Nokia N81 - Buttons won't work

Hi folks,
i've had my Nokia N81 phone for a few years now - its been fine until the last two days.Yesterday morning all my buttons just decided to stop working. the lock switch and the power button work, but the rest arent doing anything. Anyone know if there is anything i can do myself? I want to avoid getting a new phone as this one is really good and easy to use.could it be a problem with the slider? is itnormal for phones to kinda shit themselves like this after a few years?
