oh man guys, did something awesome in Norway 1 last night that I had to upload it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfGLlVc2xAE
walls are made for driving on! Still won the stage too
All this crashing is getting really frustrating. It always happens during loading and never during actual gameplay. And it's pretty crappy. Sometimes I can play for an hour without issue. Other times, I can't even make it to the title screen.
I had an have the same issue with DiRT 2 and the fixes I've heard work, uh, don't.
I think I put in over 8 hours, so yeah it's shorter but far more enjoyable. Dirt 2 felt like such a long grind that I never finished but came close. Also I think there's 5 seasons.
I do however still need to do the small triangles but that is optional stuff and I did the rally one. There is also of course single player time trials to get through! I need to place 1st on everything.
That is much shorter. It took me forever to finish Dirt 2, talk about grinding.
I frickin' love this game. But I still miss some things from Dirt 1. Hopefully the cars and tracks they're offereing via DLC will give us some of that back. No Lancia Stratos off the bat?! What?
Yeah i'm really bummed out about the Lancia Stratos not being in the game. Paul Coleman hinted at the car being in DLC though so we'll see. Only 3 group B rally cars is crazy disappointing.
Huge jump in difficulty suddenly, when I hit the Michigan Trailblazer races as the final in the Oakley Pro tourney for the second season. Had to go back to hood view and run it over and over in order to podium. Turned out to be the car, mostly. The Ford Escort Trailblazer just doesn't have the required traction. I retired, hit rank 11 from the attempt, and it unlocked this kick ass racecar looking car. No travel, but on the smooth Michigan roads it just books.
Anyhow I'm rambling, the game is just great. When do I unlock the MINI Countryman?!
I had a few attempts at the Norway Trailblazer stage, I was using the Audi. The FOV from the in car view is a bit limited, and even toughter in the falling snow. The Tocoma's FOV in the cockpit however, is much bigger.
You have to install the Rapture3D audio driver manually (It's in the DVD, or the Redist directory) and once you installed it, you can run the Userlayout thingie. (Program Files/BRS/Userlayout.exe)
In there, just up the volume under the "Decoder" tab. I set mine to max (+12dB).
I picked this up as well...can't resist a good racing game, let alone a rally game. PSN is kog667, I know I already have Kyleh on my friends; I justt can't wait until I can actually play multiplayer.
This Gymkhana shit is some serious kind of stupid. Whoever decided to make it necessary to pass these events to advance in career mode needs to feel very bad about themselves. It's like every annoying as hell license test in GT but more stupider. Not only that but it's totally unrelated to the real meat of the game.

It's not totally unrelated. Ken Block is a (bad) rally driver and shoe baron and he really loves gymkhana.
yeah, except that now people have started to find borderline-cheating hiding places. one guy in my last match had his car balanced up on a railing above everyone else, with no way to reach him, and there's a ledge inside the building that I still haven't figured out how to get to (and neither did most of the group I was playing with).
But yeah, when people don't exploit the map, it's tons of fun!

He's not that bad, he's just got rotten luck. At least in the Mexico rally, he did pretty well but with the penalties given to him because of mechanical failures, he ended up with 5+ minutes of penalties, which put him really behind. Several drivers didn't even complete the Mexico rally, and he did get to the finish. He's also a very good crowd pleaser, I really like him and Solberg, who are really passionate about the sport, and not so much about just winning.

Introducing a mode into a game where you perform "extreme" tricks and score points while getting called a "dude" and "amigo" is punishable under the hague convention. Codemasters have basically committed a war crime.
To be honest, the WRC isn't that interesting to watch. The real life courses really aren't that exciting, so I always get confused when players ask for real long stages, about the length of the ones in WRC. That would make for a mostly boring game despite popular opinion. I do think the stages on Dirt 3 are a bit to short though.
All sports seriously need to go online and become accessible to more people. Especially in the states where ESPN and Speed TV are our only options and they generally don't bother with anything but american motorsports. I really want to be able to watch the Le-Mans series but only the american version is available here which means no 24 hours of Le Mans.
I want something like Major League Soccer's system for pretty much every sport I follow. I paid $30 as a pre-order, regular price being $50, and I can watch every match this season (less ones being broadcast locally on TV). It's brilliant. I can have multiple matches playing at once (up to 2 PIP matches), and keep track of ones that I don't watch.

PC supports the DX11 visuals so that's the way I went especially after how well Dirt 2 ran on PC
edit - haha ya well that's why I uploaded the video, was all impressed with myself
I thought they would just be medal events at first but you need to place in a few of em

I'm having a lot of fun in single player rally. Those world record times look very beatable.
Did it seem short compared to Dirt 1&2? I thought those careers were pretty long.

The trailblazer events in season 2 are so good.
“Mud and Guts Car Pack”, “Power and Glory Car Pack”, “Monte Carlo Track Pack” und “X Games Asia Track Pack”.
Hopefully the Power and Glory pack have more Group B and the Stratos.
From the name, the X Games Asia pack sounds like just Rallycross.
Did the X Games events in the game have Rally in them, or just Rallycross, H2H, and Land Rush? I haven't gotten to them yet.
The players on PSN are setting some crazy fast time trial runs. My first run on Finland/Tupasentie was 2:47, the world best is 2:24.

Ugh, I wanna play those party modes so badly.

Love the rally though. :P
Playing Dirt 3 has really made me wanna watch some, not sue where it's show or if it is at all in the UK.
