I think that would've worked if he ran straight in with the roaches ASAP.
Spent a fair amount of time just sitting outside the expansion with his roaches, and MC only just barely had enough time to hold that when it hit ~10 seconds later than it could have.

I think it speaks as much to MC's brilliant skill as to Morrow's with that second game. A clutch hold by Morrow, but the fact that the game continued on for that long afterwards despite a TOTALLY failed all-in, really speaks to MC's ability.
Not that it made much difference in the end but my fiancee and I were on the edge of our seats for that all-in. I haven't felt that tense since HuK's game in the Code A Ro16 vs some Zerg on Terminus RE.
Also here is a really stressful game where I played quite poorly, getting outmicro'd in several engagements and getting completely surprised by a large drop but managed to eke out a win due to macro.
I would appreciate it if you guys were more descriptive since I can't watch this at work. Come on be liveblogging esports writers for me!
Game 1: MC opens 3gate sentry expand, Morrow goes 14 gas 14 pool. Morrow drones like crazy and then takes an aggressive third. is up 60 drones to 41 probes, MC goes stargate with 1 voidray and a few phoenix, in a scuffle at Morrow's pending third hatchery he denies the hatchery, kills three queens, and a few hydralisks, and loses only the void ray. It snowballs from there, with MC taking a third base before Morrow rebuilds his third, and making a deathball of gateway units with only 1 or 2 colossus,
Game 2: MC goes for a 3gate blink all-in on Crossfire while Morrow opens 14 gas 14 pool. Morrow repels it completely with roaches and a pair of spinecrawlers, loses no drones or queens, and only roaches while pushing MC back into his base and being up double his supply. In a display of tenacity MC holds the game out for another 10-15 minutes, nearly manages to come back at one point but eventually the economic advantage is too much
Game 3: MC goes for a forge first on Shakuras, perhaps anticipating a hatch first. Morrow again does 14 gas 14 pool and then cancels his pending hatchery once he denies the scout and goes for a roach all-in. A flawless forcefield keeps MC's sole cannon alive long enough to get a second sentry and stalker out, and a few tense moments later with some clutch forcefields and quick building placements, MC's voidray pops out and the rush is felled.
Y'know one thing about the multiplayer I'm curious about, is whether my mouse is decent enough.
Optical of course, Logitech brand. Has on the fly DPI adjustments, only real fancy part aside from two thumb buttons.
yes it will be fine make sure the sensitivity is comfortable for you and make sure if you haven't already you go into your control panel (assuming windows) and turn off Mouse Acceleration (aka Enhance Pointer Precision) and get used to that asap as it is way better than trying to play with it.

I'm high diamond and I use the following:

Mousepad: manila office folder, $0.05
keyboard: piece of crap wireless MS keyboard that's about 5 years old, $45 five years ago

Map 1 on Metalopolis: Morrow opens pool before gas, MC goes 3 gate expo into VR/phoenix. Air harass from MC kills 3 of Morrow's queens and Morrow's third (he chose not to cancel it) a second before hydras come out and kill the VR. Morrow tries to push MC's quick third but comes off badly against MC's phoenix/gateway army. Morrow takes a fourth as he replenishes his roach/hydra but MC is too far ahead and pushes the fourth to win.
Map 2 on Crossfire: Morrow opens the same, MC goes 3 gate blink stalker timing attack. MC's attack is rebuffed easily at Morrow's natural thanks to two spine crawlers and some roaches. MC tries to transition into colossi and takes his natural. Morrow takes a late-ish third and goes roach/hydra. Morrow tries to sneak in like 15 tunnelling roaches into MC's front but MC spots it early with an observer headed towards Morrow's third, Morrow retreats. They have a few skirmishes mostly slightly in MC's favour with Morrow making good use of burrow to retreat. Morrow finally corners MC sniping two colossi and even uses drones from his third to block MC's escape. Morrow then manages to cut off the retreating blink stalkers for the win.
Map 3 on Shakuras: MC opens forge FE, Morrow again opens pool before gas. Morrow goes early roaches, MC goes voidrays. Morrow cancels his natural (I think?) and opts for a fast roach/ling all in. MC only has one complete cannon, one building cannon and sentry and a stalker to defend. Morrow delays for ~10s outside MC's natural before pushing, takes out the cannons and then the cybernetics core opening up the wall but MC quickly rewalls with cannons and pylons just in time for the VR to come out and mop up. MC holds the rush and wins the series.

Was wondering what you guys were talking about with that, figured it was an in-game setting. Not much difference outside of game, had to dial back the DPI though since my cursor just about flung off my screen.

Turning off mouse acceleration/pointer precision should have the opposite effect, it should need you to increase your sensitivity as moving the mouse quickly will no longer move it further than moving it slowly.

Uh... >.> Practice League and I've not even bothered to do any multi yet. I know you guys suggested not to do it, but I know how a real match tends to play out in the beginning anyway and it'll give me a chance to get my muscle memory good.
Decided to try using the Grid keyboard settings someone mentioned in the last thread, I like them a lot better than the standard. I don't know why but reaching so far over to like... the U or P or L key seems like it'd make me mess up more often than not.
Only other change is making the thumb button right below where my thumb rests is set to my drag camera.

If you want to sort out your muscle memory play vs AI.
The practise leagues are played on...Fast, I think, and the real matches are played on Fastest, it will not help your muscle memory in the slightest.
And which hotkey setup you use is a personal preference thing, the only reason I think that people who don't use Grid don't switch is that they are a) too lazy and b) it isnt a big enough difference to be worth a massive re-learning effort.
I am having a problem with the start, where when I get lag I get a perfect start but a few games won't lag and that completely throws me off. The lag is like slow motion for me, so not having it I mis click everything. Really tough to get control of.
Yeah Dhal it's weird, I uncheck what you say and suddenly my mouse cursor zooms about like a road runner, but if I check it again it slows back down and I need to turn up my DPI again.
I have been playing a couple games doing the queen+slowling opening and I feel really safe up until lair tech but then I just feel like I can't do anything. I'm tempted to just skip getting ling speed and using that opening to switch into Roach/Hydra which I feel much more comfortable in.
After playing protoss for a while they are a bit harder to macro later on because of the way gateways work, I wish there was a way to just build units out of the gateway without having to select a spot on the ground. But yeah, other than that I really just need to focus on remembering to build them.
don't research warpgates, and play like a terran?
i mean really, if you're complaining that WG's are making your macro HARDER, then maybe Protoss isn't for you.
For me it is more difficult late game, other races you just hit 3 (whatever the hot key is) and aaaaaaaaa a bunch. For protoss I have to find an energy field, hit w, hols s or whatever and then click a bunch. It is difficult if I am doing something else already since I am so use to terran where I can be anywhere on the map, hit 3 and mash a d ad ad, it takes a second maybe.

Odd, I'm on Win7 so maybe that's it?
hm, maybe its a different setting on windows 7. i have read that there are special tricks that need to be done to disable mouse accel.
try this test once each with it on and off.
put a little pencil mark somewhere on your desk, then another one about 2 inches away. move your mouse from one mark to the other slowly, then quickly. If it moves further when you move it quickly, try it with the other setting. if it moves further when you move it quickly, acceleration is on and it will mess with your accuracy.

last game morrow tries to do a hatch cancel into 7roach rush
MC holds through clever forcefields and sim city placement

What you have is more than enough to get started.
All keys are customizable like a mofo, but grid does sound like a good way to start if you haven't played before.
I use standard with some minor tweaks (i.e. I use 'T' for a ton of the upgrades accross multiple buildings).
