Dirt 2 is pretty awesome, but it's also one of those that seem to pop up every time there's a major sale.
I've actually been on a Dirt 2 kick as of late, which then got me to finally install and play that copy of F1 2010 that I picked up last sale and never ever looked at. Also a really, really good Codemasters driving game. Go figure!
Ugh, I almost never pre-order a game, and I don't particularly want to pre-order Dungeon Siege III. But damn you Steam, for not selling 1 or 2 individually!!
If I were to wager a guess, I bet 3 will be on sale for 20 bucks bundled with the first two games during the Thanksgiving sales.
That Dungeon Siege deal is damn tempting. I had to pull myself from the shopping cart after realizing I know absolutely nothing about the franchise. I'm starting to put it together how I have so many unplayed games.
Having a lot of fun with Anomaly: Warzone Earth at the moment, nice take on the Tower Defence by turning it the other way 'round and making it Tower Attack. Finding/mapping the right path and using abilities is pretty much how it works.
hey maddoc, have you completed the ARG dot game in Defense Grid to get your profile potato yet, i'm finding it really infuriating - it's a little like that old 7th guest puzzle.

No, I was unaware of such a thing actually.
I just did that profile thing because I was prodded into action, and started playing the game itself for a little while. (I've only barely touched it)
Dungeon Siege 1 was a horrible game. Imagine Diablo with a full party. Now imagine that party's AI is set to play the game for you, and your role is basically just sorting through piles of uninteresting loot and clicking "go forward" along an interminable linear path for several hours. Also the game has no personality. That's Dungeon Siege.
The way I describe Dungeon Siege is as such: a game played along what is essentially a single corridor 100ft wide and 10 miles long. I vaguely recall one swamp that was open and it kind of freaked me out in juxtaposition with the rest of the game. I'm not saying it's bad per se, just something I noticed.
The massive amounts of uninteresting loot sorting, however, is dead on. I started having characters carrying literally dozens of a single type of gear; had my gauntlet guy and my helmet girl, etc.
And the skill system was kind of fucked. You go through much of the game building up melee guys and sorcerors and archers... and then you pick up one weapon and you can turn anyone to an on-par archer in about 5 or 10 minutes.
Forar on
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
* IF YOU OWN THE GAME: Go to the console on the main menu. The username/password is jsharman/ultraz7x4.
* Do "cd recruitment," run the two files there (id_scan and sign_up) and screenshot what you have (F12 in-game). Post it!
* IF YOU HAVE A SMALL FRIENDS LIST AND IT SAYS SOMEONE ON YOUR LIST QUALIFIES, BUG EVERYONE WHO OWNS DG'

Don't forget that no matter what skillset you chose, either archery, melee, or magic, sooner or later you'll find a companion that will be better than you at it.
Just loses all sorts of importance in your character when even they become second fiddle.
Anyone order the Dungeon Seige 3 preorder? I'm somewhat interested, but I'm wondering why it specifically says 'single player version' of Dungeon Seige 1 & 2 in the preorder bonus - If I do buy it I'd like to actually play DS2 multiplayer.

I believe they're both SP only because the host they used for MP is long-defunct. That's what I remember reading and it seems fairly reasonable

Multiplayer is disabled for both DS1 and DS2, not because they 'gimped' versions of the games, but because Gas Powered Games' server setup is no longer online, and the portal to Gamespy is now disabled on the Gamespy front.
However, there are quite a few tweaks I've heard about that actually allow LAN-functionality, but I haven't been able to find it, as people are tip-toeing around the issue on the Steam forums.
For all intents and purposes, though, when you get the .ini fix up and running, the game's multiplayer runs like a dream. :^:
Right, so, brief updates about the ARG since I'm mildly involved:
DG recruiting is complete, the 100 recruits will be receiving new information in a few days apparently.
There is evidence that something may happen on the morning of the 15th. POSSIBLY an early Portal 2 unlock, if we finish enough of the puzzles.
And we're currently working on plotting photos of locations (extracted from alpha channels of images in encrypted archives....this shit goes deep) on a map of Seattle, after which we'll need to "connect da dots". Preliminary work points to these dots spelling out the word "REWARD".
Hrm watched some game play videos of dino dday, looks like a DoD mod, very amateurish animations. Doesn't look worth $20 at all.
The game actually did start life as a Source mod, IIRC.
Which is why finding actual gameplay of the new version kinda hard. I eventually found this video just now though. It's 10+ minutes of guys talking over gameplay and giving very brief "descriptions" (used very loosely) of each class.
And while it looks like it would be fun jump in and not take seriously for 30 minutes, it screams Source Mod and doesn't really look like it warrants the $20 price tag, at the moment.
Wasn't Dungeon Siege 1 & 2 in the Steam backlog file for the longest time? Like Rise of Nations still is?
Did I understand you correctly that there is a chance Rise of Nations will come to Steam?
Maybe. A few years ago people found it listed while going through some Steam files. I'm just trying to remember if Dungeon Siege 1 & 2 were also found around that time.
2K owns the Rise of Nation/Legends IP and owed the Dungeon Siege IP before Edios bought it.
Guys the EA store has some pretty awesome deals right now.
Dragon Age 2 with a free copy of Mass Effect 2 (Also if you bought DA2 before April 30th you get a free copy of ME2)
and
Battlefield Bad Company 2 Digital Deluxe Edition reduced + Vietnam for free
and
Mass Effect GOTY Edition for dirt cheap.

There doesn't appear to be one =(
Way to go Decoy.
I haven't played Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 in so long, but I'm excited to jump back into the fray

You don't have to buy from the EU site. I've bought from the UK one without any problems in the past.
Steam - Wildschwein | The Backlog
Grappling Hook Showdown - Tumblr
My Defense Grid screencap
Yeah, I ended up doing that. More expensive than paying with eurodollars though.
edit: jaysis. the euro is at 8.97 SEK, the dollar at 6.21.
I'm still used to both being at 10.
that's because nobody considers EU canon, Echo.
Oceanic SWTOR Guild - Voidstalker Brigade

What is this about the dot game now?

Looks like someone on my friends list is needed. All of my Steam friends are PA guys.
Edit: I'm an Admiral, though. Interesting.

At least Xenobiology is a pretty kickass specialty. Being an Ensign in that field though means I'm a prime candidate to get redshirted. Hah.

It does not look like a fun $20 game though.
Oh steam, how you've ruined me.
Its just the animations.
Theyre sooo..
Bad....

I haven't bought the DLC, but I recommend that you Gold medal everything before buying the DLC. This game is a time sink.
