So, Getting one or more of the double-your-coins/armor
+ focus on making the biggest chain possible no matter what
+ always go for damage/weapon when offered
= big dividends in my last three games.
All were over 700 turns (on Normal), but the games all seem to take a sharp turn from "I'm rollin', son" to " . . . holy shit, I might be in trouble" around the 600 mark.

Huh, that's neat. Though you'd also be splitting your trophies between unlocking new classes and leveling your current one; all Adventurer trophies would be new classes. Seems more efficient that way IMO.
If you want all classes as quickly as possible, then yes. But considering you'll want to level up every class up to at least 5 (to unlock the ability to change races), you may as well take what you can get.
Personally I'd stick with Adventurer to unlock them all.
Then when you go to level them up, you'll get the ability to use perks/flaws from all the others (since you'll have them all available once you've unlocked all the classes).
My mage is level 5 now, and my assassin is 4. One more then I'll try something else.
Quick question, if I enchant an item, than later buy a better version of that item, do enchantments stay on the new one?
Generally speaking, yes. If you tap on an item you're looking to buy, at the bottom of the dialog you'll see what your current item is. If there are any special abilities that the old item has that the new one does not, that ability will be colored bright green in the description of the old item.
So I just found my new favorite skill combo: Masochism + Treasure Chamber + Halfling ( + clear all potions/shields).
Activate Treasure Chamber, clear out everything so you have nothing but coins, a few swords, and maybe a skull or two. Activate Masochism then kill the full screen of skulls, netting you at least 1 level up and +1 base armor (thanks to the halfling). Then you have a complete screen full of coins you can collect. Bam, you have a consistent way of leveling up gold, XP, AND base armor.
The iPhone game thread piqued my interest, but because I'm a miser, I only grabbed the Lite version. Which didn't work on my phone until an update last night.
This morning I installed the update, played one game, and instantly upgraded to the full version.
The only reason I'm not playing right now is because my battery is dead.
I know I'm going to see the tile layout in my dreams tonight.
Spikey is the one that deals an equal amount of damage to you that you just dealt to it.
Rorus - I thought Mimic was still in the game, but now all it does is copy your armor value instead of looking like a different tile.
Deathprawn - That combo using Treasure Chamber/Repair/Masochist...fucking brilliant. Only issue I've had so far is I'll occasionally get a boss to pop on masochist and I don't have enough swords out to take it down. But the amount of coins and xp i've gotten, if i'm fully maxed on bonus, I'll level twice and go shopping twice.
Masochist is totally awesome (old news probably, but I just got the raider class) and has totally replaced dazzle. Someone posted earlier about using the 5xDMG skill...works really well in conjunction with it when a boss pops.
I haven't tried the game on hard, I'm enjoying Normal just fine so far, but I'm wondering how much the degree of difficulty goes up because I'd hate to start playing it on hard, get frustrated and rage quit, never to play it again.
Well that sucked. Having a good game around turn 600 on hard, had been rolling great, had close to full health and armor. Board looked good, took some coins, monsters swing, dead. WTF? I hate when you fie like that and have no clue why.

So yesterday I took a few runs using the Masochist + Halfling + treasure chamber + collect something setup. So much fun except when you either forget to leave yourself enough swords to kill everything or when FUCKING MEAT SHIELD SHOWS UP RIGHT AT THE LAST SECOND FUCK YOU.
How does Meat Shield work? I haven't come across him yet.
If he's down, you can't hurt any other skulls until he dies.
So if you hit Masochism and a Meat Shield appears, you are boned, because even if you kill him that turn, you can't kill the 14+ other skulls on the screen.
Yep. Damn near killed myself once when I treasure chamber/masochism'd a full screen of skulls and swords and just barely noticed that one of the skulls was a spikey.
how the fuck do you kill spikey, not until i read about him had i encountered him, but i tried widdling him down and it ended up killing me
Usually I just make sure my health is high enough that I can kill a spikey and survive, if one happens to appear.
It's much tougher in the late game. Having a lot of blunting helps, as it lets you hit him once and then ignore him for awhile until your health is back up and then finish him off whenever you want.
Alternatively, use a "get out of jail free card" like Teleport or Banish. I almost never take those kinds of skills anymore, though.

Hit him for small amounts, then heal back up. Late in the game I just rely on blunting and spikes to take care of him. I take a chunk out of him, then basically ignore him while he hits me for nothing because he's blunted and takes spike damage until he's dead.
The developer of this game posts on these boards. It's sort of curious that he hasn't posted in here yet. If he does, be sure to ask him if there are plans for this (his handle is in the OP).

