director Tetsuya Takahashi made this clear in an interview in this week's Famitsu.
"The world setting, story and other elements have no relation," explained Takahashi on connections to past Xeno games. "It's a completely new title."
Design philosophy also appears to be different here. Past titles from Monolith have focused on events and scenario, Takahashi admitted. However, he feels that this type of development has reached a "dead end." The Xenoblade project started off by looking at the origins of the RPG genre. Takahashi wanted to make a game where it was simply enjoyable to adventure.
He suggested that players consider the "Xeno" part of the title to be just a symbol. "I wanted to to have some sort of common point with the games I've made."
Takahashi was a little shy in fully explaining the Xenoblade name to the magazine. "Xeno" has the meaning of "different nature" or "uniqueness," he explained. As for the "Blade" part, Takahashi asked that we refer to the game's ending to find out.
You can still claim it's meant to trick people into thinking it's a Xenogears game, but this is directly from the guy who made it.
You know if you try to go to http://www.xenobladechronicles.com it redirects you to nintendo.com. Not nintendo.co.uk or anything. Just saying, although I suppose it's possible any registered page for a game in any region might go to the country select page.
Even if this did stay Europe only for some reason I'd still import. Thank you Homebrew Channel for being so easy to use that making your Wii region-free takes like 10 minutes.

A game can have nothing to do with its predecessor and still feel thematically like it's from the same series; the first three FF's didn't share Chocobos or Cid or other traditions, but it still felt like an FF game.
So I guess what I'm wondering is: does Xenoblade "feel" like a Xeno game? Will I get that same feeling from wandering around in XG or watching the cutscenes of XS?
I've been partial to the vibrant blue/green of past covers, so I'd probably go with #1.

"Did ya hear the one about the mussel that wanted to purchase Valve? Seems like the bivalve had a juicy offer on the table but the company flat-out refused and decided to immediately clam up!"
Every time I see this thread bumped, I initially get pissed off because I think it's been definitively decided it's not coming to NA. I suggest a thread title to 'Xenoblade: totally not coming to America, wink wink' or something in order to keep my blood pressure and 'net rage under control.
People are bombarding NoA's twitter and Facebook and Monado: Beginning of the World has reached #9 on Amazon's sale charts. I'm not getting my hopes up, but if Firefly can get a movie and Jericho a second season then I feel like this is worth a shot.

Yeah, I'd suggest everyone who cares to go preorder the game on amazon (still listed as monado). The results are staggering and it might be enough to convince NoA.
I plan on writing the letters sometime soon as well, but preordering the games speak louder than words.
I don't suppose there is any news about the last story to go with this?
Right now it seems to be focusing on Xenoblade because that one is up for pre-order on Amazon (under the name of Monado) and people are more inclined to listen when we talk with our wallets.
Even if NoA sucks, the power of internet fans is awesome.
Not to be a downer; as I too am a huge fan of this movement and pre-ordered it myself with 100% intentions of buying any and all of the games should they release them....preordering on Amazon is a zero sum game. It looks good, and hopefully NoA will take notice...it's just that since you don't have to put your money where your mouth is on doing this. Having the #1 game on the sales charts when not a single cent has been spent isn't terribly compelling.
It'd be another thing entirely if you could pay for the game you preordered outright and have the option to move the money to another purchase should the game straight up never come out. That would turn some heads with the bean counters at NoA.

Not to sound like a complete tool, but
I wanted this shit in January.
I spent last summer and fall, waiting for it in January.
There was supposed to be a Zelda game out too.
In March I bought a PS3, and got Valkyria Chronicles. And some other stuff I didn't have to wait for or spend ages hoping it would get released in America.
I would gladly, gladly buy a western release of Xenoblade for the Wii and play the everloving shit out of it.
But I simply don't buy that there was ever a valid reason for Nintendo taking so damn long to choose to do so.
I guess I'm not helping the cause by saying I'm just going to import it huh? Because rather than play a game of waiting that I'll probably lose, I'd rather play a game of Xenoblade.
Also why do we have two threads about this? One about the game and another about the movement? Shouldn't this be the one thread? This was here first and it's not like the actual game can be discussed yet.
So, what do you actually have to do to play this game? There's an English version. NoA won't sell it to me. Fuck them. I'd like to import a copy. A used copy, if at all possible.
But how is that possible with the Wii being region locked?
The amazon thing is awesome, that'll teach them.
The thing with Xenoblade, Last Story and Pandoras Tower is that out of the three Xenoblade seems to be the title that is actually exceptional, so I'm glad that it's the one that people can preorder like that.
I still don't understand what's up with NoA. What is the idea of completely abandoning the Wii? Frankly it makes me reconsider three times over if I ever want to purchase a WiiU.

No, it's not piracy. But PA doesn't like modding or homebrew specifics. But it's the only way to allow your Wii to read out-of-region discs.
Go to NeoGAF. Look up the "Wii Homebrew thread". They have some decent guides and can point you to the right sites. Specifically a link to their tutorial on wikidot.
That said, I am happy to let you know that Monado: Beginning of the World (also know as XenoBlade) has been announced for release in North America. Once we have more details about The Last Story and Monado: Beginning of the World, we will share all the exciting details on our website's Game Guide (http://www.nintendo.com/games/guide). If you decide to check it out, be sure to use the questions on the left to filter based on system, genre, online play, etc. - Nintendo customer service rep
Breaking the region code isn't piracy in any form, you aren't stealing anything.
People just think it is because in many cases the software to break the code usually comes with some other homebrewing properties which could lead to piracy. The methods used to break the Wii's region code does not, it is simply for unlocking.

I agree it's probably unlikely this game won't make it to your shores, but it wouldn't be unprecedented.
Ya I agree. But if all else fails there WILL be a version in a language I understand. So I'll import if needed.
Now we just need Last Story.

You do realize that the European Union HAS a national anthem? It's "Ode to Joy", based on the final movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

I have no idea what's up with NoA and their complete lack of Wii support lately.
Especially on 2nd Party titles even.

This too, we should definitely support the part of nintendo that actually seems to care about the west.
Say what you will about NOE but they do let some cool stuff get through from time to time.
It is pretty easy to get around region lock. I'll just import.

Its pretty easy but nobody can tell you how tup do it here since it falls under piracy iirc

No, it doesn't have an official release date.
(Customer Service is not a confirmation. Disaster: Day of Crisis got similar "reconfirmations" of release and never came out.)

A Yes/No answer is enough.
