I worded my question pretty badly. I was curious if they were doing the PC development in-house, since I know SR2 was ported by some other company and has, ah, less-than-stellar performance. An article on RPS states that RF:Armageddon was indeed done for PC by Volition themselves, and I was hoping it might be a good barometer for how well SR3 performs. But then I learned that the Saints Row and Red Faction series use different engines anyway, so... probably not too useful.
You would need a voice pack that is completely silent though.
I recall this was discussed in the previous thread and I think it'd be a fucking awesome inclusion
I imagining this now. If you keep a full-face helmet on, you won't even need to adjust for lip flaps. All your conversations will be with your character standing there, maybe gesturing, while other people react.
Incidentally, the E3 posters for SR3 all list the main character's name as Player, and I have to admit that it took me a while to recognize that they were just using "Guy Protag" and not really naming the character "Player." If they had, I wouldn't have been surprised, and it would sound completely natural. What up, player?

Everybody already called him 'Player' in Saints Row 1. Julius still does it in 2.
So it's sort of an officially unofficial nickname. Next to Boss.
Have the PC be completely still during conversations too and it really is the Stig.
Or just create a very boorish and submissive looking character who just stands there, largely motionless, and doesn't say a thing outside of a few mumbles
Playing Saint's Row 2 again in preparation for this, I had really forgotten how brutal the story is, The Brotherhood missions in particular. It's even more jarring when you contrast it with the silly diversions and such.
After watching the madness that is Pant and Stocking episodes 6 and 7, I must question what would happen if Volition teamed up with Hiroyuki Imaishi and his Gainax team.....with about 40 liters of scotch, vodka, sake?

If it resulted in a weapon that was a guitar that was a shotgun, and had a melee attack where you use it like a baseball bat, then it would be the greatest game ever.

The world would not be able to contain the amount of awesome.

The background music would then get louder and be interrupted by guitar wails every time you did a nutshot or changed your position on the Z axis rapidly.
jdarksun, what is that helmet you used for your Stig? I've looked, but I cannot find one that had the tinted visor that you can change the color of without having anything ELSE on the helmet change.
I've started up Saints Row 2 again (360 version), bugs and all. It's refreshing that some of the bonuses from diversions carry over into other save files.
Unfortunately, I don't have any co-op missions done. There's pretty much no chance of getting those achievements now, is there?

It's the motorcycle helmet from one of the stores in the mall. I think it's Nobody Loves Me, but it might have been Let's Pretend. On the clothing select screen, it doesn't look tinted or opaque - but once you get outside, it's almost perfect.
Note, however, that it disappears if you get inside a car with a roof. It pops back on when you get out though.

Hmm... funny that. I seem to be missing ALL of the co-op achievements myself. Yeah, I should fix that.
Can't wait for SR3 to be out, I hope the character creator has even more options for making hideous beasts that even their mother couldn't love. I'm just wondering how I'm going to top this.
If that doesn't convince people that they need Saints Row in their lives, then they don't exist because how could you not want it now?

Someone in the SA thread brought up a good point: voice DLC. Maybe have a 'suave/serious motherfucker' pack with Jason Statham or Angela Bassett and a 'obnoxious sociopath' pack with Gilbert Gottfried or Fran Drescher.
Or an H Jon Benjamin voice. I would murder for a Boss played by H Jon Benjamin.

So monday at the earliest.
I want to say that there was official talk about Mr Toots being potential DLC for SR3, but that may just be wishful thinking or a fever dream.

yesssssss
I really hope they have sing-alongs in SR3. In fact, I hope they go beyond sing-alongs. I hope that when you do co-op, both PCs do a duet.
