I just put the tag slightly later in the sentence than I meant to. All it really says is that:
He stays alive past the first book

Even with the edited post there are still spoilers.
Someone not dying in this book series is a SPOILER. Saying in the later bookS implies that he lives for a long while. I've only watched the first season of the TV show. After Ned I know that any character is fair game. At the end of season 1 Jamie is a prisoner of the Starks. It's a pretty huge spoiler really to know that he is going to live for multiple more seasons/books.

Yeah, people keep saying "but all the evidence is circumstantial!"

If I walk into a room, and find someone holding a smoking gun over a dead body, while shouting "I finally did it! I finally killed you, you motherfucker," that, too, is circumstantial evidence.

It is also more than enough to convict on.

    Convictions are circumstantial.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but the edit is fine. It's just your interpretation bias now because you know what happens. That sentence could end many different ways. Maybe in the later books, after he is dead, we find out details about his life. Like so:

Ned Stark is honorable from book one, that's for sure. But in the later books
you find out why he hid Jon Snow's mother's identity and what it cost him.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, Marcia.

One line pisses me off, though:
The defense had to come up with a plausible reason for that behavior.
No, Marcia. The defense doesn't have to prove anything. The prosecution has to. No wonder Cochrane kicked your ass.

umm the defense does have to explain the proof presented by prosecution, if that proof points to guilt

cause they argue for not guilty, and all that

they do have to tell the jury why

True, but the prosecutor has to prove the point first. From everything I've read about this stupid trial, the prosecutor tried to run with an appeal to emotion.
If you think that I'll go ahead and stop discussing this with you now

Interestingly enough I sat in on voir dire once in a criminal case, and the judge told the jury that the defense could sit back and not offer a single thing to contradict the prosecution, and if the prosecution didn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt, then they had to find not guilty.

hmm I remember the articles as the trial was going poking some more holes, but that article sums it up pretty good

    still, circumstantial, completely

and same situation where a big focus was on how the person reacted after the missing/death date
