Yooooooou'lll be swell, you'll be great, gonna have the whole world on a plate!
i have doubts of the book of mormon being good but i'd like to be surprised
it won all the tonys and literally everyone who I have spoken to who has seen it has utterly lost their shit about it
I think they have 'good' covered
i just have trouble believing something by stone and parker could be that good
fair enough, but I do maintain that the South Park movie is one of the best movie musicals ever made, so I may be in touch with their brand of Broadway

Wanted to find time for Mormon some time this Summer so badly but it's really not looking like it will pan out.
Sucks double because I actually know one of the Tony nominees. Rory O'Malley is from Cleveland was in my parish's youth group.

Yeah they've only maintained a revolutionary and wildly popular television show for 20 years. How talented could they possibly be.
all of seen of south park is them being offensive pricks to everyone
the only remotely good thing I saw was their episode about scientology, and even then...
also who can forget the end of baseketball, where an older, more vulnerable yet ultimately hopeful morgan freeman makes his way down to mexico, believing against all odds that he might see his old friend andy one last time

I certainly won't deny they do that, Antimatter, and I know there's been a lot more of that the past few years but it certainly isn't all they've ever done.
I haven't watched in a long time but South Park had some pretty fantastic seasons and it has stayed relevant WAY longer than anyone would have thought after the first season.
well if you're going to be offended by things I don't really think it'd be a good idea to see the book of mormon?
but from what I understand it's pretty even handed and doesn't just shit on things for the sake of shitting on them (which I've noticed as being the case in south park most of the time as well, so)

Yeah I don't even really like the show (well not since the first few seasons) but the South Park film is pretty fantastic. The music is genuinely solid.

Avenue Q came to town earlier in the year, that was pretty neat. First musical I've seen in a theater. Unfortunately, those don't come through too often around here.
got my second city conservatory audition on friday
took a workshop for it on sunday and it was the most fun I've had in months
so excited!!~~
Good luck Animal! Are you in Chicago or on one of the coasts?
i'm in Chicago. i love that it is the founding place of so much comedic tradition
every class I've taken at the second city was totally awesome
I got the chance to take a directing course with Bernie Sahlins, one of the founders of the place

I think within this upcoming year my best friend & I are finally going to sit down and write our long-awaited musical based loosely on the life & death of President Theodore Rooservelt called Don't Call Me Teddy!

Last thing I saw was Catch Me if you Can, and it was pretty good.

Haven't really watched it for a few years, though.
What would those things be?

the Mormon episode of South Park is gold, and pretty even-handed
I mean, kinda

I'm like 50 pages into it and it's changing my perspective on improv/life
Right now I'm just waiting to head to Seattle so I can jump into the improv scene there.

I know some musical purists who don't like it but man I love it so.
Ewan McGregor got even hotter to me because of his singing.

it's one of the only movies I like Nicole Kidman in
I have very much been enjoying The Book of Mormon since the album was released and I am ferociously jealous that you're seeing it.
My favourite song is this one:

But it probably requires the rest of the show's context to be really funny.
