I jjust watched a quick look of solar 2. I should've viewed that earlier
Also, i keep wavering on Total war pack, is it a hard series to get into? Bear in mind I'm not an rts kinda guy,
The RTS part IS better than the turn-based part, mostly because the AI is REALLY bad at it. What do you dislike about RTS games? If it's the micro or resource gathering, than you'll love Total War. Actually, if you like DoW2's single player, you'll like TW.
Yeah I want hugely excited about Dow2. Ah well, I guess I'm just getting warm fuzzy memories of playing a strategy game will over 10 years ago where you selected which troops attacked which enemy. And then zoomed in to view the carnage.
I you aren't playing on the higher difficulties, that's certainly a possibility. You generally control large parts of your army at once, and can let the battle go for a min without touching anything, while the men fight. On the harder settings, tactics becomes more important, but on the lower ones, you can get away with bum rushing things and watching.

Free game vs. different colored ship? That seems pretty cut and dry to me.
Oh god I'm actually thinking about getting the new Red Faction game.
The demo was surprisingly fun; I definitely did not expect to enjoy it much, let alone actually want to play more of it.
I can't see it from here, but I'm pretty sure my bank account is frowning at me very hard. I can feel it's hateful gaze burning into me across space and time.

Okay, so I'm seeing a lot of Last Remnant half-recommendations based on economic factors, but practically none going one way or another on it as a game. Can someone get out of Steam metagaming mode for a second and maybe lay out some of its good and bad points?
The gameplay strays from typical 4 person parties, you end up having 16 or so people in your party and fight more large scale battles. You don't tell everyone individually to attack, but you give them commands and they act accordingly. You've got mages, fights, hybrids.. all sorts of interesting characters to recruit. Some are more story focused than others, but every character has at least a mini story of their own. It reminds me of Suikoden if you've ever played those. Anyway, the battles are fun, especially boss battles.
The environments/side-quests: there's lots of them and they are quite varied. easy to lose track of time and the main quest.
The story, overall, is decent enough to keep you interested. The voice acting is not top notch and the main character is kind of a doofus.
But the main character being a doofus is made up for by other, better characters. It's not a typical "save the world" type thing but it sort of leans that way. The world itself is interesting and not standard fantasy fare, kind of steampunkish lite.
(that is basically copy paste of what I have said to several people today. the console version was horribly flawed mechanically, in the PC version they fixed shit up and added some new things. it is definitely worth it, coming from someone who hasn't really enjoyed JRPGs in years. years.)

Is there anyone here who has played Last Remnant that can chime in on it? Im almost sold over here based on what I read about it , but I need some PA opinion over here.
Do the mass effects regularly go on sale for that cheap? I will hold off then because I mostly just want to jump on to see what all the fuss is about.

Is it really just a different colour ship? I thought I read somewhere that there was more to it than that.

That was a whole game?! I need to read these closer, I have 7 tickets to spend only got the dow item because that was the only game I had. Didn't realize there were actual games in there, I thought it was all extras.

One moron got mad at the game because it defaulted to controller settings and displayed the WRONG ICONS and he didn't bother to change it in the options, so he didn't buy it. You could use that as your excuse!
Help me Steam thread! Why is Steam telling me "An unexpected error has occured. Your purchase has not been completed."? I am using the same card I used all sale long (only used one other time today) ... even a different card is not working.
Are you buying for yourself or gifting?
If you're gifting, your account has been flagged as a security measure to protect against ID theft/fraud. You have to contact Steam support to get it straightened out. You should still be able to buy games for your own account though.
Ah poopie. I sent a support message ... is that the best way to get things sorted out?
I now own three copies of Mass Effect 2. I think I have a problem. (I'll get a fourth eventually to save wear and tear on my 360 CE. And a fifth if I ever get a PS3. Probably.)

Okay, can someone explain what the "additional discount" for the Square Enix Summer Collector's Pack is that you're supposed to get for buying Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Does it take the price below the $74.99 point I'm seeing on Steam already, or is that price including the Deus Ex discount?

Well, I played it on the Xbox, so based upon that last little blurb there, this may not apply. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I picked this up shortly after Lost Odyssey and was hoping for a good JRPG. I didn't care for the gazillion party members because I felt a LOT of them didn't add to the story. But what finally turned me off was the Quick Time Event nature of part of the combat. I wanted an RPG, not a QTE interspersed with an RPG battle. Those eventually made me put it down somewhere in some sort of desert area.

How do I work this uploading video from youtube thing?
Go to your community page, Go to your profile, go to your videos on the right hand side, then connect it to your youtube accont. If you don't have one go to youtube and make one. If you don't have a video uploaded to youtube make the smallest one possible and upload that, then go back to your Steam video settings and pick it. Done.
Man I'm so tempted to buy the id software pack for 30 bucks. It gets u all quake/doom commander keen games. I watched some Id software documentary today and played Doom 1 flash version for free and that is cool. I just don't know if I should, I get bored quickly and might regret purchasing it, dunno lol. I'll definitely get rage/doom 4 whenever those come out.

Commander Keen is amazing, you should buy it regardless. I almost made a contest about him, but up against the Shuttle launch and Universe Sandbox, well, I didn't have a choice.

Who loves space and all things science? Skoal Cat loves space and all things science! That means I'm going to run a... CONTEST. IN. SPAAAAAAAAAACE...
If you want a chance at winning a copy of Universe Sandbox, you need to PM me the most amazing scientific fact/concept/theory that will blow my mind. I am looking for something I didn't know before and preferably, something about SPACE. If you tell me something fuck awesome about chemistry, cool, you might win. I'm in a total space mood right now, especially with the final shuttle launch, so I wanted to make it a level playing field and tell you up front.
Dead line is going to be 4AM EST July 9th. I'll read them tomorrow morning before work, PM the winner, and gift the gift that morning before the sale is up.
PM sent. 8-)
I, too, love space and physics and such dearly. Hopefully the stuff I came up with is ok, I was kind of drawing a blank on things to use for a minute there.
Phearce, do you have some actual knowledge or are you screwing with people?
Check the links, they're straight from the steam servers.
People just continue counting on the picture locations and guess the pictures. (901718,901719, 901720 etc)
They've been doing it all sale although usually they're not available till the last few hours or so I think.
I just bought a 4-pack of Greed Corp. I love me some turn based games and I've been wanting to try this one out. Now I'm giving 3 of my best buds on PA here a shot at it.
You need to PM me a greedy reason I should gift you GREED CORP! Keep it in the spirit of the game, too much greed and you destroy the ground you walk upon.
You must also add me to your friends list so I can gift it to you if you win (see mah sig).
I'll keep this open until 8pm CST 7-9-2011 and Gift the 3 winners then! Good luck!
I was going to do this during the second chance sale, but the Yankees game is postponed so fuck it.
Sanctum Contest (second chance)
I'm having a hard time with thinking up a quick contest idea, so to enter PM me an idea for a Steam game giveaway contest. Whichever one I like best wins a copy of Sanctum. Deadline is 10pm ET. Usual rules about forum membership/activity and ease of access to Steam profile apply.
Just a friendly reminder that there's only about a half hour left for this.

Man, I'd be down for a Bulletstorm deal.
Anyway, as I mentioned before, my copy of Amnesia was a non-Steam version. Is there any advantage at all to own it on Steam? Don't suppose it has achievements or anything.
Also, I want to get back into it, but I can't for the life of me remember what I was doing last. Does the game have a recap or something in the notes?
