So how do I join the PA group? I was told in the last thread to link to my profile which is right there

Is that all I need to do?

    Yes.

    Invite sent.

Is Steam slow as fuck for anyone else tonight?

Awesome, thank you for inviting me

How easy it is! Feel like throwing another invite out?

This time, the link actually works. Last thread, there was foolishness on my part.

OK, so I just tried to log in to Steam through Firefox 4 for the first time (as opposed to through the Steam application itself).

This has prompted Steam to demand that I enter an access code which it claims it e-mailed to me. Except it didn't. And yes, I checked my spam folder. So now I'm told I need to contact Steam support to access my account.

Which is sort of pointless because I can still log in through the Steam application any time, but still, this is moronic.

In the application, go into the settings and make sure steamguard is set up right?

I want to try the Anomaly: Warzone Earth game, but I can't get the demo to download.
Anyone here played it yet? Is it any good? I know it's cheap and all, but I'd rather not be out another $9 for a crappy game if I can help it.

    BUY IT, it is awesome.

It's a REVERSE tower defense game. You are the assholes of a tower defense game. I can't recommend it more. Well worth the $8.99 (10% off right now)

Also, to the people on the previous page discussing sales: if Steam does like it did last year, we can probably look forward to a pretty hefty summer sale within the next 2-4 months, and I would not be surprised in the least to see Shogun 2 cut a good 50% off.

Apparently it tells you if someone on your friends list matches the criteria of what they want. The ARG wiki recommends that you bug people on your friends list if you get that message.

On Steam, click the big community button and then click "Profile". Right click on that page, copy page URL. Should give you your steam community URL to share.

Try using the "Home" tab instead of the "Profile" tab, and on the right you should see something that says "Edit Profile", maybe that will let you setup your steamcommunity profile. It's been a while since i've done this so I forget the exact song and dance you have to do.

    RE: Shogun 2,

I've been waffling about getting it, but in the end I just decided to wait for a good steam or d2d sale or somesuch. In the end, the game won't really be any worse by getting it later. Frankly, its a cheating CA game, I can wait. I doubt Id even touch it for several months anyway.

But the draw of getting the sequel to the only TW game I /liked/ is very strong. Still, its no COD, I doubt it'll take half a year to get a sale or price drop.

D2D currently gives you 20% off anything by using the coupon code SHOWERS

I took the opportunity to buy the first expansion for AI War, which I can play after I have mastered the base game (i.e. never)

I LOVED the first 2. I remember reading the release has been pushed out a bit too for #3. I think I am going to hold off and burn down some backlog, and maybe see if they have a 5-10% sale or something before release to get the pre-order.

    blech server busy still...

The way leveling worked in DS1 kinda sucked.

Then they fixed it in the sequel, and as a result, DS2 turned out to be a pretty damned fine game. Its a shame you literally can't buy DS2 anywhere these days. Unless you want to pay way too much for a copy on e-bay.

I've never actually played Dungeon Siege before, but I bought the pack because I like Obsidian.

What is the deal with those games? Is it just Diablo with party control or what? Is there any reason I shouldn't just go for DS 2 instead of the first?

Well, there are no loading screens and no cutscenes for one thing. It's all one continuous world from start to finish. Aside from that, yeah, it's a very flexible hack and slash romp where your stats grow through use. Tons and tons of weapons and gear make for a very customizable experience. I played the hell out of 1 back in the day, but I haven't touched it for a long time so I'm not sure how well it holds up. The maps and mobs are set but the loot is not so there was some replayability but not enough to keep me going back for more than two playthroughs (mage and archer).
