Too bad i didn't win one but oh well, but I am curious why is it new members aren't normally considered for these contests? I'd never heard of this website 'til today so obviously I'm new, and I've got to admit it that idea rankles just a bit.
It's because we've had people literally just sign up to enter contests and ask for free stuff, and then vanish forever afterward.

also, these aren't official or anything like that. these are private people spending their own personal money to give back to the community.

JDwhatshismug comes to mind.. yes indeed.
JDcapo was his name, I remember him because a lot of kind people gave this guy games. Haven't seen his name once since the Thanksgiving sale.

and they are awesome for it.
Oh, now that is really cool. I guess I sort of figured it was, well not an outright official contest, but sort of a psuedo-official contest, you know some established rules but without the amp up beforehand.

If anyone want's a resized image of the "Clownthulu" painting, I would be more than happy to make one.
Sorry about the picture quality, just took it with my DSLR in a dark, poorly lit room, had to use a flash which kind of over saturated the painting.
hombrelobo's entry has convinced me that he is the opposite of a god
some sort of hatedemon who lives to destroy the souls of men, maybe
This is close.
The original idea for the panting came from a conversation a friend and I were having about clowns.
We got on the subject, wondering about the origins of clowns. What made the mystery deepen was not even the almighty Wikipedia, had that information.
She then suggested that perhaps Clowns are timeless and eternal, and have always been here, lurking in the darkness, waiting for man.
I remarked that it reminded me of Cthulhu.
Thus, the idea came to creation.

Also I want to point out that for pretty much every other purpose, nobody on the forum is going to treat you like a leper for being new or anything, so don't let that scare you away.
Didn't have time to mention this yesterday, but RainbowDespair was a classy enough person to provide me with Steam codes for both Breath of Death VII and Cthulu Saves the World, which I will provide reviews for both in the weeks to come.
I'll hold off on any big opinions until review time, but there is one feature I thought was really neat; each area of the game has a random encounter limit; if you hit 25 battles, all random encounters stop in that area, though you can turn them back on if you choose.
I think that's a really neat idea, something I'd like to see implemented in more RPGs.
That didn't actually worry me too much, you know so long as there's a few friendly folk around then it's not really a problem. Still it's good to know it won't be a problem that I'm new XD.

Thank you.. I might post more but not before finding some grammar correction plugin for english.

I don't even remember how things were when I was new in this forum. It was such a smooth transition that I doubt it was radically different to how things are now.
Anyway, I've mentioned several times before that I wanted to post my total Summer acquisitions, but I still haven't found out how to display all my gifted games; in the "Manage gifts and guest passes" screen, it only lists the last three I gifted or received.

I wouldn't worry about it, you speak well enough. If anyone gives you shit for your spelling/grammar just use the report button.

Go back through your e-mail history? You should have received e-mails every time you received a gift through Steam.

Manage gifts and guest passes is for sending out gifts, not to see what you have received. The account page in the store (click your account name in the top right of the client) shows everything you have on your account and how you got it. It won't show who gifted you stuff, though, so you have to dig out the emails you've got about those.

That's one option I was considering, but I was hoping Steam had it all listed for convenience.

It's not going to differentiate which ones were gifted, but go to Steam > Settings and click View Account History in the top right

Or just click the account button in the upper right corner.
It also does tell you if a game is a gift/guess pass or a purchase. So you at least know. Though you have to use the emails to find out who sent it if you don't remember. so yeah, may as well just use the emails.
If you go into the browser for steam, at the top it'll say "(Your username's) account. Click that and it'll show you a list of all the games you own, and how you got them. It doesn't say WHEN though, so you'll have to figure that out, and it doesn't say WHO, so you would again have to check your e-mails.
lol i love that Cthulhu breaks the 4th wall and interacts with the narrator.
See now, I can't wait to buy this game when I get home! On Another note. Thank you Steam! Everytime I play Batman: AA I yell at the screen I am the Night! when I invertedly take someone down from a gargoyle.

Yeah. Pretty much you don't just get to show up and get a free game without contributing to the community at all, is the thing. Like Maddoc said, for all we know you're here to get a free game and disappear.

Yeah, they really should have a feature that permanently lists who gifted you what. Generosity should always be remembered.
I really can't imagine why this hasn't already been implemented. If Team Fortress 2 can remember who you received an item from in trading for all time, there's no reason why there shouldn't be some unobtrusive part of each game's listing in your library that says how you got it and if gifted from whom, without having to comb through the licenses in your account and old e-mails to figure it out.
I remember once back during the Christmas sale I was sick and I woke up from a black sleep in the dead of night and sat down at my computer for a moment and discovered I had a gift, blearily said to myself, "Oh, that's cool," and fell back into bed. The next day I was embarrassed to realize I could not for the life of me remember who the pop-up said the gift was actually from.

I would love this feature so I don't have a bunch of post-it notes all over the place.

I sorted through my e-mails, but there are a couple of gifted games not listed. Had to clear out my PMs too, so they won't be listed there.
Would the people who gifted me the following kindly tell me, so I may record your classiness for prosperity?
Edit: All Found!
I wish I could remember them all off the top of my head, but it was a very hectic and fast-paced week.

Damnation. :?
Also, I remember now; the gifter couldn't get his account working at the time, so he paypal'd me the money for Deus Ex which I then purchased.
