Rip Vista ISO

So. I've got a Windows Vista Business DVD here from my school's MSDNAA program, and my very own key. Thing is, I have to give the disc back within a week. I don't know that I am actually going to install Vista within a week, and besides I would like my own copy of the disc to keep just in case I need to reformat or whatever.
I tried making a straight copy of the disc using Nero, but it crapped out on a read error.
There shouldn't be anything special about the disc. I've never seen an MS CD or DVD that used copy protection other than the license key/activation. It would annoy the crap out of us at work, because we literally only get one copy of each Select product and have to make our own copies to use while the original stays in a safe.
Are you sure it isn't scratched or otherwise physically damaged?
The long method of copying Windows install CDs (especially if you want to slipstream in patches or SPs or whatever) is to just copy all the files to a folder somewhere, modify the folder contents as needed, then use a tool like ISOBuster to extract the boot data from the disc, then build a new bootable CD in e.g. Nero using that boot data and the files in the folder.
alcohol 120% has handled every ISO I have ever tried to make or burn.. and the virtual drives are solid.
You can use it in trial mode for 30(?) days, where it works perfectly.

I'll scan the disc with Nero to see if there is a problem with the disc itself. It doesn't look scratched or anything, but who knows... could be a bad dye spread or something.
I will give Alcohol 120% a shot at making an ISO of it next. If that doesn't work I'll try that Nero boot CD thing.

Try making the image on a different PC/different drive.
