Lol at all the people saying this game will be a grind fest... i thought that was the point of games like this. Just run around and kill shit and get loot then use that loot to kill more shit and gain more loots. Rinse and Repeat
The Koreans know how to take grind to a whole new level.
The original Hellgate London wasn't a grindfest, leveling up was actually pretty fast. The biggest issue was all of the game breaking bugs that stopped you from progressing.
So has anyone played the Korean release previously? I'm wondering what all has changed.
From what i've heard, the game is actually very playable and pretty balanced. The single player has been removed though but the multiplayer has a lot of new content and PvP modes.

One of the guys working on it said that pretty much anyone who wanted to get in could get in either via the main site or from MMO site partners who are giving them out.
I don't think they intended it to be some exclusive thing; my understanding is that they did the actual beta in Korea/japan last summer/fall and that this is more of a stress test on their new global site servers, as other countries shouldn't need to connect to asian servers.
Also keep in mind that the "beta" is only scheduled to last a few days.
Yeah that's a good point. Was Hellgate Tokyo ever a thing? Will we be getting that too? Where does it fit in the whole play structure?

Tokyo was a thing, but it was a secret thing we all thought was a joke, or at least quite some time away before Flagship would actually produce it.
Flashforward to now, and it turned out that all the time they were seeming to be joking about making a Hellgate: Tokyo expansion that they were actually working on it.

Well when are we getting the keys? I mean those of us that were accepted.
That doesn't happen to have an offline mode does it?
I really want to play this again. It would be nice if they kept the offline mode and continued to patch it. That was one of the big things that Flagship Studios shot themselves in the foot over; they wouldn't patch the single player part.
How come that's a bad thing? Other than games haven't done that for years and years now. I don't think i've seen games install to the root of C drive since Windows 95.
It's a bad thing since nowadays most of us keep our games installs and windows partitions separate. It's not necessarily going to make your computer explode, but it's still not where we want it.
I didn't want to wait for them to get around to e-mail me a key, so I went to the GamesRadar link and got one. Only to have the client tell me it needs to re-download. And it can't be minimized. Little things like this are already diminishing my hope in this thing. I'll post some impressions if I ever get it to run.
None of the account/server data that was used by Flagship is going to be used by the new overlords. If anyone has any glimmer of hope that their old characters may show up, just throw it away now. Not gonna happen.

The beta won't start for a few more hours still, so don't worry about having issues getting the game downloaded and installed.
Having said that, yes, the downloader and installer is shit and annoying; but it gets the job done; eventually.
And I think randombattle is right; you'll just have your "key" tied to your account on the t3fun site and you won't get a literal key if you got accepted into the beta via the site.
I'm able to get as far as the loading screen, and it just hangs forever.

I just requested a re-send of the confirmation email and that did it.

I don't think you get a key it's just tied to your account.
I never asked for this!
