Simply put, I was wondering if I might be able to keep my old video card in my system for some extra support until I buy another GTX 460. I'm new to the SLI game so learn me some knowledge!

You can use different nVidia cards to help out with PhysX processing, but even then you need at least an 8X00 series card.

And a 6800GS is so old, that it has only a few percent of the computing power that the GTX460 has.

A 6800 is, at best, something to set fire to whilst you save for your second 460.
