I watch this sometimes. It's pretty great. I almost kinda want to take up dance, but between being super busy and being very shy/uncoordinated it's just kinda daunting to consider

Ever since, I have never missed an episode and sometimes I get giddy while watching it.

The starving children one was so bad. The world class ballroom dancer should have definitely stayed way longer. You can't find talent like that anywhere else!

The one thing I like about ABDC more than SYTYCD is that the choreographers aren't a factor that helps determine who gets through. If one contestant gets a kick ass routine while another who may be a better dancer gets a flop the results will go to the better choreographer. In ABDC the crews do their own choreography so that isn't a factor.

Still love SYTYCD, but it's my one complaint.

I don't know. I mean, all the choreographers/styles are on a pretty high level (excluding that crazy Russian dance, which is apparently so bad I can't even find a video of it on YouTube), and most of the votes really do seem to follow what the judge's say.

Now picking certain dances might give people a disadvantage (Quickstep, anyone?), but I think most of the viewing audience really just votes based on favorites anyway.

I do like that ABDC is all choreographed within each crew. Really helps separate the creative crews from the ones that like to recycle tricks.

Also it was that much more reason to hate that awful kid crew, since they had a choreographer who wasn't a dancing member.

they've been good about calling out choreographers that have done a shite job lately, whereas i remember in the past, they've basically just given each choreographer a verbal blowie. though yes, choreographer luck is a huge factor in the show, and it seems to be engineered a lot of times to push through judge favorites. like i love melanie and marko, but i don't think they've done any dances where they've been asked to go far beyond their comfort zone, whereas the people they've eliminated early have just had poop to work with, dance-wise. unfair, but its the nature of the beast

i also love how supportive and caring cat is about the contestants. one of these days, gonna sneak into the 4th of july bbq she throws for past and current sytycd peeps she talks about.

Wait do they post stuff during and after the shows? One of my favorite parts of the show is the end of the episodes when everyone dances all goofy-like and sometimes cat joins in. Looks so fun! Love those candid moments

the only part of that routine i particularly like is the popping toward the end. the girl pulls it off a lot better than the guy, i think. he has the moves down but he doesn't really have the style.

I like ABDC better because they try out as a crew, and then dance as a crew.

SYTYCD, you try out as whatever, and then it's partner-dancing 95% of the time.

I remember in one of the first few seasons, one pair was given a choreographer for a popping routine.

Only problem was that the girl of the pair was a popper, and knew more about it than the choreographer did, and was able to pick out things that he got wrong. The choreographer got flustered and left.

I don't know if you guys watch SYTYCD Canada, but it just had one of the best, kookiest routine ever by Jordan & Joey. So both SYTYCD shows have awesome Jordan dancers.
