The DC Universe (Established 2011) + Sept. Solicits
I really like the way Saiz stages the action, and Swierczynski seems to be hitting that neo-noir/grindhouse tone that was present in The Immortal Iron Fist, as well as his novels.
Did you guys read up on IGN's article about the mysterious red woman from Flashpoint appearing in all of the comics to date so far? I hadn't seen that, but now I'll definitely be on the lookout for it. Also...I had a chance to check out the preview of Suicide Squad and it actually looks kinda cool. I certainly prefer that title more than Justice League Dark. I just don't get DC's complete inability to come up with innovate titles that don't involved "man" on the end or which are just literal offshoots of other titles (ie...all of the Green Laterns titles).

This looks really cool. I was sort of on the fence with this one but I'll have to check it out
Yeah, I bought the last copy of Swamp Thing at my store on Friday. Makes me hope Frankestein and Demon Knights are still there. I got to go on a bit of a hunt last week, but I'm not keen on that.
I've read Demon Knights, Grifter, Green Lantern, Red Lanterns, Resurrection Man and Frankenstein so far.
Demon Knights, Frankenstein and Resurrection Man are fucking amazing. Just good lord are they awesome books.
Grifter was good and very slick but felt a little confusing, it'll probably be better with more issues.
Green Lantern was pretty rad. Sinestro is a badass and the DCnU tradition of shitting all over Hal Jordan keeps going strong.
Red Lanterns was probably the weakest, although still not bad. I'll give it another issue if only to see Atrocitus become the cosmic equivalent of the Punisher.
I went all out and bought ten comics today because it is my birthday and I am a consumer whore
Batwoman was awesome but the way they introduced all her backstory up to this point felt kind of rushed. The art was everything you'd expect it to be, and there were surprise appearances from
Cameron Chase and Director Bones!
Red Lanterns seems to be a lot more introspective and personal than I expected, which is surprising given the main character. I like where this is going.
Batman and Robin was fun, two angry man-children (technically one child-man) getting mad at each other was entertaining. You can really tell how much Damian doesn't like being with Bruce without Dick around. The art was so good. This satisfied my Damian Wayne fixation.
Green Lantern was cool. Sinestro is bad-ass and Hal is all washed up. I like it.
Grifter did seem to go a bit too fast... This was like a superhero backstory on crack. It wasn't bad, but I wanted to know more about Cole before he got his "powers". Or during, even.
Mister Terrific, not sure if it was good or bad but I think I might be biased because it took place in L.A. and Santa Barbara. It certainly wasn't afraid to deal with race issues, but they kinda downplayed and didn't really interrupt anything.
Frankenstein was balls to the walls action and sci-fi. Lemire is killing on this relaunch.
Resurrection Man started off kinda slow and picked up momentum as it went along.
And lastly Cornell really wasn't kidding when he said his comic was basically Dragon Age. This felt like an rpg. The party all gets together in a bar, and they're off on an adventure! I really liked the relationship between Etrigan and Xanadu. Everything felt a little to fast again, though.

For the last six months I've had the impression that Gail might be on her way out of DC, I kind of expected her to sign with Marvel before now really but that hasn't been the case. Makes me wonder if she can go back to Marvel, know she had some issues there years ago.

Her constant tweeting about marvel character she wants to write probably isn't for nothing

Yeah that's one reason why I thought she might be on her way out.
That and where she put her new forum HQ basically.
B&R was gorgeous and had fantastic characterization. Bruce and Damian's dynamic is wildly different from Dick and Damian's and it is going to be really interesting to watch. NoBody is creepy but we don't really know anything about him.
Deathstroke was pretty rad but had me worried for like half of the issue for reasons behind the spoiler:
The young up-and-coming merc team that works with Slade on the mission was super annoying and "edgy" and I was horrified that they were Slade's supporting cast but at the end of the issue he guns all of them down saying "There is no "up-and-coming", there is only competition. And I don't work with it."
The art is clean and expressive and the book is very dark, but has moments of black humor that should make it work. I'm on board.
Superboy was really dialogue/exposition-heavy, which was fine since it flowed well. The "new" Conner is really interesting and his supporting cast is pretty great. The ending was nice and I love Silva's art.
Basically out of all of the relaunch books I have bought the only one I didn't enjoy is Static Shock. Well done, DC.
I would love to see Gail Simone writing a Marvel book, pretty much anything she wants to really, I'd read it.

Is Superboy ground up reboot? It seems like they kept the clone of Superman/Luthor aspect intact but everything else is new. No more cool Kesel Superboy, or Lemire Superboy.
Conner either had a brain injury or has been brainwashed and basically doesn't remember anything before this. He was still Kesel/Lemire's Superboy, he just doesn't remember.
I pray that it's not Luthor who makes up Conners DNA, Johns all but rammed that into the hole when he handled it. Even when Conner came back from the dead he instantly began the whole angsty thing with the Luthor DNA again. It got old quick.
Sadly since it was Johns idea I doubt it'll be scrapped.
Since he is now essentially a blank slate Connor is now basically 1/2 paragon of morality and 1/2 utter sociopathic genius with no inbetween and no real way to process which side is the correct one.
This is especially weird; I had a chance to talk to Jurgens and he said because he was writing Batman on a team book he was trying to stay abreast of how everyone was writing him, for consistency's sake. He made it sound like a pretty common practice with DCnU writers, too.
I think Gail is just getting the shaft.

Yes, I do believe I will be purchasing that.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
This looks really cool. I was sort of on the fence with this one but I'll have to check it out
but
I already have Demon Knights
I've been delighted so far to hear in most places Animal Man and Swamp Thing and other such titles are doing so good.
Also we sold out of everything last week on the New 52 books.
It looks soooo gooood

Superboy was interesting. Can't wait to see where it goes next, and it has a nice setup for Titans as well. I am also curious to see where they take
Demon Knights was AWESOME.
Grifter... Im not really sure yet. It was SO FAST, I really need another issue to decide.

The New DC: writer communication is for pussies!
Yeah pretty much
The Wall does not look like that

but it is actually being used in a clever way
He process information kind of like Daredevil except instead of "seeing" everything in a room, he feels it.
