Well, I did like Jason apparently not being the town doofus now. Was funny watching him ride Andy instead of the other way around. So Jason gets to live. Everyone else is going emo/is evil/both/even worse and has the name Tara.

How does Eric get "I own you!" out of owning the house? That doesn't change anything that wasn't already the case before other than she has no where to hide from him now... and the whole PSA thing just showed he's still full of shit, so if they really try and put them together....everyone on the show just needs to die besides Hoyt and Jessica and maybe Bill and Sookie. Starting with Tara still. Her new buddy can take her place on the show.

    Yikes.

    For real.

I got annoyed sometimes too but . . .damn not that annoyed. That's exactly the point, he made a statement that there's no where that she can hide to get away from him. He's just laying it down that she should suck it up and just submit.

Tara's friend is kinda cute though, wouldn't mind that swap happening.

She can just get another place, no more owning. I understood he was gloating over this master plan, but it seemed like he thought it was like fool proof I-own-your-soul type stuff. Maybe I just want him dead too much and was reading into it :P

Same here. I'm digging the coven thing. That looks like it could be really cool. Though the first 8 minutes of the first episode were...weird, to say the least.

I think everyone's getting meaningful character development, rather than "oh noes, a new monster come to town!"

Seriously, though, the Jason scenes are freaking me out.

Another WTF moment: (regarding Jason and the meth heads)
Jason has been bringing food to the clan of meth heads for over a year, but still hasn't figured out they are were-panthers? Even after his girlfriend revealed herself to him? He looks surprised at that kid when she mentions eating raw meat never hurt them before.
I figure he just didn't get that they did that shit in human form too. It was a little unbelievable that it hadn't occurred the entire year but the fact that he was surprised wasn't that odd.

Yeah, I think they made that pretty obvious.

I liked this episode, although the opening was so far out in left field compared to the rest of the episode that it was kind of hard to take seriously.

I also found it weird that
Bill felt the need to make up a story to cover Sookie within literally 2 minutes of finding out she was still alive. Way to back yourself (not to mention Sookie, whose circumstances you don't know at all) into a corner dude.

    More like nearly a day.
Sookie arrived back sometime early in the day, and Bill had to wait until sunset before he could go to see her.

Enough with the "character building" with Tommy and Sam. Just stick to the god damn supernatural shit. Their "moment" in this episode throws everything way the hell off big time.

    That said. . .
What. The. Fuck. I do not know if this season is going to be immense or just stupid; from this episode I can see it going either way - though we do get a fair bit of Bill backstory.

Clutching at straws I know, but it just seemed like a pointless inclusion of the character if that's all there was to it.

    I just watched both episodes on-demand ... and ... I ...

    Uh ...
Really, fucking amnesia? I understand it's not "technically" the usual amnesia storyline because it's some sort of spell (I guess), but seriously? That just seems so ... I don't know, it just really leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I like the backstory on Bill, because it's less "Bill chasing after Sookie and X happens that makes Sookie suspect of Bill." Hopefully there will be more of that then, which is what they hinted at, at least.

I loved the beginning of Sam's arc and where things were going till the emotion-fest with Tommy in the field. Just out of the blue they decide that they want to be brothers again? Even after they just realized that both were "lying" to each other? That makes no sense whatsoever if Sam is supposed to feel violated and used by him.

Lafayette being a force in the vodoo/witchcraft field looks like a really interesting angle. I was completely baffled why Prez Bill was concerned with the witches till he actually mentioned Necromancy ... that was a shocker.

Someone in the GoT thread spoiled the fairy stuff, but it was still surprising ... they have fire/spirit balls lol?

It was nice to see Tara at peace for .5 seconds, I don't doubt that she stays in Bon Temps now and her life goes to hell again ... it would be nice to see her in New Orleans for longer though.

tl;dr - Meh, I'm intrigued, but there's a lot that leaves me smh.

Episode 2 theories/speculation, along with some book spoilers:
I think Tommy overheard Luna talking about being a skin-walker - that's going to come back. I'm thinking Tommy may try to kill Sam or maybe their mother/father to try to achieve this.

So in the books, Sookie eventually gets a roommate named Amelia, who dates Pam for a bit. I'm guessing that Tara may take up this storyline - she moves in with Sookie, and maybe starts up with Pam. That would be an interesting pairing, and anything that gets more Pam on the show is ok in my book.

I really hope skinwalkers turn out to be actually evil and horrific. In most other areas I've seen/heard of skinwalkers, they are genuinely terrifying creatures of malice and hate. I was sort of annoyed when she explained that she was one. Hopefully she'll turn out horrifically terrifying. I like the idea of Tommy trying to become one, that could be interesting.

Okay, I'm really confused about one thing...
last season ended with Bill lunging at broken neck sex addict ex maker and then it just faded to black.

Now he's the sheriff or king or whatever instead of Eric?

    1) How did Bill win that fight? Was it explained?

    2) Why is Eric taking orders from Bill when he had ZERO problems holding down what's her name last season and threatening to kill her because he was like 500 years older than her?

Aside from that minor gripe I loved the premiere. I agree the opening was a little dumb but the last three seasons took place over the span of like three or four months even though it's been three years so it was good to fast forward things a little bit.

    You're a little off.
    1) Bill was fighting Sophie-Anne, the Queen of Louisiana, not Lorena, his maker, at the end of the last season.

And yes, 4.2 does address the issue.

    2) Erik was operating on a millenia-long grudge against the King of Mississippi last season when he threatened Sophie-Anne (if I'm remembering correctly). He was willing to do a lot worse to achieve his revenge. Now that that's taken care of, he is willing to submit... somewhat... to the traditional vampiric power structure.

He did not expect them to have that much power. Plus, once magic starts rolling, it's totally possible he was held in place by the spell or something. And presumably, he
may have recognized whoever was speaking through the witch lady. Who is..evil? Yes? Probably? We taking bets on what happened to him? I'm wondering if they restored his pre-vampire mind, rather than just amnesia.

My issue lies with the way it was set up. In Eric and Bill's conversation he gives the strong impression that he takes necromancy very seriously, Bill told him that they had the power to reanimate a bird and it stopped him in his tracks. He then goes to the coven and allows them to direct that power at him with no regard. It seems a little clumsy is all.

I agree that it is flimsy, but it does open up a load of choices to go with in the story. In fact, that's pretty much what they've done in the past two episodes, opened up all the books to a certain page and then just left them there to let us scramble about what's going to happen. I think it works well cause I'm really interested in where the season is going.

I'm pretty sure it was too late by that point. Necromancy is probably really disconcerting to a vampire.
