Android phone eating my bandwidth

Rotting MeatRotting Meat Registered User regular
I have a Motorola Milestone (Canadian Droid). Since updating to 2.2 a month ago (and potentially installing some apps as well), my data usage has increased immensely. I went from ~3meg a day to ~30. Today I've only done text messaging on my phone and it's used 8meg.

Clearly a background app (or system?) is using up all my bandwidth. How can I tell what is the culprit?

Thanks.

Have you checked in on the Sync settings (Settings -> Acconts & sync)? Not sure how you would determine which app is doing it besides disabling syncing for all of them and then enabling them one by one and monitoring usage.

Thanks, I did cut off my sync settings. I also found '3G Watchdog' which might help me. For now I guess I'll have to take the wait and see approach.

If you're rooted, get DroidWall and start cutting off apps one by one.
