Most of you are familiar with the traditional circus, like Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey
These organizations are comprised of acrobats, clowns, animals and numerous other acts in goofy costumes and make-up that perform for the entertainment of you, the visitor. Now take all of that, subtract the animals, add a semblance of a story that may or may not be interpretable and an incomprehensible singing language and you'll get
OH GOD WHY IS HE SO ANGRY
That's better.
Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company based in Montreal, Canada with its roots in street performing. Falling under the "contemporary circus" category, Cirque focuses less on traditional aspects of circus, such as animals, and instead favors an emphasis on character and story development, told through the performers on the stage, as well as the music and stage itself.
You'll find acts that you may very well find on the streets of a city.
Others, not so much.
Personally, I enjoy the music.

Cirque now has shows touring around the world. One of their newest,
is coming to San Francisco this fall. I may very well find myself heading north to see this, if I can scrape together some form of transportation.
So, come and let us talk about how much you love this organization, or how much these weird people creep you out.

Imagine the slowest clap you've ever seen.
That's me right now.
News at eleven
Edit: Anyway, I've seen Dralion and Kooza live so far. Definitely going to see one of the Vegas ones if I ever get over there.
Mystere
La Nouba (like seven fucking times)
Dralion
And uh another one I think?
And my friend and I watched Quidam on tape about a hundred times before I saw my first Cirque show
I ALMOST got to photograph a dress rehearsal of La Nouba. Was approved by the leaders down here, but the Big Bosses in Montreal said no

I dunno, that didn't work out so well for Paul Rudd
The Elvis one was OK if you're into Elvis, but it was more dancing than acrobatics so definitely the least impressive of the lot.

Now to scrape up the money because this shit is expensive.
Mm, no it was at some center or other.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
The clowns were much funnier than at la nouba, but the rest of it seemed a little less good than i remembered
Except the double dutch, that shit was intense
