that's right you silly geese, it's lego time
easily the single greatest toyline in existence, Lego's been around since 1949 and has continuously made rad shit from Denmark that they send all around the world
Based entirely on your imagination, you can build pretty much anything with Lego
From cities, to deserts, to the ocean, to space, there isn't a single design aesthetic you can't utilize
they even have licensed themes, if you're into that sort of thing
at the moment, Lego's Technic line, which consists not of bricks but of other constructible plastic materials, is headlined by
Hero Factory
"We, the good, bold and virtuous, stand united against the malignant forces in the universe. Our sole and unwavering resolution: to root out and eliminate all things lowdown, vile and villainous. We go forth with conviction and courage, and strive wholeheartedly against the dark. Together, we build a safer universe. We build a better tomorrow. We build heroes."
– Hero Factory ‘Foundation Pledge’
The Factory designs, builds and dispatches robot heroes to fight villains, solve crises and restore peace across the universe, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Factory is situated in the amazing Makuhero City, a modern, sprawling metropolis with a rich multitude of neighborhoods, and home to millions of living robots.
Hero Factory is the trademark of Makuhero City and is regarded throughout the universe as a symbol of safety. Standing well over 500 metres, the building is both aesthetically and technically a marvelous piece of architecture.
The Hero Factory has been around, in story, for a hundred years, producing heroes at a rate of thousands a day. They're powered by the mysterious Quaza Stones, which are inside their Hero Cores. After every mission, a hero must recharge their core. For each mission, a hero is refitted with specific armor and weaponry to get the job done.

There's a special division of the Factory known as the
Hero Recon Team
Hero Recon Team members are experts at collecting and studying information from around the galaxy. They are never far behind, searching for clues through battlegrounds and the wreckage left by villains and monsters. They then report their findings to Hero Factory designers, mission managers and Hero team leaders, who use the information to improve all aspects of Hero Factory.
Hero Recon Team members are often recognized by their unique black and silver chest plate but all Heroes from the Recon unit can wear multiple types of armor and are trained to use different types of weapons and parts - even those used by Villains, like the Lava Blaster and transparent cladding.
Our motto: “Knowledge Is Strength"
Basically, these guys are kick-ass secret agents that are picked from the cream of the crop. The best part: you can take one of them home.

Customizable Heroes, with personalized names, statistics, armor, powers, instructions, and packaging. There
was a special black and silver chestplate you could buy, but it's out of stock. You can still put it on a digital guy, at least. To buy a Recon Team Hero, it costs $12.99 + shipping, and it takes a while for them to get to their destination, but they're totally worth it.
So yeah, let's talk about Legos from the past, present and future.

My favorite was a helicopter that could also be built as a boat and a car.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
I've got several spaceships I've made, representing several different factions, that have been in an ongoing war since I was in like eighth grade or some shit. Each one has undergone several rebuilds, and this story is so goddamn ridiculous.
I love it

THE LEGO DIGITAL DESIGNER
and lego has that MMO now I guess
http://www.audioentropy.com/
it's apples and oranges
the building is only on your properties
otherwise, the gameplay is exactly like Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Harry Potter/Batman
and this is the one my brother got because it was late, it came with a bonus fire piece and an apology directly from Merrick Fortis, the Hero Recon Team's leader
It's basically a job made for him, considering how much he used to play with these.
But were one of the few toys that I could play with together with my brother. So I love them despite the pain they have caused me in the past.
So the hero factory, do you get to make your own dudes?
On my desk at work.
you can buy individual canisters of heroes for 7.99, or you can use the recon team thing to make your own hero for 12.99, boxed
villains go from 12.99 to higher prices, depending on the size, but the villains are always bigger than the heroes
it was made for me
I'm gonna have to dig out the big bin I have of them and build something now.
gonna make one of those dudes
Now to spend 3 hours agonizing over color selection.

