    I picked up

    52 #41
    Justice Society of America #3
    Manhunter #28

I'll pick up Trials of Shazam and Y when I get some more money

Manhunter is good. It seems like it really is Ted again

    we picked up:

    Manhunter
    Green Lantern Corps
    JLA: Classified
    Batman
    Y: The Last Man
    Astonishing X-Men

JLA: Classified is something where we seem to just start an arc, bite the bullet the whole way through and hope that the next one is better. For us to stop getting it, I imagine it's going to take the writer just being someone we don't like. However, I was pleasantly surprised this week, when I actually enjoyed the new issue.

I really liked Legacy and BSG: Zarek this week.

And I found something interesting while looking up how crazy John Bryne is.

    Taken from Post Crisis

    "Absolute Worst
Poster Algertman asks Newsarama posters What DC Abosulute Hardcovers they want.

    His list includes:

    -Flash: Geoff Johns run
    -BatMan: Loeb/Sale collaborations
    -Swamp Thing: Alan Moore
-Watchmen: i will die before this gets released
-ID Crisis-just so i can have Sue raped and beat SUPERSIZED!"

    Huh. Sounds familiar somehow.

So, like I got Manhunter, and pretty much just spent the whole issue touching myself. Y'know, givin' myself a little of the old poke n' tickle.

Seriously though, Andreyko writes a good Ted, and I love those beetlechutes. I'm curious to see what the swerve's going to be though, as at this point it could be clones, illusions/telepathic trickery (though those shouldn't work on Diana), Clayface, or any other number of things. Cool issue though. I'll be sad when this title gets cancelled.

GL Corps and 52 were also really nice this week. Camuncoli's art on Captain Atom: Armageddon was just great, and he was no less impressive on 52. The final issue of Nextwave was just one hilarious moment after another, and JSA continued to be a dense, interesting read that's completely overshadowing its sister book, JLoA.

Manhunter is already canceled, Munch; issue 30 will be the last, which really is a damn shame.

Ultimate X-Men was a pleasant surprise after being unbearably bad for far too long. I think Kirkman may finally be hitting his stride. The seemingly endless fight scene ended, the characters had some semblance of personality, and when they opened their mouths to talk, decent dialog came out. It looks like he may even start juggling multiple plot threads ala Invincible. Oh, and creepy pedo Prof. X is "dead" for the time being, yay!

I wouldn't be surprised if it's really Ted and they decided to bring him back

I mean, it's backpeddling, but this issue showed why I love Ted.

On Trials of Shazam in general:

As a story, it's not bad. I don't think so. But as the future of the Captain Marvel character? I can't help but feel like this is exactly the kind of thing that will be entirely retconned and forgotten in a few years, which bothers me while I read it. I just don't feel like any of it will stick.

I mean, it changes everything TOO much. I agree with Judd Winnick that magic in the DCU could be more interesting, and that Captain Marvel's role & place in the DCU has not been properly defined. But then he's removing a lot of the original appeal of the character, which he displayed in Superman/Shazam: First Thunder, by doing things like making Freddy Freeman a goateed, college drop out, super hero.

Jeff Smith's Captain Marvel story, I'm sure, is excellent, but I don't think that version of him fits well in the DCU either.

Jeff Smith's story is great, but I don't like how his Billy and Captain Marvel are two separate people

I've been singing All New Atom's praises since issue one. Like Keith said, the book is fucking weird, but in a good way.

One problem though. I didn't care for Byrne's art on the first few issues, but then Eddy Barrows came along, and I hated his work even more. It just didn't fit the tone and theme of the book. Then, issues 7 and 8, Mike Norton comes along with those nice clean lines and I think...a saving grace? Nah, two issue filler...thats it.

    Shame. Awesome book though!
