Cirque du Soleil - Who Sings at the Circus?

Most of you are familiar with the traditional circus, like Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey



These organizations are comprised of acrobats, clowns, animals and numerous other acts in goofy costumes and make-up that perform for the entertainment of you, the visitor. Now take all of that, subtract the animals, add a semblance of a story that may or may not be interpretable and an incomprehensible singing language and you'll get

Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company based in Montreal, Canada with its roots in street performing. Falling under the "contemporary circus" category, Cirque focuses less on traditional aspects of circus, such as animals, and instead favors an emphasis on character and story development, told through the performers on the stage, as well as the music and stage itself.

You'll find acts that you may very well find on the streets of a city.



Others, not so much.



Personally, I enjoy the music.

Cirque now has shows touring around the world. One of their newest,



is coming to San Francisco this fall. I may very well find myself heading north to see this, if I can scrape together some form of transportation.

Cirque du Soleil is amazing, I've seen three of their performances - one in Melbourne, one in Vancouver, and an Elvis themed one in Vegas. I wish I'd fought harder in Vegas to see Zumanity though because boobies. O looks like it would be pretty great too.

I ALMOST got to photograph a dress rehearsal of La Nouba. Was approved by the leaders down here, but the Big Bosses in Montreal said no

Oh yeah, the one's I saw were Dralion in Melbourne and Kooza in Vancouver. I think Dralion is still the best one I've seen.

The Elvis one was OK if you're into Elvis, but it was more dancing than acrobatics so definitely the least impressive of the lot.

oh man there was this bombshell redhead who did some amazing bondage stuff with silk rope and then flew around the room with the silk ropes

and the host of the show was an awesome dude dressed as a satyr

I saw La Reve in Vegas. It's basically water Cirque Du Soleil without the fancy schamncy CdS label. It was quite good, but nothing will ever ever top Varekai.

Years ago there was this Cirque du Soleil behind the scenes series on tv (A&E I think, but I'm not sure) for Verekai. I can't remember the name of it but it was really cool, and I wish they'd do something like it again for the other ones.

The clowns were much funnier than at la nouba, but the rest of it seemed a little less good than i remembered

Except the double dutch, that shit was intense

I saw O in Vegas. We splurged on front row seats (Seats #1 and #2 actually). It was one of the best experiences of my life.