Blunting lowers the damage you get by 1, not worth it. Repair is like dexterity but worse, also not worth it. Here have some things I typed out on another forum about good perks and skills:
Take -10% bonus chance, its just a lower starting point and you will max it out soon enough. Other great flaws: -1 armor (who cares, you make up for it soon enough), cant damage skulls first three turns (like that will ever kill you) and -10 health since you can easily make up for it.
Best perks: The arrow one, regen one (make a terrible stat twice as good!), Cunning and depending on class Intimidating or Daring.
Pro skills: Masochism (now with the meat shield, not so much), all collection skills, Magic Sword, Treasure Chamber.
Terrible: Slash, fireball, enchant, everything that transforms potions, kill or transform a single enemy skills, Freeze (just a stay of execution really), Earthquake, steal and so on.
I am in the top 50 for both hard and harder for reference.
To add onto this: Always focus on getting your +GP/UP/XP up asap and on your helmet. Why the helmet? Because it occasionally automatically upgrades your stats while buying new equipment and almost never removes stats unlike the shield or chest. Max out your % bonus chance asap too and if given the choice pick health over armor and weapon damage over base damage.
Other stats to focus on: Armor Piercing, Health Leech and Durability. These will all make your life easier.
Best level up bonus: Luck. The less health potions you need to get back to full the better.
A decent build: Treasure Chamber, XP potion, Treasure and Boost Gold, be a Saurian. First fill up the whole screen with coins, pop Boost Gold and TC. Use Treasure to collect the whole screen resulting in a second screen filled with coins. With a bit of luck the saurian scrolls ability will have made a second TC or Treasure a choice upon upgrading, choose it and get another screen full and so on. Using this build I've managed to get at least 7 screens of coins in before stopping and having to clear the screen again.
Blunting lowers the damage you get by 1, not worth it.
I do think blunting is kind of lackluster, but it does more than just lower your damage one point. If you only have 1 level of blunting, every enemy that hits you has his damage lowered by 1 point. If there are 10 enemies on the screen, that's 10 points of damage reduction, multiplied by the number of turns they stay around.
I guess a better starting point for me would be to find out exactly what all the different skills do.
I don't really have a problem against regular skulls...it's the special ones that mess me up. I've found that disarm is nice if I'm in a bind since suddenly I'll have a billion swords to kill the special guy with.
I've been grabbing leech and regen...maybe not a good idea I guess.
I figured repair was the armor equivalent of regen. Darn.

Still not that great, though.
Man, when you are getting a ton of upgrades from Double Shields+Repair, you can get a ton of blunting and it helps a lot. I've had 6+ blunting several times before and you can just completely ignore skulls that have been on the screen for two turns already and let them build up. It's pretty sweet if you have the right build.
But if you aren't getting that many upgrades, there are definitely some other things that are more important. Armor durability and the + bonuses to gold/upgrades, especially.
I'm not just trying to disagree with davincie, though. He obviously knows what he's talking about. I kinda disagree about Enchant being terrible, but otherwise it's good advice.
@Heir: Repair and Dexterity increase the amount of armor you recover per shield you collect. So if your armor is down to 1/30 and you have a lot of repair, you can replenish all of that with three shields.
I generally prefer Blunting to Regen because it increases in relative effectiveness with the amount of skulls on the screen, which is usually a good metric for how fucked you are at a given moment. For n skulls left alive you'd need n points of Regen to equal one point of Blunting (and that's assuming you live through the turn). With six skulls left over you'd need 30 points of Regen to equal 5 points of Blunting. Gotta stack it though, like everything else.
Regen is still important. Does Leeching have a cap? I've only ever gotten it to 18%. The double Regen perk is very nice, and frees up potions for the Potions -> XP skill.
Also Poison works great on Meatshielded skulls. I only see Poison upgrades very rarely though, so I try to grab them whenever possible.

More specifically, you'll occasionally get a trophy that unlocks a new class or level from killing a special monster. I recommend going for the Big Game Hunter skill if you're trying to unlock things.
You can both get new classes and level up the current class by playing as a class, so no need to keep going with adventurer once you've gotten your first class available.
Actually I've got another question. How do I unlock new perks, classes and races? I've gotten barbarian, but that's about it.
Probably doesn't help that I'm only getting maybe 2500 point or so a game before I die.
Unlock new classes by playing as an adventurer. Level up classes by playing as that class.
You can also unlock new classes as playing any other class. It's just that since Adventurer can't level up, playing as one guarantees that your trophies will all be class unlocks instead of class levelups.

When you reach level 5 as a class you unlock the race tied it for other classes, you can then use that race with the other classes if you reach level 5 with them.
You unlock 2 perks for every class that you unlock and you can use more perks for a class every 2 levels you get with a class.

Fuck spikey in the dick.

Poison has saved my ass so many times. Particularly on enemies with obscene armor and low health.
Poison also works, dosnt reflect back at you.
What does blunting do?
What about repair?
Anyone have a good list of tips and tricks? God...I bought this on a whim based on this thread...now I play it WAY too much.