why David not a name option :<
so, no purple feet, because they don't sell any purple heroes
also hah, crawford, my bro made an american themed hero too
My grandparents had been out of town for the celebration, and the very next day they came over and gave me their gift: the exact same Lego set. My parents told me to act excited so that they wouldn't feel bad, and that they'd take it back and exchange it for a different one.
Fuck THAT. I combined the two sets together. It was the greatest goddamn police station EVER.
STEAM: BioSpark // POKEMON: 0303 9578 6730
maybe getting this one
ugghhh too many options.
I go work on things for a bit, then come back and make one or two dudes, am not satisfied, go back to work
This is not a bad thing. Lego Batman was one of my favourite Xbox games.
So I played with Legos a ton when I was a kid. Then I went off to college, and my mother gave away my enormous box of Legos, and sadness ensued.
Then I had kids, and began buying them Legos.
And then I took the kids to my mother's place for Christmas last year, and one of her friends, knowing that my kids liked Legos, brought over two enormous shopping bags full of them. And said, "Oh, just keep them. My son doesn't want them anymore."
The cycle continues.
Thing is, these two shopping bags were about 50% Bionicle stuff, which I missed -- they hit right as I was heading off into college, so I never got into them. And of course, they're gone now, but replaced with Hero Factory, which my sons have both started clamoring for.
Which brings me to today... when I walked into Toys R Us and bought a pair of Hero Factory guys for me to have at work (because let's face it, if my boss can have Warhammer 40k figs on his desk, I can have Hero Factory guys on mine), and then came home and organized my kids' Legos. Two buckets for normal pieces. One bucket for figures and figure accessories (helmets, swords, blasters, etc). And two buckets for Bionicle/Hero Factory stuff.
I suspect that this is several hundred dollars' worth of Bionicle stuff. I have no instruction books. But let me tell you, I am gonna build me one hell of a robot, and he is gonna fight some bad guy robots like there's no tomorrow.
RETURN OF THE LIVING THREAD
taky, you may or may not prefer Hero Factory's building style to Bionicle's. Starting with the 2.0 sets this year, the sets are much easier to build, they're much more solid and less likely to break, and have less parts that are larger. However, you may like the complexity of Bionicle much more. Personally, I dig Hero Factory, especially the concept.
Two Batman-themed
Two Star Wars
and a car.
And there are so many more in the other room.
....and that big Millenium Falcon on the kitchen table still.
JordynNolz.com <- All my blogs (Shepard, Wasted, J'onn, DCAU) are here now!
...
I don't do the names.
We've got the red hero, the more complex red hero (2.0?), the more complex blue hero, the more complex green hero I think, and the more complex white hero. And Drilldozer.
My son (the older one) has also, from a mostly constructed Bionicle, constructed a villain he calls SAWCHAIN. You can hear the capital letters. SAWCHAIN has, as far as I can tell, every bladed Bionicle piece my son could find attached to him in some way. Sometimes I turn around and SAWCHAIN has grown new arms.
Fuck, I love Legos.
Just got my first HF recently, and I like the build style. I can see a lot that can be built with 'em, even if making robot dudes is the most obvious course.
And the names are stupid, yeah.
I mean, Von Nebula's a nifty villain name, in a cheesy way, but going first name last name is weird on robots.
Why I fear the ocean.
you've got two Furnos, Surge 2.0, Breez 2.0, and Stormer 2.0
the new 3.0 jungle guys that have come out are pretty awesome too, they've got one piece for helmets, and they're unique, instead of the identical shaped but different colored 2.0 helmets that come with pieces that go in between the head and the helmet.
but
when I was a lad
I would walk upon fields of lego bricks and plunge my hands repeatedly into lego bins to toughen myself
I'm still not really sure what effect I think it would have
you can hush right now
Just need to clean some building space.
Why I fear the ocean.
ha, same. of course, the "story" was always just an excuse to get every faction into an all out brawl across land/air/sea/space that ends with every ship destroyed and scattered in pieces throughout the room, and only one or two guys left alive.
