Hey look....there is a draft underway. Who goes to what team? How much will they get paid? Let's blast the picks as well as Mel Kiper, Todd McShay and Chris Bermann!
There are a lot of very surprising picks. My favorite is Nick Fairly to Detroit. That Detroit line could be monstrous.
I hate Fairley (he's an *incredibly* dirty player), but love this line. Hmph.

I am surprised that Washington didn't take a QB. An actual smart move by the Skins. WTF? 4 QB's taken in the draft?
It is very strange to actually be feeling some Lions pride as an adult. It'd been missing since Barry Sanders and my teenage years.

The Texans chose JJ Watt, probably move him over to DT and give Okoye the boot.

Took the words right out of my mouth. It's tough for me to like any pick other than Amukamara there (dual Nebraska/Lions allegiances), but ohmygod that defensive line. There's enough leadership already on the line to keep Fairley in line.

Thank god the Saints traded up and took Ingram. I knew the Bears would have taken him if he were available, totally neglecting the fact that our offensive line is terrible.
Now if we get another OT, something for the secondary, and a decent wide receiver, I'll feel really great going into next season.

I am not a Saints pick of Ingram.
Defense needed more attention. I would have preferred Muhammad Wilkerson. Plus the Saints gave the Pats a 2012 1st and the 2011 2nd for him.

I think Belichick's plan is to have every first round draft pick in 2020 or something.
Fairley's kind of a giant dickhead on the field though, right? Did the Lions just draft the defensive line version of Claude Lemieux?? (I only expect enlightenedbum to really understand the analogy)
Fairley is a dirty piece of shit who I wanted shot until 2.5 hours ago.

Hopefully as talented, but yeah. Dude tries to hurt people. Between him and Suh there will be like 15 roughing the passer calls.

I'm glad to see that the Bengals didn't follow the conventional wisdom and waste their first pick on any of the quarterbacks. Really glad that Green was the pick. Between him, Shipley, Caldwell, and Simpson, not to mention Gresham at TE, I think this could be the deepest receiving corp in the league in a few years. If they have someone to throw them the ball. I hope they realize that even though none of the quarterbacks were good enough for such a high pick we still need a qb out of this draft, even if Palmer does come back. If we can get Dalton I'll be really happy.
Or you intentionally suck next year for when Luck graduates (not runs out of eligibility, but graduates).

I am still talking myself into the Blaine Gabbert era
Mallett was, by all accounts of the people I knew in the dorm with him, a HUGE asshole who everyone on the team hated.
Of course, Gabbert is terrible, sooooo

Poor Vikings fans. More than likely they'll get a few games where Ponder seems like he's going to be the next franchise QB, but then he'll be knocked out by an injury. From then it'll pretty be just like Matt Stafford: never healthy for long enough to help the team.

You shut your dirty whore mouth, Matty Iced-Shoulder is playing 20 games next year (because the Lions are going to the Super Bowl, duh).
Love the Fairley pick, I don't care if he's an asshole or not. Rodgers/Cutler/Ponder are going to be running for their lives.
Being a kid in Jersey, I grew up a Giants fan. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about the Amukamara pick. On one side of the coin, he was clearly the best player on the board at the time, and the G-men's secondary has been injury prone lately. On the other side, the Giants really need to improve their linebackers, and their O-line has also been injury prone. I'm really not sure how this is going to turn out.

Poor Minnesota fans.
With the 12th pick, the Minnesota Vikings select a quarterback who may have an injury problem.
With the 13th pick, the Detroit Lions select someone hell-bent on helping Mr. Ponder with that injury problem.

Is it bad when Kiper and Gruden compare your QB selection to Chad Pennington? I don't know wtf the vikings were thinking. Favre & friends got pounded last year. The o-line has major issues so they draft an injury prone QB 1 round too soon. Great thinking
Also, Mallett will lose about three seasons to the drug testing policy. Just a warning.

Yeah, the combination of a once-in-a-decade talent and a once-in-a-decade mean streak just sounds appealing. Almost like having an enforcer running for your big points guy in hockey.
Also, not sure about Jake to the Titans. I don't know if the fanbase is going to be all that patient with Vince Young 2.0 - Now w/Out the Dickheadiness. I think he can learn what he needs to if given time; when he was looking to slide into the early 2nd I was hoping he'd get picked by the Pats and have time to learn from Brady for a few seasons. I'd even root for the Pats if that happened.
Sadly I don't think he's going to get it done in Tenn though, which is too bad because it's actually impossible to root against the guy. He does have an awesome running game there though, that will help.
And the Seahawks get line help...in the form of a 'who the hell is that guy?' OT chosen specifically because he can run block. Uh, guys. Run blocking OTs generally aren't great value in the first round.
Don Banks predicting Ryan Mallett to the Raiders in round 2.
I think the rest of the league needs to just agree to let this happen.

Temporary stay on the lockout is granted. We are re-locked out.
The crowd doesn't look to have responded well to that.
Which means, because the barely-undrafted players won't be able to field calls from 5-6 teams and get to pick their situation like they usually do, and have no teammates to contact, and just generally have no lifeline to the league to hang onto whatsoever until the lockout ends for good, Mr. Irrelevant now becomes the dividing line between NFL and UFL.

Huh, interesting. Still need back seven help desperately on defense. And I want a tackle.

We now have two defensemen from Clemson in Round 2, and neither is named Da'Quan Bowers.
We are in some kind of hyper-level Rodgers Zone here.
EDIT: And there he is right on cue to the Bucs at #51. And the pick got booed.

I am saddened that the Raiders did not live up to expectations and take Ryan Mallet in the second round.
I guess i have to wait until the #17 pick of the 3rd round.

exact words of me and about 7 people I know.
Then again I haven't been paying attention to the combines and reports that closely this year.

I mean, look at the guy:
Glad Kerrigan went first round; too bad he couldn't stay in IN, but we've got DE's.
Also glad the Colts took an OL. Not very familiar with Castonzo, but the talking heads seem to think he's a pretty damn good lineman.

He's also a statue. Whoever takes him better take a lot of offensive linemen, because he needs lots of time to throw.

Mobility is overrated as long as the dude can get the ball out of his hands quickly

I have a hard time believing he will get back to them, both Washington and Seattle seems like they would take him.
I mean, unless teams know he has a dead hooker in the trunk of his car
