i have to think its something along the lines that they don't like that immortals can be neutralised so easily by Thors given that they're meant to be the counter to exactly the type of unit that the Thor is.
I don't agree with that, but it may be what they're thinking.
There are ways around that beyond what they did. Like, say, make it affected by Hardened Shield.

I don't agree with that (Immortals are a perfectly fine counter to Thors, you just need more immortals than they have Thors, as well as an upgrade advantage, which is easy enough to ahve given that chrono'd immortals take about 3/4 of the time a Thor takes to build, Protoss can chrono upgrades, and Immortals cost less), but it may be what they're thinking.
I was thinking that, because you can't solve that problem just by extending the cooldown (since the 1/1 thing you mention is the exact problem)
feels like a bad way to do it though but really, at least the thor thing hadn't taken off really hard. I'm glad for that. so any mech revolution that comes from terran will be fashioned a little differently than what we've seen.

The problem with this is that it means Hardened Shield works differently than it normally does for this one case, and Blizzard historically doesn't like such solutions as they are considered "inelegant".

You know what else is inelegant?
Destroying a build that the counters to haven't even been explored yet.
I can't imagine it's anything but them not liking what thorzain came up with
seriously
Considering we've seen it in like, three games, that would be completely fucking ridiculous.
Like.
Unacceptably bullshit.
I agree, but it's the fact that we've only seen it in 3 games that makes me say that
unless there are thor rushes that rely on fast strike cannon that are super effective? I've never seen them.
ST_Rainbow did it in Season 1 of GSL with a proxied Factory. Was pretty neat. And yeah, the Hardened Shield soaking up Strike Cannons would be a change that makes sense without giving Thors yet another weakness. But of course, Blizzard's pro balancing team did... that dumbass thing.
am i the only person that sees thor/other units that are good (pick from raven, banshee, marine, hellion) pushes as really good? like i cant think of a time where it was won by the protoss overcoming it
(ie most of the time i have seen it lose is just dumb mistakes from terran)
of course this is of limited viewing because terran dont do it enough even though it is sickly good as far as i see
edit: what im getting at is mass thor isnt good, but when they are the damage dealers and soak with supporting units they are really good against protoss, especially midgame
either way, i dont agree with blizzard patching, pros will probably figure it out anyways
I can appreciate the nuances and everything, I was just disappointed by Nestea's response I guess . His response was lacking because sC's execution was so good.

This is like super late but Trump's tvp thor build where he pushes with 3 thors, a handful of marines, some scvs to repair, strike cannons and +1 to armor is actually really strong against P. It's the allest of ins though.

they were used against Protoss *all the time* prior to the scv repair priority changes, and still used occasionally after that.

I don't play P so I guess I wouldn't see something like that

what do you mean? that was sick
the placement of the bunker and stop spamming on the scv to basically make a wall
that is like
ultra refinement to map play -- basically he found a super good strat on a map and executed it superbly
he actually walled in marines with 2 bunkers though at the corner of a ramp
iirc
that very well could be, but you cannot blame sc for taking full advantage of map pool
almost always at least one map that is shitty in a map pool

I don't blame him at all. Do what you gotta do to win.
I just hate Metalopolis.
But it's just lame as hell. Not like it takes any skill to press 'H' and cackle while the melee AI implodes.
Just not interesting to watch.

This should be the music that they play for a half hour before the games start.
But Nestea getting Ultralisks.
God this game is so sexy.

SC should try a different opening xD
i think the 2 facts is to get a number of tanks fast, not necessarily to continue tank production constantly
